We are told that the product of the ages is 36, AlanF listed the possibilities.

We are told that the sum of the ages is a number which is not disclosed (number of windows).

At that point the friend says he needs another piece of information, so there must be more than one possible answer for the product and the sum specified. From AlanF's list, only two combinations give the same answer for their sum: 1, 6, 6 and 2, 2, 9.

I think the answer is 2, 2, 9, because the last clue is a reference to the oldest son, not oldest sons.

even after a year of thought regarding religion, and inparticular the jw faith... i am still no further forward as to whether i should go for it.. i realise that practically everyone who reads this post will be anti-jw; but i appeal to your unbias/ neutral side... if thats possible.. both sides have their own point of view... both are very convincing; i am just not sure what will "clinch the deal".. all i know is that i cannot go on like this for much longer!.

soul-destroying is an understatement!.

Well, WTT, thanks for the background info. I am sure I won't be the only one here to say that if your girlfriend wants to be a JW, it is for the best that you go your separate ways.

I have been thinking about your posts, and I suspect that if you are asking for advice here, you already know the answer. This place has to be somewhere under "ouija boards" in the JW list of approved information!

I can understand that you are looking for something spritual in your life - have you looked anywhere other than your local kingdom hall? Because of your relationship with a JW, those teachings have been at the forefront of your mind in tha past year. For all the hours JWs spend knocking on doors, the average man in the street knows next to nothing about their beliefs. Most of us here have been JWs and still have family in the cult, so it is of continuing interest. Maybe now it would be good for you to put that stuff to one side and start from scratch. I think it is more important for you to find out what is right for you than concentrate on why JWs are wrong. Don't assume that all the bad things JWs say about other religions are true - see for yourself, you might be peasantly surprised.

24 Hour Party People

has anyone seen 24 hour party people?

it gives props to the madchester music seen from the punk days of the late 70's throu the rave culture in the early 90's.

it is sort of a docu-drama that captures the life of such bands as the buzzcocks, joy division and the life of ian curtis, new order, a certian ratio, durutti collumn, and that loser shawn ryder and his band the happy mondays.

but nothing is perfect! they seem to have a lot of good quality points which make sense and follow the Bible more than other religions appear to.

It is true that no group of people is without its faults; but not all groups claim to be the exclusive mediator between God and man, demanding absolute unquestioning loyalty to its current rules and dogma. It does not take much effort to uncover the problems of the JW religion - are you ready to make such a huge commitment to a religion which is good in parts at best?

Have you looked as deeply into "many other religions" for their good quality points as you have the JWs? How have you convinced yourself of the validity and value of the Bible, and hence the importance of following it? I am still interested in what has drawn you to this particular religion - do you have family, friends or a girlfriend who are JWs?

I would like to know why your year of contemplation has concentrated on JWism. What other religions have you investigated?

Many years ago when I had a big bad Geordie lover, I would bring him a bunch of flowers from time to time. He seemed to like it. I would never have sent him flowers at work, though.

The current Mr Fe2O3 is the only man who has ever given me flowers. He buys them for me all year round. I don't want a bunch of overpriced wilting roses on Friday.

at the end of the last part, my parents had just arrived back from the tuesday night meeting after the theocratic ministry school with the elders.

its quite amazing that i still remember the names of all the various meetings so clearly, considering that im writing this 4 years after my disassociation.

as many of us have said, the anti-war posters have their views, and the pro-war posters have theirs, and regardless of anyones opinion, a war with iraq is inevitable.

What Do You Do to Relax?

i am hereby, for the next 24 hours at least, swearing off all serious topics.

yesterday was a brain-fry day, what with the harassment stuff, a call from our medicaid lawyer regarding my mother's application (not good news), doing bills, and fleeing to the gym at lunch only to find out i've gained two pounds since last week.. today at lunch i am going shopping by myself.

i am going to my favorite resale/antique clothing shop down the street and see if i can find something eye-popping for the apostafest.
