  the second astronomer royal of edinburgh was charles piazzi smyth (jan. 1819 - feb. 1900).

  smyth was a man of many and varied interests including meteorology, producing weather observations that still form an important part of uk climate records to this day.. building on the work of james taylor, smyth became fascinated by the great pyramid of egypt at giza.

  jaydee ,I must have mis-read your post or got the wrong impression with your thumbs up on vienne `s comment ,who by the way querys the pyramid as being associated with C.T.Russell.?

  Also if I`m not mistaken ,I loveTTATT2 also doesnt seem to believe that the pyramid is associated with C.T.Russells gravesite.,how many more ? I dont know

  If I have misunderstood I LoveTTATT2 ` s reply to Cofty ,then maybe I should call it a day.

  sparrowdown a longtime member on this board is confused and I dont want newbies lurking on this board to be confused about this issue.

  I`m just trying to clear this confusion up once and for all .

  I thought it was a personal relationship that one was to strive for with Jehovah, not a collective one. Ugh,

  So true dubstepped , and as others have said it is such stupid reasoning.

  hiding the sin is unloving because it harms both the sinner and others. How? Jehovah might stop blessing the congregation with his holy spirit, and the congregation would not have peace.

  Their must be a helluva lot of secret sinners in the congregations of JW`s in the western world where amalgamations ,selling off KH`s ,stagnant growth,closing down Bethels,laying off bethelites ,trimming CO`s and DO`s down in size,plus contributions are now on the slide.

  Also their is a definite lack of zeal in the attitude of the average publisher nowadays always looking for an easy way of witnessing to people ,rather letting the people come to them as in cart witnessing.

  Lets face it D2D witnessing is non effective nowadays and cart witnessing is even less effective.

  The writing is on the wall for the JW religion to fade into obscurity as a fringe religious sect. more so than they are now.

  Some people dont believe in coincidences however I believe a coincidence has to be too coincidental to not be a coincidence in the first place.

  bang mentioned snake antivenin, blood factions, then big geoffrey jackson saying presumptuous, then vin toole in the arc saying he had never heard of theocratic warfare.

  then told how god made exceptions to the rules on blood when soldiers ate unbled meat.

  so one of the things witnesses have been saying for years is how marriage is under attack, typically marrying the word "soaring" with the words "divorce" and "rate".. here are some metrics that suggest that for those who do get married in england and wales this assertion is not actually correct.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40524156.

  sure there are less marriages than there used to be and more people cohabiting but it does throw some water on the argument that the sky is falling in as far as marriage is concerned..

  I dont think Jehovahs Witnesses should be pointing the finger at the "worlds" divorce rate as being an evidence that the end is nigh ?

  I think the divorce rate among Jehovahs Witnesses are higher than the general populations figures by comparison

  Also the general population dont get divorced because of a difference of religion as a rule which is becoming more common in the JW religion

  In my 33 years of being an active witness I was surprised at how many divorces I had witnessed and not a few of them had been married and divorced more than once.

  It sounds like the pot calling the kettle black .

  Did the early Christians suffer bans on bible literature? This doesn’t seem to have been an issue. Indeed they did not use literature, they only relied on the Hebrew Scriptures and the Gospels and Letters of Paul and the other apostles as they became available.

  , while these rights have been fought for and established in law in many countries, there has been no effort to fight for these rights in outright Muslim countries, and extreme Communist countries

  I wonder why that is ?

  I hear what you are saying Gorby and I agree .

  It seems like they are saying well if you cant beat them join them.

  Its very hard to distinguish between some of Christendoms religions and the JW`s anymore in comparing their promotional videos.

  The jw`s condemned Christendom for having credit card facilities in their churches ,now they have them at conventions.

  JW`s never pass a plate around at their KH meetings ,however they are not backward in coming forward in putting pressure on the congregation to donate money . So whats the difference really ? None.

  All Christendoms religions some 40,000 of them have some things in common simply because they all claim to base their beliefs on the Bible.So naturally they are going to have some things in common .

  Now jehovahs Witnesses are getting closer and closer to mainstream Christianity ,evangelicals ,like Genesis etc.
