recently we seem to have had a few different dramas and subsequent fallout on the fourm which i feel has detracted from its purpose.
with this in mind we have decided that we need to bring the forum back on track and as such we will be clamping down on a lot of the aggressive / insulting posts which have begun to become the norm for a few people.
we will also be clamping down on the paranoid assusation type of comments against newbies, if someone joins the fourm and you do not believe everything they post - so what, why do we need to hound them away with shouts of troll and fake etc, just ignore them if you dont beleive them.
Makes sense, and is much appreciated. I for one have felt anxious lately that I'm going to be lynched if I can't prove who I am in real life. I know I'm real, and I also know I don't want my JW family to know who I am here. I don't lie, but I also am not going to provide identifying proof if I am questioned, not on a public scale anyway. I think the entire forum needs to be refocused as to its actual purpose, and your comments really point to reaching that goal.

When I was reproved they read what my restrictions were, and it was so embarrassing. Anyone else have this experience?I didn't think they would do that. Maybe they did many years ago. Usually people can figure out that you're not answering, or not being invited to come up and give the prayer (if you're a man), etc.
For some reason I think it was this particular congregation that it happened in, not on a widespread level. It was less than 10 years ago. The thing that was the most embarrassing to me was that I got in trouble for messing around with my JW boyfriend who was in the same congregation and he was reproved that same night also. He didn't even show up to the meeting but I wanted to face my shame. What a fool I was. My boyfriend had a different elder make his reproving announcement and he didn't mention anything about his restrictions! I asked my JC chairperson about it later and he said that was up to his JC. It was so humiliating at the time, like one announcement immediately after the other, followed by a local needs part the same night about fornication, so EVERYONE knew what we were reproved for (if they hadn't already figured it out) PLUS they announced my restrictions and not his so it appeared (to me) that I was MORE TO BLAME. As he was born and raised in that congregation many people treated me like I WAS more at fault, or at least that's the impression I got. People would make comments about how their sweet boy would never have gotten into trouble before I moved in. Which is a crock of poo, because he had gambling and drinking problems before I ever got involved with him. I still remember that feeling, sitting through that local needs part, everyone staring at me, my face felt so hot and I just wanted to crawl under my chair and never come out. Rachel

A friend told me about this site when I was first having doubts and feeling extreme anxiety due to not being able to talk to ANYBODY I was close to about my doubts. I feel like this site saved my life, and still is, to this day.

I don't know if this is the "norm"; but around here they would always have the regular annoucements and then say "There is another announcement that Brother ____ has to make" and then a elder would walk up with a piece of paper (you always knew what was coming with this happened) and look at it and read off "so and so has been df'd from the congregation of JW"....like they needed the paper to read off of! From what I understand they know say, "so and so is no longer a JW". I was announced as df'd in '01.
Then it seemed like later in the month they would have a special needs talk and if you didn't already know from the rumor mill, you could figure it out from this talk why the person was df'd.

Thank you for all your responses. OUTLAW, you completely understand me, even if you don't know it. After reading all the very good responses, and Blondie's research (THANK YOU, Blondie) I realized that my concern IS regarding "new light" and if "new light" was that Armageddon was here and that the JW's must now participate, we could have a very bad situation on our hands. We have no way to predict if the WTS really would do this, and in fact, I'm not even trying to suggest that they would. The thought just suddenly occurred to me that the WTS has that power, don't they? To instruct the R&F to kill, and many of them would do it. I just think the WTS is that dangerous. Like Diamond Blue brought out, they already do this with their laws on blood. Is it that much of a stretch to go from willfully dying and/or sacrificing your children due to an obscure scripture regarding blood to outright murdering apostates and/or others?
I'm not saying we should be afraid of this happening tomorrow or anything. But you could see the pattern developing in such a way that it could take place someday...?
