They didn't give them gold watches, they gave them a dildo and told them to stick it up their asses...becasue they're all screwed!
Deserves a LOL and BTT
i just heard this - anyone else?
i was curious as to the reason people were given for this.
and i can't help but think of those that will be trying to get a job in this economy, with few skills and probably no college education.

Are there particular types of positions targeted for downsizing? It would seem that technology upgrades would make some of the old printing, packing and shipping jobs redundant.
Yeah- the following positions are targeted: whiners, people who miss too much work, people who are not zealous enough, etc, etc. Seriously, there is no "technology" component- that would indicate organizatonal intelligence- which is non existent. Just a chance to get rid of non-performers. Sucks- because the whole culture of Bethel encourages non-performance.
i told him that i have no intention of leaving.... he told me that i was like "a dog returning to its vomit"... .
Good job. He seems open minded enough. Let him take his time (and kick him in the nards when he's taking too long- no don't do that- I may meet him someday and he will hate that)

It started again a few weeks ago. 1000 sounds like a severe exaggeration. I heard that there were 40 at WTF leaving. Still new ones coming in- young, dont mind cleaning toilets. It will be tough for anyone to recommend a "Bethel Career" after this.

Ditto what everyone else said. My wife came to a realization some years ago that she was sick of what she heard at the KH. She told me how she felt and left it at that. She continued to attend occasionally. Eventually, I looked around on the internet and was blinded by the light. Everything I ever doubted was confirmed. The speed with which my eyes opened was mind boggling. But she allowed me to come to conclusions in my own time. By the way- she still doesn't like this site- but thats ok- she took a separate path to freedom.
Give him time. Let him know how important your relationship is to you. Let him know how much he's hurt you. But his eyes will open at a different time and for different reasons than yours did.
My 2 cents.

it has long been the practise for hlc members to give occasional (usually annually) public & special talks and local needs items on blood & related issues at meetings.
these were often quite well organised with powerpoint presentations , handouts and open q & a session.. as of jan 2008 , the wts has written to all hlc members telling them that they can no longer do this & has written to bodies of elders telling them that they can no longer invite brothers to give talks , especially concerning the "advance medical directive document".. a hlc friend tells me that the wts apparently are further wanting to distance themselves from possible legal action and are also concerned that some hlc members are putting their own slant on the wts "conscience matters"..
Sorry guys- I think you all have it backwards. The HLC brothers presentations have the effect of informing Witnesses that they CAN accept certain treatments that most assume would not be acceptable. (You CAN have fractions, recirculation, etc.) It is well known that the GB is not unanimous on this issue and that some members of the GB would not personally accept fractions, etc. The direction sounds to me like a pullback. The "no fractions" camp got its nose out of whack that the HLCs are going around saying that fractions are OK.
Some HLC brothers talk about people lying in hospital beds not understanding the "new light" The HLC brothers have to explain and reason with the people that there are acceptable options.
Sorry- really twisted, I know. Up is down, down is up.
1. bethel in ny suspect high level apostate, cant identify it but know its there.
2. major organizational changes about to start rolling out, one is changes to the "service committee" and titles, po to be done away with, thats all i know for now.
was told that if you are the sort of person that cant handle changes, you wont stay in the org for long.
I can confirm the "layoffs." Another round started a couple of weeks ago. (A continuation of what happened a few years ago). But as for major doctrinal and internal struggle, sounds like wishful thinking. Wish. Wish...
why in the world did they choose to call it that!
i remember the horrific way it always sounded to me...the torture stake.
couldn't they have chosen something else?
I remember thinking- Oh- the cross is bad because it resembles a phallus.................but the stake kind of looks more like a phallus??!!
on the basis of the sacrifice of jesus christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to jehovah to do his will?
do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of jehovah's witnesses in association with god's spirit-directed organization?
question # 2 had to be drawn up by a lawyer.
The second question gives your consent to be disciplined by the org. Stand trial before a JC, be DF'd etc.
i haven't posted much in a while because i've been in deep thought about some recent events and trying to sort them all out.
i think you guys all know me well enough to know if i'm just freakin nuts or not...so assuming you all think i am sane...does this sound crazy to anyone else?.
when i got here, people kept telling me that if you come here, walk here, and are supposed to be living here, you will do so within a month of touching the ground.
How about a little less supernatural explanation. You started fresh- with a new take on life. Your new openness made you able to take advantage of opportunities you may not have been able to see before.
"The more prepared you are, the better luck you have."
My (newly acquired athiestic, naturalistic) thinking is that most results come from your actions- whether you realize it or not.
(All that BS and I really still have no idea what you're talking about.)
