Are you going to do this and just scrape by, or are you going to "lay it on thick" for extra credit ?

Maybe we could assist you ???
Here's what the Watchtower Library turns up on the subject
*** km 10/06 p. 4 Theocratic Ministry School Schedule for 2007 ***
No. 4: Armageddon—No Violation of God’s Love (rs p. 48 ¶1-3)
Sounds like you can lift heavily from the recent talk "How Can You Survive Jehovah's Day of Fury ?" !
***
rsp.47-p.49Armageddon***What
willhappentoyoungchildrenatArmageddon? The Bible does not directly answer that question, and we are not the judges. However, the Bible does show that God views the young children of true Christians as "holy." (1 Cor. 7:14) It also reveals that in times past when God destroyed the wicked he likewise destroyed their little ones. (Num. 16:27, 32; Ezek. 9:6) God does not want anyone to be destroyed, so he is having a warning sounded now to benefit both parents and children. Would it not be wise for parents to pursue a course that would result in their children being looked on with favor by God both now and at Armageddon?
theloveofGodviolatedbydestructionofthewicked?Is
2 Pet. 3:9: "Jehovah . . . is patient with you because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance."
Luke 18:7, 8: "Shall not God cause justice to be done for his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night, even though he is long-suffering toward them? I tell you, He will cause justice to be done to them speedily."
2 Thess. 1:6: "It is righteous on God’s part to repay tribulation to those who make tribulation for you [his servants]."
Will you be wearing those pink ears when you give the talk ?

Any current Good Standing JW, posting here?

Yes, I am still in.
I am an elder in my congregation and while I feel guilty about it, I just can't step right now.
I have devised a scheme where I no longer go out in field service. I just write the number of hours, return visits and bible studies on the report every month and no one is the wiser. I must say that my hours are well above the national adverage.
Hi, do you count your hours on here ? It is good to have so many people on the inside. How else are we able to get our scans etc? Thank you all -

"This Shows We're Living In The Last Days"......Your response???
by minimus inatrocities happen all the time.
student mass murders, genocides, the ozone layer, the environment------you name it----it all points to what witnesses assert as proof that this means we're living in the "last days of the last days".
how would you respond to such ones?.

Mary said... (By the way Mary, love the avatar photo pose. Is it you? Sorry, if it someone famous - not up on celebrities)
What about the Black Death in Europe during the Middle Ages?
I was thinking about that today. Afterall, the plague was rife in London in 1665, and what with the fire that we had here in 1666, people were probably shouting that it was the end then.
Especially since 1666 has connotations to the number of the beast !
Shame that the Watchtower wasn't about then - I wonder what it would have made of it?
***
w619/1p.535Religionin17th-CenturyEngland***No wonder many considered it a judgment from God when first the plague and then the Great Fire of London swept through the metropolis in 1665 and 1666.
People have always been doing bad things since they have been on this planet.
But today, there are more of us - hence more people doing bad things (but probably the same percentage?).
Also we have the instant media to bring the news to us, so we get to hear and see these events. Making it appear that it occurs more often.
Imagine the headlines on CNN or the BBC if they had exsisted during the Viking invasions, the Black Death etc...
Infact some comentators think that we are actually more peacable and noble NOW than in the past. I won't bore people, but you can always Google a phrase such as ' are we more violent than our ancestors ' .

Could it be this one ?
When our Lord Jesus returns, we will be gathered up to meet him. So I ask you, my friends, not to be easily upset or disturbed by people who claim that the Lord has already come. They may say that they heard this directly from the Holy Spirit, or from someone else, or even that they read it in one of our letters.
[2 Thessalonians 2:1-2 CEV]

Are You A Pharisee? No? Are You SURE? :-)
by FireNBandits inare you a pharisee?
have you ever wondered what the modern equivalent of a pharisee wearing a phylactery is?
(for those who dont know, a phylactery was a little box that ancient jews would secure to their forehead with a strap, and inside the box was the shema or other important scriptures.

Great post !
You are correct, this can be seen in any denomination.
As though merely learning the Bible is going to make them spiritually alive and mature.
This reminds me of the difference between John 17:3 in certain Bibles (including BBE, NWT and probably others) and most other Bibles.
And this is eternal life: to have knowledge of you, the only true God, and of him whom you have sent, even Jesus Christ.
[John 17:3 BBE]
This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.
[John 17:3 NWT]
And this is life eternal, that they might know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
[John 17:3 MKJV]Huge difference!
Yes, I've just quoted from not just one, not two, but THREE bibles, but knowing the Bible and letting it steer you to a deeper relationship with God and knowing it word for word WITHOUT knowing the Spirit beneath it are two different things. The Pharisees were guilty of obeying the LETTER of the Law but ignoring the SPIRIT of the Law. (I wish I knew where the Bible says that - pointers please)
“praised the Lord!” all over the place, but then would report on any of us--for such offenses as smoking in the lounge, leaving the job site for lunch
Is it not also written that unless we forgive others, we will not be forgiven.
There is much Karma in the Lord's Prayer !
In other words, a Pharisee is not sane. They focus on externals
You Pharisees and teachers are show-offs, and you're in for trouble! You wash the outside of your cups and dishes, while inside there is nothing but greed and selfishness. You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of a cup, and then the outside will also be clean.
[Matthew 23:25-26 CEV]
I would love to Quote The Sctipture to them and set them straight!
Yep, we know the sort. The ones that take scripture out of context just to win an argument.
The ones that you could imagine quoting this verse out of context...
Blessed is the one who grabs your little children and smashes them against a rock.
[Psalms 137:9 GW]
Sadly, they think that just because they can make a passage of the Bible fit a conversation, that they have the full backing of God ! We have the law written on our hearts, to carry with us and apply everyday without making a show of it. But people do love to score points, don't they?

No telling. It appeared to refer to me. Yet this is the best such effort that I have come to expect from most.
Joseph
Oh. I took it personally too.
Thanks to your post (Joseph), I am now looking into Judaism more. Something struck me about the topic of my post and the other feasts...
I thought that traditionally, the time that Jesus was killed was supposed to be the exact time that the Lambs were being slaughtered. If that is the case, how could Jesus and his disciples eat the Passover Seder the night before???

Society won't risk being sued "for the sake of the Good News" - thoughts?
by UnConfused inhave you noticed that while anything can happen to publishers for the sake of the good news the society cant risk being sued for the sake of the good news?.
the society will quote and site scripture as to the trials paul experienced for the sake of the good news.
the society will tell the life stories of jws who have suffered personally, some ultimately for the sake of the good news.

Also they have cowardly changed policy to not disfellowship witnesses for joining the military
I wasn't aware of this... It's a bit off topic I know, but can you point me in the right direction for anything that says this.
I was only aware of a "change" to allow non-combat roles. Is this what you are refering to?
Thanks, and a very good point about the Org.

Whose view is this referring to?
Your view is incorrect on all counts. But thanks for posting. I'm glad to see that all ideas are respected on this forum.
