More legal insulation. The GB is a group of guys that have all taken a vow of poverty. They have no assets to speak of- not a very tempting target for a lawsuit. The corporation- which likely does own assets- has no paper trail connection to the appointment of elders and congregation governance.

Letters to the Body of Elders (BOE) - Change in Letterhead
by Oubliette inwithin the last few hours, two separate posters, watchtower87 and pixel, independently posted news of a april 22nd, 2014 letter to the boe regarding a change in how elders are to be appointed and deleted:.
boe - pdf - confidential 2014-04-22 adjustment in process for appointing elders and minisletter to boe: adjustment in process for appointing elders and ministerial servantswhat i found very interesting is the letterhead and the signature.
they are both from "the governing body of jehovah's witnesses" and not from "the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses.".

Where's the "like" button on this forum?? Skully nailed it. This policy is intended to further insulate the heirarchy from liability stemming from actions of elders.
The lawyers are really running the place!!

Anyone been watchtower conductor
by Saltheart Foamfollower ini think there is a good chance i'm going to be asked to be the watchtower conductor.
on the one hand, i'll find it quite difficult some weeks having to go along with what is written.
on the other hand, there'll be opportunities to ask controversial questions (within limits).

I have done it before. It is tough. You're supposed to cover all of the detail in the paragraph, get people to think, not make it boring and engage multiple people in the audience- not just the same 3 people. Oh- and you have to stay paced and on time- not rushing at the end.
Also- doing the WT really gives you a lesson in the "head fakes" in the articles. "This article is about how everything we should do should be for love of Jah"- then never mentions that again- turns out to be about how we have to work hard to get into the New System!
Very monotonous and draining if you do it week after week.

Will firing the DOs be the first step to a new Watchtower?
by Juan Viejo2 inagainst my better judgement, i've decided to share the following as a response to guy pierce passing and the announcement of the elimination of district overseers later this year.. late in january (2014) i got an email from one of my contacts (a fader) who served at bethel for several years, but is no longer at wt hq.
he still has a lot of close contacts within the service department and in other departments at patterson and knows people in all of the ny offices.
i kept this email set aside on a flash drive and haven't shared it with anyone - figuring i'd publish an article about it later this year when i had more time to do it right.

If this pattern is true- look for Brumley- head of legal to be appointed. Just not anointed. Looks like they can fix that.

she didnt complete the whole page becuse she clicked on the links to those subjects.. we talked about them and she agreed with it.

Make some friends outside the borg. Invite a neighbor over to cook out or go hang out with some friends from work. You will both want these new social connections when the inevitable happens. It makes fading much easier.

Has anyone accidentally stumbled across someone they knew on here?
by SecretHeart11 ini keep hoping and doing searches on the site for people in my area.
so far no one i recognize.
i have a few df'd friends that i lost touch with long before they were out (two who were elders actually when they got the boot) and would love to find out they were on here, but don't know if they plan on coming back.

JWs no longer taking the Governing Body seriously.
by kneehighmiah inthe recent letter being us to come to detroit shows that jws are beginning not to take the gb seriously anymore.
the buzz following the meeting was that the letter was unprecedented in its tone.
this coming from long time jws of 30 years plus.

They used to be old and speak with funny accents (Klein) and say things you couldnt really understand (Ghengis, Franz) and speak very authoritatively about far away places (Henschel, Jaracz). They would charm and terrify at the same time (Sydlick).
Nowadays they just seem to be guys that never get out, got married way too old, and just dont get it.

Atlanta International Convention Hotels Not Being Filled Up!
by James Jackson inthis week our kh devoted the whole service meeting to the upcoming international convention in atlanta.
they read a 5 page letter from the branch which stated basically that we should feel priviledged to be invited to this convention.. however, many are not using the "recomended lodging list", "many hotels still have plenty of rooms available", "we must be loyal to this arrangement", (or the organization will not get their comp rooms)..

My info is old- but it was never a "pre-pay" arrangement in the past. It was a typical convention arrangement. We'll put you on our preferred list in exchange for special pricing- and the organizing committee gets a certain number of comp rooms to hand out to VIPs. At Bethel it was always a mad rush to put in your Special Needs room request form (oh- you thought that was for poor JWs to get to stay with local publishers... maybe for the typical poor publisher thats how it worked- but at bethel they are an application for one of the VIP rooms- Of course the more I the VIP the better the room!!)

Looks like the trend away from big stadium conventions is over. Huge venues!
