Debunking the Watchtower - Slam Dunks and Solid Arguments

there's a wide cross section of thinkers on this board, representing christian belief and non-belief and points in between, the agnostics.

there is most definitely a minority, mostly silent, of devoted jehovah's witnesses present, too, but their contribution to the dialogue and dynamic of the board is minimal.

that small minority aside, it can be said the people who venture into here to communicate with one another share a common paradigm, and that is the watchtower is built on a foundation of clay.

Well Nick, I don't know if you meant just using logic, or the Bible, because I don't think the Bible can be used to prove ANYTHING. But as far as debunking their own religion, since they BELIEVE it's the word of Jehovah, then I think there are just SO many, but this one always seems to slip under the radar:

"And I will send fire upon Magog, and upon those who are inhabiting the islands in security; and people will have to know that I am Jehovah. And my holy name I shall make known in the midst of my people Israel, and I shall no more let my holy name be profaned; and the nations will have to know that I am Jehovah, the Holy One in Israel." ~Ezekiel 39:6,7.

There are a few things that JW's must accept, from these two verses.

A. It is happening just before and during the time of Magog, which is now and in the near future.

B. God's name is NOT KNOWN, but he is going to MAKE IT KNOWN in the midst of them.

C. The name that's being used is either PROFANITY or it's profaning his real name somehow.

D. It is referring to Jehovah's Witnesses, because they are Israel today.

Is there a loophole in this that I've missed, or is it a slam dunk?

From what I understand, there are approximately 67 million inhabited worlds in the Milky Way Galaxy alone, and the predominant species in it is human. Although this is the case, the Earth IS INDEED special in that it is a free will planet, and many very important issues are being decided in this special time, the end of a 75,000 year cycle of evolution. The last time we had a quantum evolutionary leap, we went from Neanderthals to human embryos. We use only two percent of our brains because 10 of our 12 strands of DNA are not activated. We're about to become fully human, but the whole process may take hundreds of years. We're in unchartered territory so nobody really knows for sure how long it will take.

Many past "earths" have been destroyed by its inhabitants, and many of us were there to experience those things, but its not going to happen this time. We're moving past the cycle of needless cataclysms and heading into a far more advanced and godlike age of Oneness.

If they treat you like a human being and you get along with them, it makes sense not to rock their boat. At their age, they're not going to hurt themselves or anyone else. It's not like they're going to miss out on a college education or have all this unfulfilled potential.

None of life's experiences are wasted, it all goes into the great database of our spiritual evolution.

Body Mind Associations:

Location: Solar plexus
Color: Yellow
Parts of the Body: The parts of the body associated with this chakra include the muscular system, the skin as a system, the solar plexus, the large intestine, stomach, liver, and other organs and glands in the region of the solar plexus. Also the eyes, as the organs of sight, and the face, representing figuratively the face one shows the world.
Endocrine Gland: The pancreas
Sense: Eyesight
Consciousness: Parts of the consciousness associated with this chakra include perceptions concerned with power, control, freedom, the ease with which one is able to be themselves - ease of being. Mental activity and the mental body is also associated with this chakra. The solar plexus chakra is also associated with the level of being we call the personality, or ego.
The relationship a person has with fire, or the sun, can be seen to have its parallels in the person’s relationship with the parts of their consciousness that this chakra represents. Someone sensitive about the sun, then, can be seen to have particular sensitivities about power, or control, or freedom.

The Solar Plexus Chakra is associated with the parts of our consciousness having to do with perceptions of power, control, or freedom. In its clear state, it represents ease of being, and comfort with what is real for one's self - being comfortable with who you are.
Parts of the body associated with this chakra include the organs closest to the solar plexus - stomach, gall bladder, spleen, liver, etc. - as well as the skin as a system, the muscular system as a system, and the face in general.
The physical sense associated with this chakra is the sense of sight. Anyone with impaired eyesight experiences tension at the level of their solar plexus chakra about the issues of power, control, or freedom. Nearsighted people also experience tensions at the level of the Root Chakra, and experience the world through a perceptual filter of fear or insecurity. Those who are farsighted experience tension also at the level of the throat chakra, and see the world through a perceptual filter of anger or guilt. Astigmatics see through the emotional perceptual filter of confusion.
The endocrine gland associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra is the pancreas. We can say that diabetics are keeping sweetness from themselves. When someone gets too close with sweetness, they feel threatened in their power to be who they are, and an emotion comes up to create a safe distance again. The emotion is anger. Diabetes is associated with suppressed anger.
The element associated with this chakra is fire, and the person's relationship with the sun says something about their relationship with the parts of their consciousness associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra.

Just to clarify what it means to me, it would appear that Jesus came, not to establish a new religion, but to refresh and enhance established truths. That HE is the ONLY way, as a one-time historical "sacrificial lamb" who saves the *faithful*, and not as an EXAMPLE for us all to follow, is an invention of the Roman Church, for their own nefarious purposes. All this to draw attention away from our own PERSONAL SACRIFICES that we have to make to attain Christhood. This energy and consciousness enters our realm of reality and thoughts through the SUN, yes, the one in the sky.

I've brought this up before, so for those of you who remember, I apologize for the repetition. There are a couple of statements made by some very influential people in Christian history that would very strongly suggest that Christianity did not start with Jesus. The first is by the Apostle Paul:

".....continue in the faith, established on the foundation and steadfast, not being shifted away from the hope of that good news which you heard, and which was preached in all creation that is under heaven. Of this good news, I Paul, became a minister." ~Colossians 1:23.

Here, Paul is clearly saying, at a time before his missionary work to the West began, and TO THIS DAY his particular "good news" of Jesus Christ, as presented by the Christian religion, has YET to be preached to any significant extent in the Far East.... that THE ENTIRE WORLD ALREADY KNOWS ABOUT IT.

And of course, there's this little tidbit from, admittedly not the brightest of lights the Church ever had, but extremely influential nonetheless.....Saint Augustine of Hippo:

That which is known as the Christian religion existed among the ancients, and never did not exist; from the beginning of the human race until the time when Christ came in the flesh, at which time the true religion, which already existed began to be called Christianity.
