no brag, just fact---i was the most requested speaker in my hall(s), i was often requested to give talks in kh's all over the place, not just in my area.. i personally enjoyed speakers who taught you something, not merely recited something.
we had a district overseer, paul illingsworth, i loved his style.
he delved into bible words of the original greek and hebrew.

first time poster here but i've been lurking a while.. i have a question that i was hoping some of the watchtower historians might be able to answer.
if a witness was willing to read some of the organisation's older publications, what books would you get them to read and how do i get these books?.
my family are witnesses and my father is an elder.
If you can show him copies of the very first watchtower ever printed by Charles Taze Russell ( 1879 ) The very heading tells you two very important points " Zions Watchtower and Herald of Christs Presence"
1. C.T Russell was a firm beleiver in the" Zionist" movement.
2".Heralding" Christ`s presence from 1879 onward proves he beleived J.C. had invisibly returned in 1874 as was often stated in his writings ...And for good measure you might add he never referred to himself as a" Jehovah`s Witness",nor did any of his associates
The only thing C.T. Russell preached or taught in his writings that is accepted today by witnesses is the rejection of the trinity doctrine, EVERYTHING else has been discarded

not that i'm thinking about it, even for a brief nano-second, but something i have thought about is this, is there any way you could go back and not have people look at you with the stink eye?
after admitting your true feelings, how in the world could people ever look at you the same?
if you were in the situation of welcoming someone back, would you be able to look past the errors?
Only if outlaw`s the P.O.

i see people saying this online.
my parents made us tell people tha we got gifts throughout the year and that we probably got more presents than kids get on birthdays and christmas.
however, it was a complete lie.
Hey!! we told our kids that....,and my wife who is a generous soul made sure they did get presents throughout the year

"We", like most of us here ,truly beleived that the WTB&TS/Jehovah`s Witnesses were the spokesperson for God here on earth in this 20th century
So why wouldn`t we bring our sons and daughters up in a religion that would give them eternal life in a paradise earth? I did all I could to encourage my sons to be faithful and loyall to the organization
Life teaches you otherwise
Thankfully none of MY family ,except for a neice and her family are a part of the organization

Why I bring this subject up is because the publication" Equipped for every good work"highlighted that 1st & 2nd maccabees although apocryphal books did not contradict anything WT were teaching at that time, and in fact gave an insight to the living conditions of jews at the time. And they recomended students read these books to get an insight of judaisism of the time .( this would be sometime in the 50`s ) Knowing the fact that JW`S want to be different from mainstream christian religions it surprises me they didn`t incorporate these 2 books in their NWT,seperating themselves from mainstream christianity, and especially protestant denominations.
