Mental health is banded about as a label to explain a lifetime of difference. And an ex JW now attempting to get into life of the rest of society may face similar problems to an ex Man United fan sitting amongst a group of Liverpool supporters at Anfield and now saying , I'm one of you!' It will feel odd from both perspectives and when one doesn't leap up at a goal the others say he's got exManUtd mental health and the person will be only too well aware of all this which leaves a person with a slightly surreal feeling whilst everyone else is on a high! Haunting really! Oh and the problem in hospital must relate to your having had blood I guess in which case they must treat you as if you went against God - unless it was a vasectomy which I think may get you the cold shoulder too. Tell me I'm wrong!

MICROBES ON NOAH'S ARK
by badboy indid noah's family have immunity from microbes?.
if so,when did mankind lose its immunity..
-
R.Crusoe
It is an interesting point. Breeders of livestock will tell you that two communities of a species isolated from each other for one or two generations will evolve slightly different immune systems. Introduce both sets of animals to the same environment and a few will be dead before long. So integration promotes wider exposure to a wider range of microbes and so immune systems remain more able to cope with small evolutionary changes of the microbes themselves. And I am no expert so will stop here!

Most ex JWs have had Bible literature in the extreme and so whatever point people are at who come here is usually with that in mind. A key difference to JW thinking though is that it invites the kind of inquiry you mention but then when the wheels are in motion ensures all roads lead to Rome. In this respect it has an agenda. In this respect it is dictatorial. In this respect it veers away from the holistic approach of engaging the individuals thoughts, feelings and lifestyle in a way which liberates and incentivizes autonomous spiritual/intellectual growth. It offers freedom but takes away free will. So whatever research offers, it does not necessarily ensure freedom of thought if there are influences and traditions which impact on the perspective of the researcher. I wonder if someone were to seriously research another faith or ancient culture with the same high degree of selectivity as to what can be currently adopted, and whether one may convince oneself it was workable and hence plausible as a way forward for humanity. This is the motive I believe underlies all belief systems and hence the overwhelming subliminal desire of humans to want it to be God sent!

The issues to be considered are compound and complex. They will relate significantly to the permutation of each individuals experience. For example an individual converted to the faith due to general disillusionment with life in general and a previous religious conviction will differ from one who was brought up as a JW with a large extended family in the faith and some enriched community experiences as a result. On leaving both will face life changing obstacles. Previous insecurities will haunt this new situation as each endeavors to marry their life with that of a social environment they are psychologically new to. Individuals will be carrying internal conflicts which matrix with their emotion, biology and psychology. Overcoming these will necessitate trial and error experiences which may exacerbate or improve their self esteem. Also this will impact on their acceptance or rejection by others in their new environment leading to solutions or even more difficulties. It could be argued that any belief system which sets out to demonize human behavior is fraught with psychological conflict. Instead of helping humans harmonize their psychology, biology and emotion, these belief systems could be the causes of conflicts which will manifest in ways considered criminal or evil. In respect to all the above it could be argued that mental illness is the extent to which an individual has been coaxed or forced away from the psychological, biological and emotional experiences of other members of society whose lives has existed within a range more commonplace and understood by the general public. After all, all reality is transient! But I digress!

What do you think heaven holds?
by the widow inbecause of my background with the witless ones, when my husband died it was hard to believe he was in heaven.
i could hope there is a heaven for those who die.
that he is in a better place.

Before I consciously existed I have no knowledge of myself. And neither do I expect anything when I die. If there is anything time will tell. I know and feel what I am and that is too much already so what's next is off the menu!

We hear of dysfunctional families, communities and societies to the extent that one wonders whether functional ones are the minority. Abuse and revenge is considered the destroyer of worlds at personal, local and national levels. Anyone seeking the pain of another has become part of the evil that was done to them. Because they gain great pleasure from it! Pleasure from the pain of another! 'This is why vengeance is mine!' as God is alleged to have said. In order to love your neighbor more than yourself one has to absorb their harm, forgive them and move on - you will feel like a loser! Jesus thought this the way forward for humanity. His philosophy suggested the alternatives were far worse! But others think the corrupt will take advantage of the weak - it is a catch 22 to trust your fellowman with your weakness - often he laughs in your face and does not see your compassion.

I would say that it's a great idea depending on who your neighbor is but that sort of thing is frowned on in some communities!

If mp3 was available to everyone online, it may start to influence some about not placing literature etc and publishing materials may take a hit! I also understand there are some JW dating sites etc that require a similar password. I heard of a JW sister who years ago was being followed around on sites she used by non JWs who'd obtained passwords from other sources. My non JW family have a borg of their own! I'm an ex - ex by default!
