I don't think that will ever happen! They'd have to rewrite their Bible first, and have some serious new light in their publications! Then someone here could make yet another flip-flop thread/video/article.

Will Women Eventually Start Being Used As Servants?
by White Dove inas the men in the congregations suffer from burnout and quit helping out as ms and elders, do you think the situation of shrinkage will become so desperate that the wts will be forced to start using women in positions of authority?
they have a huge commodity that they are refusing to use.
that makes no sense at all.

by Elsewhere ina: i block your car.. today i was out and about enjoying a rare day off work.
all was well and i was feeling good and having a good time... then i came home and found this grey honda parked in my driveway blocking me from parking in my garage (the one i pay $70 a month for).

Oh, man, I can't believe the people who are freaking out on this thread! You would have thought that Elsewhere popped this guy's tires or keyed his vehicle! ALL HE DID WAS PARK AT THE END OF HIS OWN DRIVEWAY! GET OVER IT, PEOPLE! He was even courteous enough to leave a note with an apartment at which this fool could find him! The ass who parked in HIS driveway didn't make it known where HE could be found! Shite, people, overreact much? (Elsewhere, good on you; I think this is just awesome, BTW.)

i don't know how to interpret that.. .

I still don't get how they can be OK with this (besides the obvious reason of not having to go out to meetings three times a week not including field service meetings). I mean, if the end is so near, shouldn't they be meeting MORE, and maybe even in secret, rather than decreasing the weekly meetings by one all of a sudden? My mother used to tell me constantly that if I missed a meeting I wouldn't know where the next one was to be held as the JW's could be banned any moment now (I live in the U.S.) and the great tribulation and all that blah blah blah. This sure doesn't seem like the end is near, folks!

What was your saddest day as a JW?
by jambon1 ini had many days like this but i will never forget the time that a 'prominent elder' publicaly declared that he wants to see the worldly people die at armaggeddon.
"i hope that i can look out the window & watch it all happening".
i went home and thought; 'wtf am i a part of here'?

Sass wrote: "By the end of that year, all the sad JW times were over, because I knew I could never get reinstated and that it wasn't my fault how much that hurt my family." Sass, this account is very touching. I understand so much of what you went through. This last sentence especially touched me. Just wanted to comment on that, thanks for sharing. Peace, Rachel

Free Will?
by ex-nj-jw ini just had a conversation with my sibling regarding free will.
he's going on and on about how jehoover gave us free will and that gives us the choice to accept him or not.
now, i will confess that i never paid attention at the meetings, didn't give a hoot about doctrine, the bible or whatever they were spewing from the platform so maybe that's why i don't get this.

The day I realized I would lose all the friends and family I had known growing up as a JW unless I continued to live a lie. I chose to be true to myself, and yes, it hurts to know these people were only conditional friends and family. Freedom has its price, but it's still ultimately worth it. Peace, Rachel

Sounds like a trick to me... God says "you have a choice, but one of them is WRONG!" Um, how is that a choice? I think you can't wrap your head around it because it's circular JW logic. It's like when they tell you to believe what they tell you because they were the ones who told you and they are God's spokespeople and therefore it's the truth. Huh? Does your head hurt? Take two advils and stay away from the kingdom hall! Peace, Rachel

Born in or Converted to JW? What are the stats here? and why....
by oompa incan't everyone just put this one item on their profile before posting.
it seems like most posters have no profile, but this info could help in several ways.
i am just guessing, but it seems like more here were born in.....your thoughts on this?......oompa.

Born in. It's in my profile:
Born and raised one of Jehovah's Witnesses, baptized in my mid teens, disfellowshipped and reinstated twice in my early 20's, and finally faded in 2006. I am still trying to learn the truth about The Truth. I find the commonality I have with other posters here therapeutic. I just want inner peace.
2nd generation - my parents converted before I was born. I'm faded now.
Also count me in as one with a very controlling mother. I miss her so much. But my life is much more peaceful when I limit my contact with her. She alters between talking to me and feeling guilty about it so then making up for it by shunning me. The hot/cold thing is so much fun (not).

I always thought when I was a witness they said if you go somewhere physically with a female it was dating. Like go to coffee, go to a restaurant and eat , etc. I've never heard that talking on the phone regularly with someone of the opposite sex is considered dating , at least I never heard that when I was a witness ! I think the young lady is blackmailing you to like her by spouting off " fictitious " rules by the organization - and then entrap you in some precarious way ! Like TIRED of the HYPOCRISY said, " I'd stop calling her. " No matter what her unknown motive is - I think she wants to control you, and is up to no good ! Be careful. Peace out, Mr. Flipper
Yes, this is actually a rule, one of the unwritten ones. I got in trouble in high school for talking to a boy on the phone on a regular basis. We were told we were dating, even though we were only talking on the phone. Yes, I thought it was stupid then, and I still think it's stupid.
There has been some great advice on this thread. I agree with what Tuesday and others have said, that if you are contacted by anyone you need to be clear that she asked for your number, you gave it to her thinking you were reaching out and being part of the group, she text messaged and contacted you, you were just being polite and friendly.
In my case the boy and I were actually talking on the phone for hours. If you barely responded to this girl, and then answered her question about dating honestly, I can't imagine how the elders could actually think you led her on. If you spent hours talking to her and getting to know her, and THEN said you weren't interested, I could see how she might feel a little bit slighted, but still not enough to involve the elders.
Speaking of which, I can't believe she would actually involve the elders. YIKES. That is really something. What a relief that we are not that brainwashed and choose to think for ourselves and govern our own lives!
Oh, one more thing, you don't actually owe the elders any explanation at all. If you don't feel like talking to them about it, don't. They are not God's spokespeople, they do not have authority over you unless you let them have it, so if you are inclined to just avoid them, go for it. Of course, I know this is easier said than done.
Good luck, Superman. Go meet a "worldly" girl and try to stay away from the sad lonely Witness girls. Poor things.
Peace,
Rachel
