  here is an interesting challenge for the folks.

  this thread revolves around one subject, and that is thomas paine's brilliant critique of the bible written in about 1795. he did most of this from memory, while in prison in france.. http://www.infidels.org/library/historical/thomas_paine/age_of_reason/.

  the challenge is this: critique his essays.

  I am reading Age of Reason now. Thomas Paine was a Deist like Thomas Jefferson and other Founding Fathers. They believed in one supreme God, but did not believe in revealed religion. I agree with them.

  Happy reading! I was out 10 years before I even heard of Crisis of Conscience. That book totally blew me away, and took away all the fear and guilt I had over walking away from the JWs. I only wish I had read it sooner.

  NEVER get gifts from my hubby!!

  so tomorrow is my 9th yr anniversary and my hubby (semi-active jw) has never bought me anything for our anniversary.

  he may have gotten me a card once or twice.

  last year i gave him cufflinks and told him i was getting him something 3 days before our anni.

  on my travels this morning, i drove past an abandonded farm.

  i've driven past here before, and stop there every may/june and pick the sweetest smelling lilacs.

  something compelled me today to turn around and go back and do some exploring and take pictures.

  while shopping in a food store, two nuns happened by the beer, wine and liquor section.

  one asked the other if she would like a beer.

  the second nun answered that, indeed, it would be very nice to have one, but that she would feel uncomfortable about purchasing it.
