As MadTiger said "Don't rule out anything because of some previous prejudice against it. Open yourself to find the truth." How about Jesus. Religion has not taught Jesus correctly because religion can't do it. Holy spirit is the only way to learn about Jesus. He is the whole bible. There is more to learn about the real Jesus than you could ever learn. It gets more complicated the more you learn, while at the same time, more simple.

Thank you for posting this. My mom just told me that she was dying a few days ago. And I woke up this morning and saw this. I am very sad. Las night I dreamed about her. I was talking to her about her mom dying, but her mom was her. Then I went to a kingdom hall but it wasn't for a meeting or a funeral. It was some weird thing. My family went with me. And Rene's sons were there selling t-shirts and a bunch of other stuff in the lobby. I went up to them to try to tell them how sorry I was. They kind of didn't talk to me, and I figured it was because of me not really being a witness anymore. They were just weird toward me. The whole thing was strange. I'm thinking of going to the funeral. Would that be disrespectful? Are you going, Jeepthing?

Changeling,
In response to this--I was hesitant because of the "pray" part. I'm currently very anti-religion.
Religion is an awful man made thing to take people away from God. To teach them lies about God. I am also quite anti-religion.
However, don't confuse religion with God. God is not in religion. God wants you to come to him through Jesus, not through religion, without the lies that religion has brainwashed the world with. We all need to unreligion ourselves. Go to God in purity, like a child that has never been "taught" God. He truly does love you. Jesus dies for you. He made you clean and he takes all of your sins, every disgusting thing we do, and he takes them as if he has done them. He makes himself dirty so that you can be clean.
Don't let religion spoil your view of God. It's all lies. I ask you to go to God now, through Jesus and his love for you, and pray for faith. You can be mad while you do it, but try not to go in pride. Go to Him in desperation. Go to Him humbly, in truth. He will set you free. -

Prayer a Waste of Time?
by WTWizard inhow often do you hear about prayer at the meeting that, if you should pray that if jehovah wills that he should do something?
to me, this is a total waste of time to pray if that condition applies.
you see, if jehovah willed something, why would he need to wait for you to ask him for it?

Jesus prayed to God for "this cup" to pass away from him. He didn't really want to die, but he said that whatever God's will was, to let that happen. If God is willing to let his own son be brutally murdered, why should we expect any better? If I honestly believe that I deserve better that Jesus, then I must think pretty highly of myself. I ask, believe I'll receive, and if it isn't the right thing for me, then so be it.
I used to think that all good was from God and all bad was from satan. I do believe the first part. And some of the second part. Sure satan can temp us and try us, but God allows it to happen and it makes us strong if we don't fall for the lie that God allowed it because he doesn't care. He cared for his son, but allowed Jesus to die for us. Light doesn't need to argue with darkness. This is truth. -

No, prayer isn't a waste of time. That's a satanic lie. Ask in prayer, and believe that it will be done. Don't doubt. My guess is that people ask, then they immediately start doubting. Like me...it's an unimportant thing compared to life or health, but there's a wedding I need to go to that's out of town. The problem is that it's three days into the school year where I work. And I need to take Friday and Monday off. So I'm trying to take off the first Friday back and then the next Monday-right after I start work. This is frowned upon. My workmates will be burdened. We have a new principal who may want to set an example with me. And the superintendant may also have to approve it. I prayed about it. Then came the doubts. I doubt if, after I pray, I start in with the "I really hope they approve it" or "If I can't get off for this wedding I'm going to be so upset. What will I do? Will I quit?" See, those are doubts. Therefore, guess what? I was NOT believing that I would receive what I asked for. So now I am practicing(works) my faith, my belief that God can and will make it so that I can go. I can continue on with planning my trip and not doubting that it will fall through.
Some ask why we have to pray if God already knows what we want? You pray because it is by your asking through Jesus that you receive. It is an act of faith. It is working your faith. You know the scripture that the wts screws up, "Faith without works is dead"? Works isn't meetings and service. Works is ACTIVE faith. Believing in your prayers. Asking and then believing that it will be done. NOT DOUBTING AT ALL. My guess is that, like me, you've doubted. It takes a lot of practice to push out doubts, but I have proof within myself that it is possible to push them out and just believe. It's something that I constantly have to practice. I am believing a lie if I believe that my prayer won't be answered.
As far as praying against God's will....we don't always know God's will. I say there's no harm in asking. One person might ask something in full faith and receive it. Another might ask with doubts and not receive. Also, two people might pray for the same thing in full faith and one receives it and another doesn't because it wasn't God's will for that individual. If you ask for something that you know is wrong, such as for a person to die in an awful car crash, it isn't going to happen, I would assume, because you knew it was against God's will and therefore are putting Him to the test.
Waste of time? Maybe me posting this was, but hopefully someone will believe in God and Jesus and the power of prayer and faith. -

I know how you feel. The friends I had as a teenager where THE world to me. Way more important than family. They made me feel whole. Two of my friends were df'd and at the time I felt that I shouldn't talk to them and now they're lost to me from all the time apart. One of my friends lives a life of fake happiness, not as a witness anymore, but even worse, without God. I have my husband and his sister. It took a while for me to get over those friends. I held onto the special feelings I had with them. I yearned for it. But I couldn't have it. The only way I ever got over it was because of my Father and His son, Jesus. I've developed a relationship with them that I didn't know was possible and there's so much more waiting for me where that came from.
I'd honestly suggest this. Start praying to God and ask for His help to get over this girl. Then, EVERY TIME that you think of her and begin to miss her, say to yourself "NO, I can't have her. She isn't for me. I have to move on and focus on the good that I can do for God. I will be provided with a wonderful girl who God wants me to have, if that's His will." Something like that. I sincerely hope that you believe in God and Jesus. Maybe you don't. But the WTS does a great job at keeping Jesus out of our reach, and in turn, God too. As witnesses, we don't really know God, and have no clue about the love that is Jesus. So it takes a while to get to know them. The best way to do that is to pray, asking for help to really know them, read the bible, especially Matt, Mark, Luke, John, and everything from Paul. Also, James, read that. James is amazing. Basically it's about caring for others, loving them and not ignoring someone in need. Like Jesus. We have to follow Jesus. How would he handle every situation we find ourselves in? Wouldn't he try to help when he can, and leave it behind when there's nothing more that can be done?
You WILL get past this. But it's up to YOU to let her go. Not to let your feelings for her ruin you. You know you can't make her love you. So you have to move forward. Do it with God's help. Don't rely on yourself. Let them help. Every time you feel weak, pray. I hope this helps because I know that Jesus and our Father WILL help you because they love you. Don't belive the lie that they don't care about you or that they don't exist. That's so far from the truth. God is real. Jesus is real. They are here for you with arms extended toward you, waiting for you to grab hold. -

How do you know that there has never been an amputee who has been healed?
I never said that there has never been a faithful amputee who wanted to walk again. I'm sure there has been, and they've prayed to be healed. And, you know what? Maybe they were healed. If I were healed from something huge I would praise God and the people around me would know, but I'd never go on tv because you don't through pearls before swine. So maybe an amputee was healed and we just don't know about it. -

The original movie was interesting. The broadway musical is what the new movie is based on. But the broadway show is absolutely wonderful with a great sound musically. The movie seems to lack depth. I hate John Travolta now that he's older. And he's kind of a freak nowadays. Plus, if Oprah raves about something, them probably it isn't that great for me. Oprah and I don't have similar taste.

If you want an amputee to get healed so it can be proved that it was real, then you're only really wanting it as a test. To test God. Jesus didn't test God when Satan tried to tempt him.

In order to believe in healing by God, first you have to believe in God. Jesus healed people. So did his disciples. So did some of God's people before Jesus. It is possible. The question is if those gifts exist today. And if they do, are they being used for good. Is all glory going to Jesus and God? I don't believe anyone who asks for money is getting power from God. That isn't God's spirit, to ask for money. I guess it also depends what you mean by a faith healing. Do you mean the ones you hear about in news? Or the ones who pray about a friend who is really sick, and God heals that person? I think that can happen. It's called an answered prayer.
