  i haven't been on here much, but every so often i try and keep up with the discussions.

  i'm sure this topic has been talked about before, so my apologies in advance if i'm repeating.. a little about me.... i'm a non baptized jw married to a devout jw.

  both my husband and i were raised in the organization.

  You are quite right in saying you have an equal right in saying how your children are brought up .Forget this bullshit about Man being the head of the house to make all important decisions..... Hogwash.

  That rubbish has been nourished throughout history by the Hebrew Scriptures , the Christian Greek Scriptures , and the Quran /Koran to name a few with the full intent of keeping women in their place , downtrodden

  I am a male ,father and husband to two boys.Sadly we were JW`s for 37 years and I regret bringing my boys up in this religion as head of the house.( Even though we are all out now ) Some damage you can never undo.

  Don`t make that mistake.

  Stick by your guns and don`t let yourself be intimidated by anyone.Your children`s future depends on it.

  Your second response here seems a very well conceived plan to implement , there has to be compromise on both your parts .

  You must have a voice in how your children are to be educated , in a secular sense and religiously .

  im sure someone's probably made a topic about this already but i can't believe that there weren't any new releases besides the movies.

  In the 1970`s-80`s their was speculation about preaching a message of doom associated with a campaign of successive brochures that we were delivering world wide.

  Nothing eventuated of course.

  In the 1980`s the UN ,"the abomination that causes desolation" pronounced a year of " Peace and Security ".... 1 Thes.5:3 nothing happened

  Every time a failed prophecy is exposed , it`s excuse turns out to be New Light .

  Did the prodigal son have to work his way back , before his father welcomed him back into the family ?

  How long before they accept you back ? How long have you been waiting jumping through their hoops already ?

  When Jesus forgave sinners ,was there a condition of a time limit involved ? or was it immediate forgiveness and no restrictions.

  Each and every member of this board reaches more people than they ever did going from D2D , with more effect.

  i was just reflecting about this site and it`s influence on me and what i have got out of it and it came to me that whatever subject i bring up , or others bring up , the obvious thing is we engage in discussion .that`s what it`s all about .. however , the feedback we get or the input we give , far outweighs anything we ever achieved going from d2d for the wtb&ts./ wt real estate agency /publishing house .. how many times did you have a meaningful discussion with a person at a door ?, as a jw ?

  not many i would think.. the majority of times , they were not home or not opening the door to you , so even if you did meet people they were too busy to talk to you or they just were not interested.. whereas , here on this board you engage with many people from all over the world , and we can discuss a subject as long as we want.until it runs it`s course.. i think anybody who posts here has had far more satisfaction in their interaction with other people on this board than they ever experienced in the d2d work as a jw.. and i hope that people who just lurk here can see the benefits of open discussion in a forum like this without judgement and recriminations that occur in the jw religion for speaking your mind.. smiddy.

  Why isn't the Boston Globe doing a better job?

  why isn't the boston globe doing a better job covering this group?.

  after all, the movie spotlight won an oscar about this paper and their groundbreaking journalism into the catholic church covering child abuse.

  It`s been a while since I watched the movie Spotlight , wasn`t the abuse brought to their attention many years before and nothing was done about it ?

  So , while the end result was satisfactory , in the meantime , many more abuses occurred ruining many children`s lives.

  If the journalists had acted upon this information they received back then much suffering to children could have been averted.

  Maybe we should be more active in writing to newspapers , contacting TV stations , Radio stations ,about the cover ups of child sexual abuse in Congregations , Elders not reporting these crimes to the authorities when brought to their attention.and their shunning of family members who no longer want to be known as a Jehovah`s Witness.

  i've read many statements on this forum from people who have expressed the sentiment that you don't shove ttatt down the throat of an older person.

  it would be too traumatic and its best to let some people, in some situations, simply pass on in the delusion.. its humane.

  merciful.. in the initial roar of my awakening, i was unable to cuddle up to that sentiment; preferring, instead, to shove the blood curdling shock of truth down the throat of anyone i could get my grip on... age be dammed.

  In that situation , what`s the point of trying to undermine their faith no matter how blind it may seem to be to us..

  hello everyone, it's been quite a while since i was last on this forum.

  originally i was under a different user name, but lost all that information when i moved to a different state.

  anyways, i had left the jws back in 2001, after being raised up in it most of my childhood life.
