  as i am aware a lot of posters are feeling down or grieving the certainties lost when their faith is revealed as nothing but the stories of mortal men...i am posting one of my favourite youtubers, philhellenes who, like the ancients you studied, contemplates that sense of awe that he is indeed fearfully and wonderfully made...and when faced with the inevitability of mortality he imagines the plight of the mayfly...and wonders" would it be cruel to tell an adult mayfly that it only has that afternoon to live...would it still fly as far and as high as it could?might it fly further and higher than usual?or would it forget about it's wings and sit on the water, head bowed, sufficiently traumatised to invent religion?".

  we are privileged that after millennia we are some of the first life forms to know exactly how we came to be..and what we are made of ...and if that isnt miraculously awe inspiring,i don't know what is.

  Where do I start telling a psychologist about the mental trauma I feel as a fading jw?

  i am on a pension, so i could not afford to pay for a psychologist, but my good doctor referred me to a free clinic for people on a low income, for my anxiety and depression, so i have finally got my first appointment with a psychologist since i started my fade, so where do i start trying to explain the mental trauma i feel as a fading jw?

  i would appreciate your advice.

  I`m certainly not qualified to give you any professional advice , hopefully someone more experienced in this field will be able to offer that kind of help for you.

  My personal lay mans suggestion would be : Just be your normal self in expressing how you feel , what is troubling you , and how it makes you feel as a person.What your fears are and how this affects your marriage and relationship with your wife .

  Your psychologist is just another human being like yourself , don`t be intimidated by his /her profession .Their there to help you .Just be your natural self when discussing your situation.

  Sometimes just pouring out your heartfelt feelings to someone can be therapeutic for you .

  I feel for you Bro.Take care and don`t stress out about your appointment.

  And let us know how you are doing when you are able to .

  Something isnt quite right.

  l was wondering if others get the feeling that the world we live in seems not quite right.l can not pin point anything specific but since childhood days l often get the feeling something isn;t correct.you know the feeling of deja vu.

  am l the only one to feel this way?ld love to hear from others and any storys they may have.having been raised in the jdubs maybe lm just suffering mild bouts of paranoia .

  Hi , atomant,

  The greatest deception is Christendom convincing people over the centuries that their is a fallen Angel called Satan , who apparently is having more success than the Almighty God.

  The Jewish people were the so called chosen ones for 4000 years and never heard of a Satan as Christianity describes him .The concept was alien to them.

  Of course I stand to be corrected if I am wrong here.

  Another way of putting it if I may :

  Many Jehovah`s Witnesses of many years , mainly born ins , of many years , for one reason or another fall away from the religion and they stop participating in , or attending meetings anymore.

  However :

  They may by all accounts have left the religion physically , but not emotionally , or even Physcologicaly , nor factually , in other words they left the religion but the religion has never left them .

  The reason , in part , is because they have not based their beliefs on facts , or evidence , or reason , but on emotion

  These people usually have no knowledge of the Bible scriptures to back their beliefs , or even the basic knowledge of the beliefs of the faith they profess .Many of them just following on from the faith of their parents,

  So when a disaster occurs somewhere in in the earth , they storm back into the religion , until it all dies down , and their gone again , till the next disaster happens , and then , their back again ,

  my conclusion is, i hope this site is :-.

  a) first about solving practical problems of people leaving the w.t,.

  b) secondly about if god exists or not.. so what have i learnt since reading my first posts from 6 months ago?.

  Like DJS , I too , was out about 20 years before i eventually found this site.And even then I had apprehension , doubts about becoming involved in such a forum. ( Oh , the power of indoctrination )

  Thankfully I did persevere , and I think I have become a much more tolerant person to people whose lifestyles are so different from mine .

  I have learnt so much more about the Bible , it`s pluses and it`s negatives than I ever learned from 33 years as a JW. , and we considered ourselves as Bible students. What a Joke.

  If anybody wants to get a real education about the Bible , Christian beliefs , and Christian Cults , but also a range of other topics that are discussed not always religious , this is the site for you.

  You can speak your mind freely and get feedback , an interchange of ideas ,without sanctions .

  here is a question, if "not one of them is missing" how does the org explain super nova's, the destruction of a star at the end of it's life cycle?

  because by definition it is missing, i have never heard of any explanation from the org to explain this contradiction..

  Of course their is no mention of Asteroids , Meteors , Meteorites , Comets , Black holes , Colliding Galaxies , Etc.Etc. ,in the Bible that just might point to a more chaotic Universe than what the Bible indicates.

  And we only have the tip of the iceberg so to speak about the Universe., if that.

  Last Day of Chemo

  today is the end of my son's 3 -1/2 year treatment for leukemia.

  we had a small party at the hospital with nursing staff and a few friends.

  it has been a great day with the exception of getting walking pnemonia from his sister.

  So he was only 4 or 5 when he was diagnosed with Leukemia ? That is so sad .

  I`m glad he is responding to treatment and wish him all the best in the future as he Enrols in baseball and the martial arts .

  Truly great news .

  Tell him smiddy from Australia gives him the thumbs up and a high five from me .

  Children can be , and are , an inspiration to us oldies.

  february 8-14 asstower is titled " a living translation of god's word.

  note paragraph 4:.

  “4 despite the clear evidence that the personal name of god belongs in the bible, many translations completely omit the sacred name of god.

  Up until the introduction of the individual books of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament Books) in the western world JW`s used the American standard Version of the Bible which did use the name Jehovah in the Old Testament , prior to 1960`s I think.

  However other versions of the Bible including the Catholic Knox translation uses Yahweh throughout the Old Testament. , even the Catholic Douay version acknowledges Jehovah as the name for God .

  The Good News Bible For Catholics acknowledges Jehovah and Yahweh as names for God .

  The Uniting Church has hymns recognizing Jehovah as God .

  And I am sure their are many other cases

  Numerous Christian essays ,Thesis ,Concordance ,Discussions about the Judeo -Christian religion identify the name of God with Yahweh or Jehovah.Check out a local Library on Religion , you will find heaps more .

  Jehovah`s Witnesses claim to be Bible Students and yet they are ignorant of these facts ? If they were Bible students they would not be ignorant of these facts ,

  It is dishonest to imply Christendom hides the name of God , Its on many of their Churches even in Brisbane Australia.

  The Kingdom Interlinear Of The Christian Greek Scriptures published by the WTB&TS a word for word translation , does not contain the Tetragramaton ,YHWH or JHVH for God`s name as it does in the Old Testament , in the New Testament , the Christian Greek Scriptures .

  So it is dishonest to insert the name Jehovah or Yahweh in the New Testament /Christian Greek Scriptures that the NWT does.

  If they lie to us about the use and name of God , what else are they lying to us about .?
