If you had to, what religion would you choose to be?
by Crumpet inyou can answer this as seriously (lt) or as inanely (buttlight) as you like!
i was reflecting having read someone's thread about blowing off non jw family that actually it would have been so much better if i had a larger family, preferably not completely jw saturated and this random train of thought led me to thinking that if i could choose i would be catholic, because then i would have a huge family, go to really nice gothic churches with lots of candles and tortured saints and be able to go to confession (instead of lt's mobile).
also the colours of the whore of babylon always were a lot more enticing to me than the mild blues and undistracting beiges of the khs.. i think we all have religions which would suit our personalities so much better.

Is it wrong to hope that a loved one will die?
by Paralipomenon ini received a call last night that my grandmother had a stroke.
my first thought was "finally".
i know how awful that sounds, but her health has been deteriorating for years.

It's definitely not wrong to feel as you do....The point of Life is to, well, live, and live well. And if old age and a stroke and alzheimers is robbing that joy of life from you and a person is in constant pain, Life is not Life....
If the person you love is in so much pain, you just want them to be out of that pain-
my condolances.

I used to have the best conversations with my Mom when I was a dub-not now
by themonster123 inwhenever me and my mom would have our weekly study, it seemed like we would have the best conversations.
that's when i felt closest to her and felt like both our minds and hearts were open and loving and receptive.
now....(she's still a jw-i'm not), whenever we talk, since it's never about spiritual stuff anymore (since i don't believe it), it's always about shallow stuff-i feel so shallow.

Was the depth I felt when we had our weekly study evidence of divine inspiration? I'm confused-now that I'm not a JW, I feel so much more distant and I felt like we had God's blessing, and now I feel like a fleshly person-just living in the day-to-day-. (By the way, she's not treating me any different than she did before-it's just...different b/c we dont' share that same bond anymore).

I'm too young to know about the smurf thing, but I do know that when I was a kid in the 90s, I wasn't allowed to have those troll things (kupees or so mething???) that were really popular...they were little plastic figurines with brightly colored hair coming out the top. I was always scared of those things cuz I thought they were demonized.

....So do you believe ANY of the Bible is true?
by themonster123 ini saw the movie "300" last night-i just got to thinking- because in that movie, xerxes, the king of persia is part of the story.
and from my bible reading in the past, i know xerxes was mentioned.....and other historical people who were actual people....stuff like noah's ark is easily discredited, but do you think everything in the bible never happened or some did?
is it possible some stuff happened and some stuff didn't?.

i would just like to say to: "I k now what i like and i like what i know" that HEY OH! Woah uh woah oh woah....Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder and it's so white as snow...Running through the field where all my thoughts will be concealed and there's nowhere to goooo.....Right on, brotha! Right on.

Change the past (Short Story)
by free2beme inallen parker was a well known professor, looked up to by all those in his field of study, so when he spoke about something people tended to listen.
so when he stood in front of the group and began to lay out his plan, all of those in attendance listened attentively.. "what i am proposing to do, is to pin point a time in history in which we could make things better for the present time.
show life in the way you dream it to be.

I studied the book of Daniel, but I'm just curious where the Society went wrong about the statue, (toes, metal, clay etc.) and king of north and king of south
....and ESP. Dan 2:44 ("And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite.")
For the longest time, this scripture (and Daniel's whole dream) has been a huge reason I was a Witness, but, again, I never delved deep into explaining it to myself (w/o the Daniel book we studied in bookstudy). Maybe I'm reading it through Witness eyes, but could someone explain to me how the Society is wrong about the whole Daniel dream thing? (in an easy-to-understand way!) Thanks. :)

HEY UNDECIDED! Wow, you articulated everything so well! I really love the way you said it-you just laid it down-nice job, man.
And....that Fred person-are you a Witness or something? Why are you on this anti-Witness website?!!
