I saw it and thought at the time that it was a bit insensitive.
But after all- that's SNL's specialty - it would be prime time if it wasn't insensitive.
a skit on saturday night live, poking fun at visually-impaired ny governor david paterson has stirred up a lot of controversy.
was it good comedy or bad taste?
you be the judge:.

... to lie about the generation of 1914 not passing away until the events of mt.
24 are fulfilled?
which causes more damage?
Heres a bit of a twisted reply:
I was a quite zealous JW when my child was born, so he understood from the time he was 3 that there was no such thing as Santa Claus. This tended to make him skeptical of any proposed supernatural being- including Superman, God, Darth Vader, and Jesus. I regret robbing him of childhood (excitement over getting presents from S.C.) but if this gave him a healthy skepticism- then it is all the better.
i have to admit that i love being allowed to swear .
damn!.
/bad newborn.
It is a bit addictive, using fuckin swear words. But as my 9 year old likes to say- whats the big deal- its only a word!!!
(read my other post on why krismas is ok).
so, i'd like to get him a great gift to help get him into the holiday spirit so that next year maybe he will be more into it.
so, any suggestions??
What is Festivus?
Congac- my suggestion is to go to a friend or relatives house (who celebrates) so it is ackward not to participate. Also, he doesn't have to do the work (physical and emotional- fighting all of the programming) of buying a tree, decorating, etc. He can participate in the holiday and still deny it. (Worked for me.)
as a complete christmas newbie, i'm looking for advice on the selection, decorating, care for, and disposal of a christmas tree.
i plan on having the first one in my life this year.
i want to buy a real tree (for the scent, and the authenticity of it).
Have I ever said that you guys are awesome!!! I knew that I would get more good info here than anywhere else. (and I don't have to explain why I've never had a tree and I'm 37 years old!!)
Merry Christmas everyone! (I would say Happy Holidays- but I figured we are not real sensitive on this board about Hannakah celebrating.)
(I'm totally excited about my first tree!!!)

Hello everyone.
As a complete Christmas newbie, I'm looking for advice on the selection, decorating, care for, and disposal of a christmas tree. I plan on having the first one in my life this year. I want to buy a real tree (for the scent, and the authenticity of it). Can you all give me some advice on how to select, set up, care for, decorate and then dispose of a tree?
Thank you in advance.

someone just sent me a link to the 2008 annual report.. haven't read it yet.
randy .

I disagree that they are dishonest with figures. They are fastidious about reporting them.
However the system they use counts "peak" publishers that reported in any one month. If a publisher does not report for 6 months and then turns in all of his time for 6 months in one month that counts as 6 publishers (to make up for the other times when he counted as 0 publishers). So, if you create a push in one month for all of the Secretarys to "catch up" and get all of the outstanding time reports- the result is an artificially high number.
(If you want to call that dishonest- OK- but I dont think someone sits there and says- lets bump the number up 10,000, he he he)
We dont need to get into the discussion of how ridiculous the system of counting hours in the ministry is in the first place. Why not count hours that you loved your children? Or took care of the needy? Or did your job? or took care of your family? Such an artificial control mechanism to measure what should be a heart reaction.
i received the following emails, one yesterday and the other today and thought you'll like to see an example of the positive and the negative messages i regularly receive through webmaster at my website, watchtower documents, llc, www.watchtowerdocuments.com.. .
here's the negative message:.
"i must say that after reading your biography, i am shocked.
What, now I'm going to give you advice on what to write?? No way- you are a hero to me.
But...
I do love this statement
I mean, you were such a spiritual person, even working in the Writing Department at Bethel!
I guess would say- you know- being a "spiritual person" or having spirituality is about so much more than where you work. "Spiritual" is understanding how you relate to the universe. You remember how Jesus said, "By your fruits you will recognize them." Well, I found some real rotten fruit. Things that were being done in secret were nothing like Christ. Keep your mind open. Think carefully about the meaning of things. Just because you were raised to believe something, doesn't mean you can't ask questions. Questions are the start of growth.
however, sometimes i have a tendency to say to much.
one of these days i'm gonna get in trouble for it again... i just recently told my sil that the blood thing doesn't bother my conscience.
i told another close friend that i was relieved my husband was no longer reaching out to be an ms because i didn't want to have to deal with the pressure all the time.
Those of you who have been successful- What works?? Especially with family?
Ps- Cogac-
Except with my husband, who is mostly out now
Congratulations on that!! Raising a kid with one parent in and one out can create a bit of stress.
the january km is completely different.
the style has been totally revamped
My 2 cents:
This is another episode in the ongoing battle between the Writing Department and the Service Department. The Writing department prepares books, magazines, etc. and feels quite proud of their work (supress the gag reflex). The Service Department has always prepared the Kingdom Ministry (or Kingdom Service,or whatever) and its drab style, repitious and boring content, and uninspired graphics have always been a source of embarrasment to Writing, who feel that they should be preparing it (it is written after all). Service always jealously guarded the KM as the one printed product and meeting that they could control. I doubt that Writing took over the KM- but it looks like a compromise happened.
