in 1991, one of the watch tower societys senior writers, colin quackenbush, told me in the privacy of his office about letters which the society had received from prominent and credible elders, not apostates (thats exactly what he said), who were concerned about the increase in accusations saying that jehovahs witnesses were false prophets.

Sheesh! Admitting it is the first step.

The second step is this:

"I wish to apologize to all the ex JWs on this board for being so stubborn but in point of fact I was wrong, and you guys were right. "

And to that second step I would say to you: NO apology required. Absolutely NONE! You are more than welcome. Cue the drum roll.....In other words, DONT FEEL like you are so knee deep in "our bad books" that you cant admit you were wrong. Im wrong all the time big deal. We are here for support.

My wife has asked me to tone it down

lately i've been making a lot of negative comments about the wts at family gatherings, trying to plant seeds of doubt whenever i can.

but my wife thinks i'm going overboard and starting to raise suspicion.

we had a huge argument last night because i told her i'd rather not go to the gatherings at all than to stay quiet.

I like being shunned - how about you?

it was painful at first but now i see the advantages of not having needy relatives spending the weekend with me and scoffing my food and raiding my bar.

my wife is happier too.

it's like having a heavy rucksack removed.. i have 39 jw relatives and 38 of them shun me along with the army of ex-friends who remain in the tower.

I LOVE being shunned by the JWs and by my 2 thoroughly indoctrinated brothers, but NOT by my son..thank god he doesnt shun me outright! But, yeah, nothing worse for me than to be in the company of a freshly scrubbed Jeh WItNeSs

You could politely interupt her/them and change the subject with anything else, making ANYTHING ELSE more important, at least for the moment....hehe

You know, take away the "thunder" of the society and replace with "potatoes"...heh

Major flaw in the Society's 1914-Gentile Times doctrine

one of the major flaws (i say one because there are many) in the society's '1914-gentile times' doctrine is an oft-overlooked one.

very simply, the watchtower society predicted the end of the "gentile times" for autumn of 1914; yet the first world war began in the summer of 1914 (july 28) and really was triggered in june of 1914 with the assassination of archduke ferdinand.

as such, the first world war actually lends no support whatsoever to the watchtower society's 1914-gentile times doctrine despite the fact that the society has continuously offered it as support.. rutherford was very aware of this major discrepancy in the doctrine.

Enjoyed your research on this!...U know what any JW would say.,...:Well, before or after, it doesnt matter does it? The important thing is that the events happened around that time and JWs were there to point to the truth...blah blah blah...This point i think could mess them up though:

The Society says "the Gentile Times in 1914 and the outbreak of war on a world scale marked the start of his 'presence'". How is that possible when the "outbreak of war on a world scale" began *BEFORE* his "presence"?

Saint Peter addresses this guy, "Who are you, so that I may know whether or not to admit you to the Kingdom of Heaven?"

The guy replies, "I'm Joe Green, taxi-driver, of Noo Yawk City." Saint Peter consults his list, smiles and says to the taxi-driver, "Take this silken robe and golden staff, and enter into the Kingdom."

So the taxi-driver enters Heaven with his robe and staff, and Russell is next in line. Without being asked, he proclaims, "I am Charles Russell,Preacher and prophet and leader of God Organization on Earth" Saint Peter consults his list and says, "Take this cotton robe and wooden staff and enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

"Just a minute," says Russell, "that man was a taxi-driver, and you issued him a silken robe and golden staff. But I get wood and cotton. How can this be?"

"Up here, we go by results," says Saint Peter. "While you preached, people slept -- while he drove, people prayed."

If you already know whats supposed to happen to you,why dont you do something to THROW A MONKEY WRENCH into the whole bible prophecy thing? Like appearing before Mankind and telling everyone to worship Jehovah?

Does God prevent you from appearing to Mankind?

Do you consider yourself stronger physically than Jesus and do you think you can take Jesus in a fight?

Why dont you appear to the President of the USA or appear during Congress and then disappear just to make things intresting?

What happens when you try to go up to heaven again? Have you ever tried to go see the BIG MAN again just to see whats up?

How many ppl can you interact with at any one time and what kind of special powers do you have?

If you know theyre going to throw u into an abyss for a 1000 yrs do you have a plan to thwart that? Wat do u plan on doing for all that time intheir?

Have you ever had sex with a earthly woman or man, and if so , what was it like for you? Were you jelous the Nephilim got to have sex with earth chics?

Has GOD ever told you any secrets he didnt tell Jesus?

Are you the guy whos been flying around that UFO for all thses centuries?

Im finally leaving my jw husband.

some of you know i have struggled with this for awhile.

i really do believe in marriage and the committment, however, sometimes enough is enough.. his endless preaching at me and calling me and my (adult) children satan has me realizing that this situation is not going to get better.

the other day he kicked my son out of the house for wearing a cap, in his car, with a skull on it.

OMG!!! You just described my father! If he sees anything that can be construed as demonic then watch out , THE END is coming! Call the elders and purify the house! I feel for my mother who has to put up with all his paranoia. So i can really relate to your situation.

The thing that gets me is that now, after you leave for peace of mind, they are all going to be on the HUNT. What HUNT am i refering to you ask? THE HUNT to see if you are moral or immoral. The permission for him to proceed to find another marriage mate if of course that is what happens....Forgive me for bringing it up but I went through all that with my jw wife after a short 6 yrs of marriage as she wanted to remarry and sometimes it was the ONLY reason she talked to me through my son...at the time. If i could do it all over i wouldnt TELL THEM A THING.

I divorced her and I feel that leaving was the BESt possible thing i could do since it was living with a complete stranger. She wanted to eat sleep dream JW stuff. I only wanted to question it......

I hope the best possible future for you and your kids and am so glad to hear you cant swallow theyre crap and make "them" happy!

since da'ing my mother has always sorta kept in contact with me...until recently.. three years ago i started dating a guy, my bio father and step mother did not approve of.

my mother loved it, she fed off it.

THe more i think about it the more it actually makes sense: The world has it share of crazy religions and the JWs fit right into that mix perfectly. If it had not been invented by CT RUSSELL someone else would have come up with the idea sooner or later....Be that as it may, Im not above being proved wrong. If im wrong then a JW should step up to the plate and at least invent an answer. .....
