Overlapping generations once more - some tie-in I'm not aware of?

the other day i casually mentioned to my wife how weird the new generation teaching sounds.

she at first had no idea what i'm talking about.

I went through this with the last two elders that came to my home. I brought out about all the changes and how the jws don't even know about them, they asked me 'what changes?' That started the conversation. I mentioned the one about the 1935 calling the annointed and

what the new information was. The one elder said that is the way it always was. He didn't see any change. So I went and

got the watchtower (which suprised them) . I think they think everyone is as stupid as they are. I read the article to him like

a two year old , especially where the society specifically says it is a change. I insisted they he repeat what they said, he

begrudgingly admitted it was a major change. I let them know that it is pretty bad when the elders aren.t keeping up

with changes this important. They just sat there like two sheep killing hound dogs. I think these people are staying

ignorant on purpose.

when in field service, was there any stupid rules that had to be followed?

i was reading the topic on sisters having to sit in the backseat even if it was their car.

made me think of a few rules i was subjected to.

one was we were not allowed to have a radio on.

I always thought that field service brought out the worst in jws. The articles on jws mental problems sure

proves true.

ok i listening in for the meetings and will probably go to the special talk sunday, they are having it this week because of the special assembly day last weekend.. i am doing this for a very good reason but it is driving me crazy listening to this stuff.

i need to vent of else i feel i will go crazy.

it is so stupid.. ok so last night was the question box and it was about recording the public talks.

i don't know how this happened and how they met, but a relative, a jw elder and my old po talked about us leaving the wts.

(he said this to my wife).

they reasoned, how could someone, who was a pioneer, bethelite, worked at the rbc, district and circuit level, taught at the pioneer school, helped dozens to baptism, suddenly and inexplicably, leave jehovah's organization?.

Why mess around with all the old junk, why not just get into the factories and infest everything.

JWs do not think through anything they think or say.

Livestock - 1st and 2nd Plague

did all of the livestock die in the 1st plague, or just some of them?.

6 and the lord did just as he had said.

I think some of the problem with figuring this out is how much time elapsed between plagues.

I don'think the Bible says. I may be wrong though. There may have been enough time to

aquire more livestock from other countries. If someone knows of a time table of the plagues

I would be interested to know.

Does Anyone Like the New Songbook?

i'll try not to be 'knee-jerk' critical about this subject but do any witnesses like the new songbook?

ok, they got rid of some awful lyrics about molesting bees - and downsized references to the ever redundant jesus - but the music itself sounds like forced piano practice.

trying to sing these slow, pedantic tunes is awkward and painful.. i haven't seen any witness e-mails about this 'wonderful provision from jehovah' and his faithful hacks, so i wonder if the rank and file aren't enthused either.

My wife was listening sunday on the phone and I Happened to be listening for a few minutes.

The song was playing and it sound like crap, no beat, just a hodgepodge of notes, no rythym.

I told my wife that it sounds like crap, and she said it was because it was on the phone.

I told her the greastest sound system in the world wouldn't help that thing. She said no

more.

many ass kissers would put their name down so they could have him over for dinner......"okay now, they can't eat milk products,red meat, white meat, flour, sugar, salt, water...." .

At our hall they actually lined up to greet and meet him. It was enough to make you sick.

Then they will they tell you how they talked to the CO, like I give a flying crap.

It is that stuff and the way they talk about how wonderfull the talks were and how

great field service was and on and on.

How do you cope with Type II diabetes?

how do you cope with this disease?

do you have side effects from the medication?

Im going on 10 years. Stay away from processed foods, keep your weight down, keep your

carbs way down. Avoid stress (good luck with that one). And excercise. I also use stevia

for a sweetner. Green tea everyday. Apple cider vinegar everyday. And anti-oxidant berry

juices everyday. If you can find aloe vera juice take it everyday. And take chromium picolate

everyday. Im 63 years old and overall feel great (so far).

said to myself & others by a jw elder.. i always recall this as a sort of .

when this elder was pressed on the matter, he replied that it was because of all the years of laughing & sneering & mocking that he had put up with, quoting the scripture that goes along the lines of 'where is this promised presence of his'.. i realise now that this person is not loving.

and yet, i would hear similar sentiments from others such as 'just wait until the end' or 'i wonder if they'll be saying that when jesus comes with his big sword'.. even as a jw pioneer, the thought of such a thing happening to people repulsed me.

I always thought it was nuts for jws to say that the billions of people had their

chance. What chance was that. Millions of people dying all the time, who have

not heard of Jesus Chirist and the message in the Bible, much less the crap

that the society spews forth. Also I wonder how they would feel if God

let everybody off the hook like in Jonahs day.

prayer before eating

i mentioned to an elder/friend the other day that it occurred to me that there really doesan't seem to be any scriptural precedent or mandate for the tradition of praying before we eat.

i said that jesus blessed the loaves and fishes when he performed that miracle, and he blessed the wine and bread at the last supper, but i couldn't think of any other example of it.

i also suggested that the tradition of praying before eating was probably rooted in giving thanks to the various gods of nature and the perception og god as being involved in the outcome of the harvest, and that, by that way of looking at it, we probably shouldn't pray before eating....silence..

I have went through this with jw friends and relatives. I don't say prayer before meals. If they want to that

is ok with me. I thank god in private. I think it is just a showy display. If you have to bring up

saying the prayer then it doesn't mean much. If you say it for the food how about saying

one before you begin to drive in your car, etc., or before you breath. The whole thing is silly.
