where a few of us here on the forum live is in an emergency situation.
the main spillway on oroville dam -- the tallest dam in the usa -- is damaged.
the emergency spillway, never used before in the 48 years the dam has operated, is eroding.. major confusion and panic occurred when the order went out sunday, late afternoon: this is not a drill!.
According to the GB ex JW`s are damned no matter where they live.
just read some of this latest awake on the org's webshite.. it begins by talking about the 'supernatural' - wizards, witches, vampires, etc.
- their popularity and why they might appeal to people.
then it goes on to state the wt belief that someone is 'behind it'.. now, i like a few horror/scary films - when i was a kid, i always actually liked being a bit scared by them, tbh.. the silence of the lambs, a nightmare on elm street (1984), the ring, the witch, the thing (1982) and a few others are all great, imo.. they are just genres and subgenres of film, that's all.
Doesnt Sparlock come into that catergory ?
That looks very interesting ,something for me to look at later .
so this is from a couple of years ago but i happened to have found it in the podcasts from abc radio national in australia.. i thought it was an interesting interview and am passing it along in case it has not been posted here in the past.. http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2015/08/21/4297526.htm.
Thanks for putting this up I will listen to it later ,Paul was also interviewed on TV some time ago that is also worth watching ,whether it is the same interview or not I`m not sure.
Highly reccomended , he is very well composed and not bitter in his presentation of his experiences and family fallout of his leaving the Jehovahs Witnesses .
let's throw a hypothetical.
let's say that a body of elders is looking for someone in a different congregation, but don't know what kh he attends, how do they go on about it?
how long do you guys think it'll take?
Its really not that hard to find anybody you are looking for : telephone books ,Electoral roles ,to name just two in OZ
The law in Australia is that all over the age of 18 are to register to vote even if they choose not to for a variety of reasons , so JW`s do so obeying Rom.13
I have found old associates using the telephone book also .
I dont know what the situation is in other countrys.

This must be very traumatic for all the people affected by this evacuation/emergency.
Thanks to you CoCo and flipper for the updates . It is being reported on here in OZ and our thoughts and well wishes are with all those affected .
Its hard to imagine in this day and age that such a potential disaster can happen uprooting so many people from the comfort of their own homes.
Take care
day 5 in court - and apparently the plaintiff stephanie fessler has decided to settle..... http://www.pennlive.com/news/2017/02/jehovahs_witness_sexual_abuse.html.
jehovah's witness sexual-abuse-coverup lawsuit settled.

I think that every time a child sexual abuse case against the Jehovahs Witnesses is settled out of court with a gag clause against speaking about the settlement agreed upon by both partys doesnt bode well for the JW`s.
In their paying for a settlement , it is an admission of guilt / culpability .on their part.
If they were completely innocent guilt free why wouldnt they fight tooth and nail to defend themselves.?
Because they are not innocent guilt free .and thats why they are paying to shut the victims up.
so here's a link to the latest jw podcast.
in it they talk about how the organization is structuring things in australia to get out of paying money to victims of abuse.
the short version, as i remember it, is that they are making each congregation its own individual charity.

point taken with your pm
just needing a listening ear, so in advance thanks for being here, no one other than ex-jw's could understand.
they may try, but i think only a person who lived through it could know what's its really like.. i wish i could be supporting others here but i'm so broken myself i can't seem to do that yet.
i hope that will come in time though.. for now, i'm trying to undo the damage done to my family by the wts.
Longgone you say your 19 year old daughter is recently married and in finacial trouble which we all know is not a good start to a marriage but hey thats youth isnt it .
I gather you are in the states ? do they have Govt assistance programs that help young people that they can take advantage of ? Charities ? religious organizations that help people in need ? Dont let her be so proud that she cant accept help from any source that will give it
Lots of young couples make bad choices in their early years of marriage and then become productive citizens in later life. I speak from experience here.
Accepting help from whatever source can mean you live a happy life in the future.
I know you want the best for your children but the bottom line is sooner or later they have to stand or fall on their own two feet. and you dont have to feel guilty about the choices they make .
Take care.
