I began praying again recently. God is still a part of my life, while religion is not.

for me, i had doubts from the beginning.
however, my 1st major doubt came as i had it confirmed that other people felt like i did about certain big issues within the org.
there were many, i realised, that just knew things were not right.
After the 1995 generation article came out I knew something wasn't right. My mind was however still being controlled until 2006.
from the mouth of one of the special pioneers assigned tour congregation:.
at least 300 have been terminated from the us bethel branch in the first month of 2008, and she expects the number to increase.
paraphrasing other comments:.
If I'm not mistaken some of the bethelites who are reassigned as special pioneers are given a monthly stipend. $500 a month perhaps??? I know a number who were reassigned. Clueless!!!!!

The old heads up at headquarters have a pretty nice set-up. Nice retirement work, free health care, nice living quarters, automobiles, some are able to get social security checks on top of that. Once I had a infirmary duty watching old John Booth of the governing body. He had 2 or 3 uncashed government checks (Social Security) and a wad of cash. It wasn't doing him any good, but if you hit it while your young enough, bethel is a nice way to close it out. On top of that they give you an office and some form of godly work. Control everything. Just don't get thrown out when you are 50. Like what's going on now.

i know this may sound strange to some but lately, virtually every week has gone by with me daydreaming myself as a gangster/gangsta.
during conversations with my non-jw associates it is strikingly clear that i really, really know more about the yakuza, cosa nostra, bloods, crips, etc.
i even think i am one of the few that knows (to the best of my knowladge) about the full story to the foudning of the crips and bloods.
Nothing wrong with keeping it real

just reading this board and seeing the effects of this religion makes me sick.
sure those who stay in, who are spiritually asleep (imho) are okay--but what about those of us who woke up?
what about those of us who have anxiety issues?
You are dead on Dinah. I'm with you 100%. You were born in like myself. I stayed in the fog for 36 years. The anger and resentment that I feel sometimes is quite overwhelming. I wish I would have seen the light sooner.
They will pay.
i had to drive 20 km or 12.5 miles round trip to go to a meeting........after so many years, that adds up !!
!
We had to drive 21 mile one way to get to that place. It was originally down a gravel path. Years later it was paved. The building was sold to a church a few years back.
Some of the best sleep of my life coming back home on Thursday night all those years. Glad those days are over.

ever get any invites to come in and eat or get offered breakfast or lunch, and you did it?.
i think of the scripture of jesus telling those that went before him to villages, to "eat what is offered to you".. makes me want to have a bottle of pepperocinis on hand for a witness visit.
.
Both my parents had people they studied with that would feed us whole meals. We also lived in an area where folks had lots of gardens and they would give you fruit and vegetables from their plots. Someone was always giving you food or something.
There were people I would not eat anything over their home, too filthy.
