by rebelfighter inthe big day is two days away when she will say "i do".
i knew this day would come someday but as a mom you just want to hold on even though i did everything to train her to be very independent.
she has been making most of her own decisions since middle school.. she moved away 5 years ago but still was totally mine till 2 years ago when mr. wonderful appeared in her life.

As george Constanzis said , if you believe it , its the truth.
As beauty is in the eye of the beholder , I believe truth is in the eye of the beholder too , .and true , it is a perception .
Truth , to many people is what they want to believe , regardless of facts that may prove or indicate otherwise.

Serious question..Leviticus 20:15 Why slay the beast???
by James Mixon init's not as if the sheep was trying to seduce the shepherd, the poor creature was violated.
we have come a long way from those days, thank goodness.
so why slay the sheep or beast?????

nelim ,
I cant speak from experience myself but wasnt their a movie ,Deliverance ,that did show an animal squealing ?
isnt that a natural thing that animals do under such circumstances ?
freddo,
True , the two witness rule is always going to be our loophole in getting out of sticky situations.that we do not want to confront.

I think the story of an Almighty God , Jehovah/Yahweh was a hoax designed to control the people that spawned offshoots such as Jesus ,Allah ,and whoever else since the beginning of time.
And thats just considering the Judeo / Christian / Islamic religions .
The same can be said for the multitude of non Christian Religions around the world going back to the beginning of time , that it was all a hoax designed to control the masses ,I can accept that
Thats what politics is all about isnt it ? Controlling the masses ? As is Religion ?
Religion & Politics go hand in hand ,despite what you hear about seperation of Church and State.
Religion controls people / politics controls people ,put them together and you have a strong voice in controlling a bigger slice of the pie to your advantage.

robrog8999 ,
Then I would suggest to you ,appreciating your response , go to a pro-JW site where you can talk ,communicate with believers of this religion whether it be FB , twitter ,etc.etc, their are plenty places to go including JW.ORG. , so why are you here ? this is primarily an ex JW site.
just asking

Who has the authority to decern what the bible really teaches?
by TTWSYF inso i ask because of all the books, mags and testimonies that the wts promotes.
not only the wts, but many other christians attempt to speak about the bible with authority.
how do we measure who is an authority if we don't know that much?.

If an Almighty God was really the authour of the many books of the Bible ,how is it that Moses was the first one to put anything in writing , 2000 years after the event of creation.? Maybe thats why Genesis 1 & 2 have differences about creation ,God had a seniors moment informing Moses.to its accuracy.

Are Jehovah`s Witnesses of today, aware, or even care about their early history of the 1800`s ?
by smiddy inin the 1960`s when i was a new convert , a 20 year old , i devoured the book "jehovahs witnesses in the divine purpose" outlining the early history of the restoration of true christianity in the world.it helped to convince me then that this was indeed the true religion......not that i remember much of the details it contained nowadays .. i understand there was a poor attempt to mimic it with the " proclaimers " book a much sanitized version of the early history of the jw religion.
what reputable organization in the world ,secular ,religious or otherwise ,doctors their own early history/ beginnings unless they have something to hide or are ashamed of.. how many jw`s today would know that they were formed as the " international bible students association" in the late 1800`s , or that their first president of that association was none other than w.h.conley ,and not c.t.russell.. does it even matter ?
does anybody really care ?.

I think you summed it up pretty well steve2 , the new generation of JW`s have no knowledge of the Bible or Christianity of the first Century and less knowledge of their own early history , and how could they when the organization revises their own history as the years progress.

In these scriptures of Lev. arent the beasts actually raped ?, its certainly not consensual sex ,so according to scriptures about a female being raped , the rapist has to marry the victim and never be able to divorce her .
Shouldnt the rapist of the beast have been made to co-habit with it for the rest of their life ? After all it was their choice.Wouldnt that have been consistent with scripture instead of killing the beast ?

Welcome robrog 8999,
You have stated that your here to :Read testimonies from members, Learn from members ,& to read advice from members.,which is fair enough. However , if you simply limit yourself to only those people , dont you run the risk of getting a totally biased view of the religion.?
Wouldnt it be wiser to also get the viewpoint of past members ? some who have been members for many ,many years ? and get their viewpoint also ?
If you were going to buy a used car from someone ,would you only trust the one who is the seller ? and not listen at all to someone else who used to own the car ?
Only that way could you make an informed rational decision as to the benefits or not of purchasing the car.
The same is true in making choices about religion, their are always two sides to consider .
I hope you make the right choice.
Take care.
