I'm sure they are forcing themselves to get used to the idea they will not be seeing you in paradise. A way of putting any feelings out of sight. It is a sad situation when, as you say, their belief seems to have no written recommendation against your being there. And if it did on whose authority?

Thanksgiving or National Day of Mourning? - A Native American Perspective
by nvrgnbk inwhen frank james (1923 - february 20, 2001), known to the wampanoag people as wampsutta, was invited to speak by the commonwealth of massachusettsat the 1970 annual thanksgiving feast at plymouth.
when the text of mr. james speech, a powerful statement of anger at the history of oppression of the native people of america, became known before the event, the commonwealth "disinvited" him.
wampsutta was not prepared to have his speech revised by the pilgrims.

It must feel to the AI that the white man is no respecter of others cultures. Wonder what the reaction would be if someone imposed their culture on him? True today as it's always been. No wonder the 'One and Only' WTBTS flourished! I'm white by the way - on the outside that is!

why do we go through all this trouble
by XOCO insince i was out in fs today, and i was thinking why do jehovah's witnesses (supposedly teach false doctrine) but they want everybody to live a pure and clean life.
take for example not to recreational drugs and for everyone to be moral christian way of life as in galatians 5:22 and 23. so my question is why make up (supposed false teachings) yet act as a goody goody christan?

You can teach a child to do as they're told else Santa wont come or you can give them some freedom, make them happy and know that when they do things it's from their heart and they enjoy doing so. You can keep giving out commands or you can discuss and work things out together - which may not always be what you expect. So, if you catch my drift, The WTBTS is able to help you see how it wants the best for you, but you must always follow their rules and stop thinkin up your way about your life! Like with kids - you can inspire the child or control them. They may both do things well but which one will be happier? And the worst bit is the man above won't like you so it's fear. Not love - fear! It's all about how you get people to do the right thing. I can see in some neighborhoods how JWs could keep your kids out of gang culture with few alternatives so it can be a tricky question. The big problem for me is them being the only way and shun you if you don't, with the God fear on top!

The RUSSELL PARADOX
by Terry inpredestination was jehovah's plan for man.
to heaven or to hell you were assigned.. how troubling this must be!.
wondering where in wise jehovah's plan your mother spent eternity; a bright and sensitive lad might ruminate at night on matters weighing heavy on his heart; why babies died and mothers went away and what might be your destiny in god's grand scheme of things.. the ironies in life!

I wonder if any early witnesses called in on AI reservations to let them know about this good news and how they could all go knocking on doors of the white man, who'd just decimated their peoples, to tell them all about it. Paradox indeed!

Tom's health advice
by TD inst. matthew attributes the following words to jesus:.
"when the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest and findeth none.
then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwelleth there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.".

It is good advice Tom. All these things pale in relation to a mindset that thinks it's been serving the God of the universe and now has to get used to not thinking that way and making sense of what life is about if it just includes learning to cook or whatever. The question 'is this what my life is all about haunts everything you do after you believed you knew exactly why you were here and help others achieve eternal life. Talk a depressed individual into spending years of their life serving The God of Life and then find a substitute when their doubts outweigh their logic and belief. It is a tall order. Best to be around other people if possible who are compassionate. That's all really!

If your minds link up so well and you buzz off each other then I see your problem. But pair bondings between two people must include respect for each others thoughts, feelings and emotions in wanting to help each other to be as happy as you both can be whilst your together. Her mind is so geared up to rules that she keeps feeling guilty every time she follows her heart. Instead of you both relaxing and letting go, she keeps haunting herself with Gods rules and the idea her family will shun her if she sticks to you. She really is in a doubt everyone situation. Her mind is not free to choose you because if she does she may be worried that if it doesn't work out she will also have lost her family. So that double negative stops her from being sure that she really does know what she feels about you. All the worry gets in the way of healthy natural, human emotional bonding. Imagine if her family thought you were ideal and yours the same of her - how different and amazing both your lives could become! Maybe keep in contact and try to see her from time to time but put your heart in the gear of knowing this is a long term investment of small amounts of your emotion that may not increase in value. That may be a way of giving something time that you think so special -though only you can know if you can do that and if it's possible. I must admit that I'd be like you and it may take over my head. Know this - if she ever did decide to choose you she would leave behind her family and her religion. That would need some support from you and she would have to know it was what her hert wanted. Maybe that's too much responsibility for even you! And going with her religion just to marry her would be a false move and you know it. And they do talk so much about it you could never escape it. So your personal space may conflict with your mindset. And your kids would be JW. And if you left no one would talk with you. Your wife would be turned against her own feelings unless she followed you. As you see - lots to ponder about whether it's to be or not to be. My guess is if so she'd have to go your way and so you'd have to give her time to make her mind up and sort out if she thinks you're that special! Least you'd know her choice that way and be able to move on. Meantime meet other sorts of people and see how it goes. You may be a guy who loves the kind of woman that behaves like a JW but don't like their belief system. It's one life but don't rush into a situation that holds up 'low bridge' signs otherwise you'll end up stuck and unable to move on. Good luck - Ray

Hin mah too yah lat kekt would no doubt have been alive at the time of CT Russel. I wonder if he realized it was the white mans message from Jesus and God that had come to supplicate his people with the worlds only hope of resurrection? Maybe he would have celebrated Thanksgiving if he knew! Sheesh God will be vexed!

I dont understand the hate...
by JamesWind ini grew up as a jehovah's witness.
my mother was uneducated and so we moved every 2-4 years as she tried to find stable enough work to support a child so ive attended many kingdom halls and have known many witnesses and many elders.
i've never gone back to the witness organization and never will.

The hatred will sometimes be a personal statement of an individual learning how to reject outwardly that which they have felt inwardly for so long and now are trying to leave behind in their lives. Because the organization so ties up every vein of your thought processes it is usual to internalize any thoughts which disagree with their doctrine or their status as Gods only channel to humans. And people on the outside are oblivious to the mass of explanatory doctrine leaving individuals isolated and often unable to form close bonds with regular people for fear of rejection and labeling as religious crackpot. So the very make up of ones mind, like a tumor, which is now seeking removal has no way of being excised. So maybe this is one of those places some are able to do so. It is not perfect and maybe seems 'sick' at times - especially if it seeks to hate, avenge or harm others which hopefully is not its intention since that's the reason some are here to start with. But my observation suggests maybe that's what it is.

Extracting the Straw with a Rafter in Your Own Eyes
by WTWizard ini have heard a lot of threads about the nbc news report about the pedophile scandal.
the pedophiles were never turned in by the witlesses, even though those in charge knew about it.
i am hoping that the videos start coming up on youtube.. these same people are quick to pounce on us for our activities.

And the trap some of our minds were in. Utterly consumed and given up to them having the single authority of Christ and God. How does ones head escape that as other stuff grapples and wrankles in your heart, mind and soul. It did put me at war with my own soul till I virtually destroyed myself. Some have and are gone.
