  Images of the new publication releases plus preface to new book...

  picked these up off the net.

  didn't see them here so i thought i would post.. i really like the back cover to the new book, showing pictures of a car from the 30's with "jehovah's witnesses" on the side.

  the pic of the guy in prison is beyond lame.. .

  1st- I like how Barr and Jaracz get a little cameo on the first page- just so we know who we're talking about when we say "Governing Body"

  2nd- I can't imagine how this book on Acts is going to work. The "work" described in Acts is nothing of the sort and doesn't even slightly resemble what JW's do today. And the "organization" in the book of Acts is not really organized at all, much less look like the JW heirarchy of today. I suppose there will be a lot of "hunt and peck" and "cherry picking" of scriptures.

  How was your Memorial Day?

  we had a blast.. first - yesterday i got my flags out and hung properly for the summer.. today we had a little bbq.

  we had family and just a few friends over and played softball and talked and drank some beer.

  my gay friend jeri and i did tequila shots [i never did that before!]..

  Marched in a parade. Went to a little league game. Quite a difference not having all of the guilt/stress hanging over.

  (Raises hand sheepishly) Yes- I did it. Not really proud of it. When you really believe that you know the truth of the universe, its pretty shocking what you can be convinced to do.

  Shortest eldership ever?

  as many of you know, while i was already a member of this forum and very much awake i became an elder.

  so, there is no holy spirit involved on those appoinments boys and girls.. i tried my best wake up people, but is not that easy you know.. months later i decided it was enough and decide to move away.

  i can't give you any details at the moment, but .... rumor has it, i am not an elder anymore.

  Garybuss, your comments are very insightful. I think that describes perfectly the situation of many fathers who have grown accustomed to the respect and fulfillment they find in the Borg.

  QUESTIONS ABOUT BETHELITES

  how much does each bethelite earn per month while working at watchtower offices in new york?

  do they fill out tax benefits annually?

  do bethelites earn supplementary unemployment benefits from ny state for being 'ungainfuly' employed?

  They also avoid tax implications by calling the money a "reimbursement" for personal expenses. It is not payment for services rendered- otherwise it is severly below the state and federal minimum wage.

  The legal department has a tax preparation group that prepares the taxes for all bethelites every year. That way, no one slips and calls the reimbursement income. The only income that is reported is from "G" jobs. (side work picked up by bethelites to give them some additional income)

  I've met some of them too- and they are nice people... until you realize that

  • They forced Ray Franz out for thinking
  • They know the truth about 607 and 1914 and keep teaching it
  • They might doubt that the blood policy is the actually the correct interpretation of the scriptures, but they keep enforcing it.
  • They know everything we know- but they stay where they are...

  Nice guys...

  Another classic head fake from the WTBTS. Lets talk about focusing on the new system. And about half of the article is actually about that. The second half is all about how bad you are and how dead you will be if you don't keep focusing.

  But I guess they couldn't title the article "Keep your eyes on the prize- and if you don't you'll die like Judas"
