I think people stretch this a little too far. yeah it gets a little hard sometimes, but I wouldnt call them perfectionists because from a moral stand point I dont believe the things they ask of you are hard to follow. I never felt like I was judged to much and I played sports in high school. Sometimes I woner if people experiences would have been better in different congregations. There are bad apples in every religion. Im a jw backer and I will even admit I dont think alot of elders get things right, but there are probably alot of fake elders, but you have these things in alot of religions.

Do you expect perfection in people?
by MariAruet inmany witnesses are perfectionists.
they have this image of what you should be like before they can accept you as a person, but even then you are constantly being judged, so you are never good enough no matter how much you try.
ive been reading posts here for the last few months and have noticed that sometimes people are quite judgmental and even abrasive with each other.

reasoning
by BR25 ini read most of the posts on here and i was just trying to get an understanding on certain topics.
i read some peoples material and why they dont believe in the jw faith.
i understand that some people left the jw faith and some people on here may never have been jws or believed in it, so i understand why you post and give info back and forth, but i have trouble understanding some of the disfellowshipped ones on here.

What I am saying is that I believe some people come on here for the wrong reasons, and they never were disfellowshipped they would probably not waste their time to come on here. I just dont get how people come on here and all of a sudden they know everything and know all the lies and so forth, because most disfellowshipped ones dont know that till after the fact of listening to people on here.

Look I said I was talking to most disfellowedshipped ones who come on here who know they done wrong. I know some of you have experiences that arent the greatest that is why I said this was not directed towards everyone.
Also there are bad people among all religions and there are crooks in every religion.

I understand that some people left the jw faith and some people on here may never have been jws or believed in it, so I understand why you post and give info back and forth, but I have trouble understanding some of the disfellowshipped ones on here. NOTE: I am not speaking of all disfellowshipped ones.
To be disfellowshipped most of the time it is for something that even a non jw would not think is right, but I feel that some come on here for an outlet or try to find some relief of being disfellowshipped, whereas if you just left the congregation and was not disfellowshipped you might not even care to come on here.
My point is most people dont just wake up the next day after being disfellowshipped and automatically stop believing in the jw faith, but then they come on here and try to make it ok, and everyone makes it ok for them which is alright. You can do what you want, but I think alot of disfellowshipped ones come on here to grant themselves some kind of immunity. Like I said before you just dont wake up the next day and stop believing.
To be disfellowshipped you probably did something that there is not a good excuse for what you did. So then you feel guilty and you come on here looking for answers then everyone gives you all these logical reasons you are looking for. Its predetermined kinda like lawyers and then you start believing, which is fine, but then you start blasting the jw faith with all the hatred you got built up in you, and for what I ask, because most of you did something you shouldnt even done if you wasnt apart of the congregration. Most of you dont know what is said on here, what scriptures or info is on here, but when you find out, your posts turn into I am glad I am out, I always knew that it was a false religion, and so forth. This is total BS in my opinion, most of you probably dont know or think these things till you come on here, and some of you would never come on here if you did nothing wrong and you know it.
NOTE: once again this is not directed at all disfellowshipped ones. Those ones who ponder what I said for a minute are probably the ones I am referring to.

Any current Good Standing JW, posting here?
by NotaNess ini was wondering if there are any current regular posters here that are still active , but are mentally inactive and don't believe all the bull anymore, and are just going through the motions to keep their life with friends and family together.. i realize this might be a posting that will probably get 0 replies, but.......

I havent been to the meetings in about 5 years or so. I really havent felt the life changing experiences that everyone else has felt on here, so I still tend to back the JW faith. I guess I get a sense of relief of doing anything I want and not having to answer to anyone, but it is probably not stuff I should be doing in the first place. I guess I understand people on here who try to give biblical information about why they stopped going, but for the ones who say they finally are free to do whatever still puzzles me. Sure you feel like you constantly were watched, but I never thought anything they asked of people was to hard to follow. I feel like I could go back whenever, because I have been away for 5 years and nothing has gotten better.

MAN. Look at politics. Leaders- Bush, Shaperton. Suiside bombers. Hookers, sluts, prostitutes. Entertainment- drinking till you get sick, having sex with whoever. Non stop war. You know the world that jws get knocked on for not trying to be apart of. I dont believe God wants any credit for this pothetic world so I will say man cause they sure love it.

Woo Hoooooo
by sinis injust got my first tattoo - very large celtic cross across my whole forearm, and have also been smoking cigs, and cigars, on and off (social) - damn i feel great!!!
i was hoping that on the way back from the tat parlor a jw would spot me with a cig and a tated arm hanging out the window :) .
my jw wife isn't happy but i think she is turning ever so slowly - sort of "lukewarm".

It still puzzles me about the wonderful life once you leave the jw organization. So many great examples of the life you missed out on. No smoking, no affairs, no tattoos, no fighting. Gosh, must have been so depressing being a witness.

Why are JWs so disrespectful towards war veterans, etc?
by winnie ini never could understand this.
do they have no respect???.
this subject came up when my hubby was talking to his brother on the phone a couple months ago.
-

There is no lack of respect. My question is if you wasnt american and you lived in a country that got picked on and couldnt defend itself would you still like it then? People on here want to judge jws all the time just think about that question for a while. If you didnt live in the good ole USA would you still stick up for war if you had a bomb landing in you backyard everyday and you couldnt do anything about it? Yes the soldiers are brave and they did give me my freedom of speach, but we are no better than anyone else.

I dont think it is a lack of respect. I know that soldiers have to be brave and so forth to do what they do, but it doesnt mean you have to support it. Yeh we have freedom and I know we fight terrorism. Be a jw backer I dont back wars, but if I did fighting for freedom and terrorism to me would seem ok, but wars over oil, political topics and so forth being a jw backer or not to me doesnt seem acceptable. For those ones who believe in god how do you think he feels about this? I am asking about wars on oil and other areas you shouldnt go to war over.
