ROTFLMAO. That is hilarious. It reminds me of this super politically incorrect ditty by Jack Jones
Wives And LoversJack Jones
(Burt Bacharach/ Hal David)
Hey! Little Girl
Comb your hair, fix your makeup
Soon he will open the door
Don't think because there's a ring on your finger
You needn't try anymore
For wives should always be lovers too
Run to his arms the moment he comes home to you
I'm warning you...
Day after day
There are girls at the office
And men will always be men
Don't send him off with your hair still in curlers
You may not see him again
For wives should always be lovers too
Run to his arms the moment he comes home to you
He's almost here...
Hey! Little girl
Better wear something pretty
Something you'd wear to go to the city and
Dim all the lights, pour the wine, start the music
Time to get ready for love
Time to get ready
Time to get ready for love
Priceless! -

Hi Laura
I am 31 now, and I got out when I was 22. Unfortunately by then I had been dunked and married a JW. I escaped from both situations with a short taxi ride. After that I did go a bit mad with my new freedom, but I must be a big disappointment to the WT, because I am not dead, addicted to drugs, on the game, have never been pregnant, never had an abortion, no criminal convictions and still have my hearing [:D]
As far as my teenage years go - yes, I do feel I missed out. I missed out on the normal things that are part of social development - dating, going to school dances and so on. I did have some friends on the outside, but inevitably those friendships could only function on a superficial level. That said, although teenage years are usually a significant part of your development, in reality, they are a short part of your life, and you can make up for a lot later - without hurting yourself. I did. But I still wonder how things would have turned out if I'd have managed not to get sucked in so deep. I could not ask for more in my life now, so, things turned out OK in the end.
I remember your previous posts, and I know that you are desperate for some freedom.

As much as you may want to bolt out the door, take you time. Plan things out. Try to go to college first, if you can. Be ready to work really hard to turn your life out. Try not to burn your bridges. Understand that you are not all grown up when you turn 18. Understand that your parents love you. Understand that we all need help in life and make sure you have some support. And when you do leave home and go out on your own, consider getting professional help to work through issues around being raised a JW.
Do what you need to do, but BE SMART.
If you were raised like I was, then you have not learned some things about relationships and the world, and you are at a disadvantage out there. Take you time and be careful.
If I could go back in time and be 18 again, I think I still would still leave home, but I would be much more careful and smart. And I wouldn't go to so many parties.
Brilliant, brilliant advice. "Hang in there for a few more years" is probably not what you want to hear right now, but long term, it may be for the best.
Do you have a school counselor you could talk to? I know it is a long shot, but have you talked to your parents? I don't mean "confessing" everything - just to try to explain how you feel? I know it is a long shot.......but you never know..............
Good luck, ((((((Laura)))))). I hope you can work things out.

Spanking: some thoughts

We all can agree to that and in fact if positive reinforcement was 100% effective with our children we would always use incentives, rewards, warm counseling, instruction, etc. to produce the behavioural responses we desire. The reality however is that positive reinforcement is not effective all the time and therefore one must recognize that NEGATIVE reinforcement is not only valid but sometimes necessary to produce the desired change in behaviour
I don't agree. When I look around shopping centres and supermarkets at people hitting their children, it is not because the child has done some serious misdemeanour which the parent needs to correct immediately for the child's own protection, it is because the parent is too stupid and lazy to treat the child any other way. Or because they are an aggressive person who does not know any better, which is hardly a defense.
I wonder how you feel about spanking babies who can't be quiet for two hours?

You'll See
Written by Madonna and David Foster
You think that I can't live without your love
You'll see,
You think I can't go on another day.
You think I have nothing
Without you by my side,
You'll see
Somehow, some wayYou think that I can never laugh again
You'll see,
You think that you destroyed my faith in love.
You think after all you've done
I'll never find my way back home,
You'll see
Somehow, somedayAll by myself
I don't need anyone at all
I know I'll survive
I know I'll stay alive,
All on my own
I don't need anyone this time
It will be mine
No one can take it from me
You'll seeYou think that you are strong, but you are weak
You'll see,
It takes more strength to cry, admit defeat.
I have truth on my side,
You only have deceit
You'll see, somehow, somedayAll by myself
I don't need anyone at all
I know I'll survive
I know I'll stay alive,
I'll stand on my own
I won't need anyone this time
It will be mine
No one can take it from me
You'll seeYou'll see, you'll see
You'll see, mmmm, mmmm -

Profit of watchtower & awake, can anyone tell me???
by jamey X ini was raised as a jw until the age of 16, when i supposidly "drifted" to the worldly world (which i love) i am 29 now and have my own family and am very happy.
in the last month i have stopped feeling guilty & frightened about not being involved.
i have always tried to compensate to my parents in other ways, but am getting tired never being able to make them really happy.

Hello Jamey - Welcome to the board.
It is really good to hear that you have made a happy life for yourself outside the bOrg, it also sounds like you manged to escape before you werre pressured into baptism.
As far as getting the facts together on the behaviour on the WTBTS, well there is a lot of it! Pick your issue - blood, transplants, UN fiasco, child abuse cover ups, Malawi/Mexico, NWT translation commitee, 607bce, false prophecy, date setting.........
Many here have found that it does not matter how much hard evidence you present - even if the entrenched JW will look at it, it won't change their mind. However, some have had success in freeing their relatives from the WT - they are better to advise you.
In the meantime, leading a happy, successful, principled life outside the WT is an excellent display of who really has "truth".

Question about JW and Brooklyn
by Eppie inhai all,.
i have a question: when i read on this site i notice that many people are upset by the organisation of jw and not necessarily their beliefs (also, but less upset maybe?).
i have a question though: we talk about jws being indoctrinated and brainwashed etc., but where does it originate?

Charles Taze Russell was the driving force behind the Watchtower Society. After his death in 1916, Joseph F Rutherford was elected as president of the Watchtower Society.
As I understand it, Rutherford took over running the WT with an iron grip. Around this time, a group of Bible Students broke away from the WT Society. They maintained that the purpose of the WT Society had never been to direct and rule the local congregations as Rutherford was doing, and that had not been the intention of CT Russell. This group still exists, and some posters on this board are Bible Students. Maybe "RR" can verify or expand on this.
A lot of the current JW organisation hinges on the "faithful and discreet slave class" idea, commonly abbreviated to FDS on this board. JWs teach that FDS is supposed to be God's channel of communication to his followers, and is made up of the annointed remnant on earth. In reality, all doctrine is issued by the Governing Body, not by the few thousand who claim to be annointed.
I have also wondered what is going through the minds of that handful of old men in Brooklyn, holding life or death decisions for millions of believers. They signed the forms to apply for UN NGO status, they sanctioned bribing officials in Mexico while brothers in Malawi were bineg killed for not carrying a party card, they flip flopped teaching on organ transplants, what blood fractions are allowed and whether to shun a person who was never baptised. So they, unlike the average publisher sat in your local kingdom hall, are not ignorant of the hypocrisy. They also know how pointless and inefficient the door to door work is, while they urge the publishers to do more and more and more.
Are they really sitting in their ivory tower, beliving that they are being guided by God's holy spirit, as they simply vote on what teaching to adopt?
We can never know what is in the mind and heart of each of those men.
My opinion is this - they have all served the WT society all their lives. By the time they reach that position of power, they probably saw through the smoke and mirrors years ago. They stick with it for the glory, the power, and the very comfortable lifestyle. Maybe they convince themseles that what they are doing to millions of JWs is good for them - maybe they are just evil. I don't know. But they are responsible.
As long as families are torn apart and people are dying because of those mens teachings, there will be wounded, angry people to denounce the governing body. And it is happening because of their teachings, not because of God's commands. If the Watchtower said tomorrow that blood transfusions were allowed, nobody had to shun the disfellowshipped, and they did not have to go door to door anymore, ask yourself honestly - what would happen? They would happily (probably very happily) take it all in.

this is going beyond a joke what do you think?
by nelly1 ini was talking to a witness who is still in and she said they gave a talk at the hall, about submissive wives and were told that if the husband wants to go somewhere for the holiday and the wife want to go somewhere else she will need to be respectful and do what the husband wants.
and she can go on her prefered choice of holiday the following year...... .
the husband is to make all major decisions such as where they will .

This is precisely the JW view of married life - it might sound like a joke, but it isn't very funny when you are living it.
I am surprised they left out the bit about the wife "rendering her due". That has to be a JW husbands favorite quote.
