I was talking with my other df'd sister yesterday. She is not going and I am. I told her that even if the JW's are not right, that is the one commandment that I know is in the Bible and I feel we must follow. We can either go to a church and take communion or go the memorial hosted by the JW's. If I didn't do some kind of "memorial" to Jesus, then I know I would feel a sense of guilt...

I asked this to my dad (PO in his congregation) this last night...
He said that this is NOT true...He said that if one was to to turn apostate, or to join the military, then they would by their "actions" disassociate themselves and that is how you would treat such ones, but if one was to just be inactive, they would not be treated the same as being df'd or da'd, but at the same time they would not be one that you would want to search out to have fellowship with other than to try to help them back.

I completely agree with you...I think the man should be the first to say it. That's how it's alway's gone for me anyway..
My husband told me the first time after we had been together for about two weeks. He did it in the sweetest way...He took his finger and wrote on my back the words "I you"...We still do that to this day!!!
hubby and i got on the topic last night.
he was wondering what i was eating- a frozen jello pudding cup.
i remember getting them at the assemblies, especially the hot summer district assemblies.
I remember when they had the "hot" meals when I was a little girl and everyone had their own tray. Don't remember any of the foods though..
Before they changed it to everyone brings the own cooler/lunch, I remember we would always get a bagel with cream cheese/strawberry jelly for breakfast & a fruit bag for lunch w/a lemon lime soda. I had to work one of the tables which was pretty cool and collect everyone's meal tickets. (had to purchase in advance, no cash)
seeing as the new system of things is taking it's sweet time getting here to restore everyone's youthful appearance,

the other day i was making substantial purchase and wanted to take advantage of the advertised "12 months no interest" deal.
i have excellent credit, however my application was denied.
the girl at the checkout couldn't tell me why, only that it was denied.
I do car loans for an Insurance & Financial Co. I see a lot of customers that do like you do, save up money for large purchases and pay them off or they just simply only use cash to make purchases. This actually can hurt your credit almost as much as having no/bad credit. There is no "credit history" for the loan companies to go by to see how you can handle credit or can pay in a timely manner. I would suggest you have a small credit card, maybe one with a $300 or $500 credit limit, and of course with a small interest rate, and make regular monthly payments to help boost your credit history.

i remember in the 70's (when we used to be able to have lots of jw social get-togethers like picnics and parties) some of the friends would bring pot-luck specialties that were to die for!.
everyone has a dish they consider their "specialty" which gets high praise and generally requests for the recipe.
Here in the south we are addicted to "Sundrop". Here is a cake reciepe using it, or since it's not available in the North, any citrus soda should work! The cake is so moist & sooooo yummy!!
SUNDROP POUND CAKE:
3 Cups Sugar
3 Cups Flour
5 eggs
2 sticks butter or margarine
1/2 cup Crisco
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
6 oz. Sundrop (or any other yellow citrus soda)
Cream sugar, butter, and crisco. Add flours & eggs and beat until blended. Add vanilla flavoring & Sundrop. Mix well. Bake in teflon tube pan at 325 degrees for 1 hr 15 min. After cooling remove from pan to platter. Add icing after cooled.
SUNDROP ICING:
2 cups powdered sugar
2 oz. Sundrop (or any other yellow citrus soda)
2 Tbsp. butter
Mix all together until well blended, pour over cooled cake.
ENJOY!!!
my husband, never a jw, is at home because he has a broken arm and off work.
a couple of days ago the door knocks and two jws are at the door, a man and a woman.
the man starts to make conversation and hubby says that he is not interested in organised religion.
Good for your husband!! My husband did the same thing to an older JW at his work.
I had two witness women come to our house last year. I answered the door thinking it was the neighborhood kids coming to play with my son, and they started right in to their speech. I stopped her and said I'm disfellowshipped and I know all about the magazines. The lady that had been speaking just looked at me with a deer in the headlights look. The lady behind her actually gasped out loud and covered her mouth with her hand. It was hillarious! They just stood there. I then told them "It's okay..you can turn around and leave now!" Classic...
she just told me last night that she has a part.

she will be talking about a music teacher "making fun" of her for not participating in singing holiday songs.
I remember having two assembly parts. One for the Circuit assembly when I was a young teenager and then one for the District Convention as an older married teenager. I had to do these parts for several different dates. The good that comes of it is, it helps with your speaking abilitiy, and making other friends in other circuits. Your daughter is about the age of my son. He still goes occasionally with his JW dad. My son says he only goes to see his friends! At least, your daughter will have those friendships for now, until she decides on her own if she wants to continue going with her dad. But whatever she decides, she'll know she has her moms support no matter what, and she'll never forget that!!
