Aussie actor Heath Ledger was found dead this morning

just read in our newspaper that he was found dead in his bed this morning.

i thought he was a great actor.. r.i.p.

RIP, Heath Ledger. I was always a fan. FHN, I loved 10 Things I Hate About You Too! A spin on Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. I also really liked A Knight's Tale.

One article said he had been complaining that stress of work had him struggling with insomnia and that he could take two sleeping pills and not even sleep for an hour. It also said he had pneumonia. Could pneumonia plus too many sleeping pills (I'm thinking more than 2, obviously) combine to cause an overdose?

Have you noticed that disfellowshipped Witnesses are treated differantly?

my family does not speak to me.

i have no problem with that as they are pains in the ass.

but during my tenure as a jw, i noticed that differant families would treat their df'd members differantly, even if they didn't live in the same household, often inviting them over for dinner, etc.

when i was df-ed...i had no association with anyone...no friends , family, elders...as per my and their understanding of org procedure based on bible principles.
the result..she was reinstated within 5 months (altho she was not a strong believer) and to my knowledge continues to this day.
i was refused reinstatement for a year and a half as a result of which i lost all my faith in a loving god, lost all my friends, strained relationships with my family continue to this day, no desire to fix my marraige, lost all my work, had a complete nervous breakdown, bankruptcy imminent, and no longer an attendee...
gotta love the irony

TIJKMO, I know it didn't feel like it at the time (I know because I went through COMPLETE isolation too, and I'm still messed up socially to this day) but they actually did you a favor! You were able to wake up from the lie! If you had been reinstated as quickly as the girl was maybe you'd still be a Witness today! *Gasp!* Rachel

Yes, because disfellowshipping is an unfair rule dealt out on familes who have broken hearts and consciences, and who try to do what "Jehovah wants" which is supposedly cutting off and shunning their own family, but this hurts a lot so families will deal with it however they are able to. It's completely inconsistent because it's completely unnatural.

I used to be bitter when I saw families associating with their disfellowshipped family member. That was when I was a Witness. Now I'm so glad for anybody and everybody who can see beyond the crap and treat their family the way they are naturally inclined to. Of course, I am biased, because I'm on the receiving end of family shunning due to leaving the religion.

Also, whoever said the JW's are full of crap had it right. Don't try to figure out the logic. Hey, maybe instead of trying to prove points to your cousin, ask HIM to explain to you about your question. Maybe he can do it better than we can, because he knows the truth or what-not.

My new favorite coffee mug is one that a friend gave me for Christmas last month: it has a picture of a burning NWT on it.

I'll take a picture if you want...but that does seem like a lot of work. (Talk about lazy!)

My long-time favorite mug is one that former coworkers gave to me as a parting gift when I moved on to another job years ago. It has a rainbow-ish design on it and it's basic shape, white ceramic.I have no idea why I love it so; I just always find myself grabbing for that one!

As a JW, YES, I was secretly disappointed that it wasn't here yet. I couldn't say that though, because that would be like conceding that I am lacking faith.

Now, I just wish my family would wake up. Maybe in 2014 they will realize they've been had...

Never Thought About Suicide. Why not?

i was doing some thinking this morning about my mother, when she said she wanted to "work on our bond" over a pizza, and i pretty much didn't bother with the offer.

i was thinking about how i'd confronted her before my boy was born about all the physical abuse which she denied.

i started thinking back to that time in my life, when i would shake uncontrollably thinking about school, let alone actually going to school.

I agree wholeheartedly with what Crumpet said.

I thought about suicide from at least middle school on. I remember actually thinking about it younger than that but don't know that I fully comprehended what it meant. I once told my childhood best friend at the time that I thought about it, and her conditioned response was "Jehovah won't resurrect you if you do that, so go ahead, but no one will ever see you again."

Sweet. I believe we were about six at the time.

I didn't try it because I didn't want to hurt my family. I didn't want to not get into the paradise. Funny how later the JW doctrine helped me come to the conclusion that I would just die forever, go to sleep, never feel pain again. It was so tempting...

Nosferatu, I'm amazed at your spirit, that you never considered it, despite your horrifying childhood. It makes me wonder what is wrong with me, because I didn't have a childhood like yours, and yet I wanted to escape so badly that I considered it all the time... I guess you are just stronger.

I saw it. Yes, I think The Princess Bride is a good comparison. I thought it was really a cute movie. Though I'm very fond of The Princess Bride, so I can't say it was better. I will say they were both equally good in their own way.
