by minimus inpersonally, i don't think the organization is reformable.
while i was an elder, i tried to be a more moderate voice and as i grew older any harsher attitudes disappaited from within me.
as they say, all the good (and smart) elders have left.

Anyone here into vegetarianism?
by DazedAndConfused inthis trying to become somewhat of a vegetarian is hard.
i can look up anything on the net and find out how to do anything, including how to make a devastating nail bomb to making ricine (sp) to kill people but i can't seem to find out the nutritional values a person needs.. what i worry about most is the protein that we need on a daily basis.
right now i am eating everything that has the highest content of protein i can find in the cupboard.. i am not trying to go vegetarian because of peta, although i have watched the video's (eeeeewwwww).

I'm trying to see outside this box of pain we live over this!
Dont some of you feel there is a 'connect' between the persistent sexual repression and the apparent incidence of deviance?
Like its hardly as though JWs provide a Karma Sutra for married couples = and it does make you wonder about the Western values which insist on defering sexual practices till humans are post education age - unlike some Eastern faiths which synchronise it with biological developments = younger women!
Is it possible to impose regulation on nature and human biology without increased incidence of aberations?
Our developed world is not only at war with its oceans, atmosphere and flora, but seemingly with its inner self!
We see the advantages for educating and extending choice to live childless but at what price for the change?
I wonder - long term - what is to be done?
Are some of you in favor of more prisons? And is this male slavery?(most prisons are full of men!) Why? How do these problems keep recycling errant males?? I'm curious as to underlying features in society which perpetuate this cycle!
If male and female are equally 'perverted' then why not equally locked up and condemned? An oddity of humanity it seems?

Christian Unity --- At What Cost?
by hamilcarr inmany leave the wts organisation because they are in search of christian freedom, while others stay within because they're proud of being a part of a group which displays christian unity, even though they often doubt some of the decisions of the gb.
i think it's hard to deny that jws demonstrate a remarkable unity in both doctrinal issues and everyday topics.. what do the concepts "christian unity" (1 cor 1:10) and "christian freedom" (ga 5:13) mean to you and how do they relate to one another?
are these terms not mutually exclusive, hence, is it possible to be really free if you are required to be "fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought' (nwt)?.

I once taught most of a family of vegans - very intelligent though that was down to parenting being informative in the extreme. Issues with certain nutritional things have to be confronted but it sits well with me for some reason!
Also a teacher who was vegetarian and also into music and playing instruments - what a dream combination - I was born out of place for sure!!
So being a late convert to vegetarianism ( i dont mind animal produce = unless i was with someone who did cuz I'm not too concerned either way so long as my harm none self is in tune) at a time when much of my situation is in freefall, I simply stock up on fruits and veg, occasional pasta and seeds, grains etc. And I can eat a jar of olives in one go - wow- oil not brine (too salty)- my bad! Oats, wheatgerms, rye flakes, bran wheat etc with cinammon sticks = whateva is there for porridge! Pizza with olive peppers mushrooms cheeses chopped tomatoes topped on when crisp!
Best fruits = honeydew melon slightly alkaline and good for heartburn and fiiling you up with little weight gain!
Superb fruits are kiwi - ripe when soft and can take 4 weeks to so careful not too hard at purchase - but seem to last forever without rotting!
Mango - another fruit that must be soft to press and is just as amazing as kiwi when ready!
So I just started and played around basically! Vegetariansm is my adult sand pit, bucket and spade!

i think it would interesting to hear the claims that suggest that he never truly existed.
not an attack, just thought it would be an interesting topic to read the research that challenges it.. was jesus of nazareth a real historical person?

12 months ago I could never even consider this plausible!
But things I learned about since then suggest to me that the divine of Jesus of the Bible is highly likely never to have existed!
Though I consider his Buddha like persona to likely have been around someplace in someone!

But it's a worry if somehow hubby is feeling sorry for her!

I mean if she already had so many guys on a string she seems more than capable of finding new aquaintances!
Your worries are understandable and you have the inside take on this! Have you no other circles of friends who promote harmony rather than what is occuring here? It sounds unhealthy for your situation! But if hubby as you say is on the level with you, I wonder why you cant exorcise your doubts through him?
