This question is for all of us who were ever associated with the WTS. Baptized, ministerial servants, elders, pioneers, etc, etc. Why is it that a lot of us call ourselves "free" when in fact we keep debating, putting down, hating, examining, analizing everything the WTS does, did and will do? Isn't this a waste of energy? Isn't this exactly enslaving? Instead of letting go we keep going and going, round and round we go... Some members here have done this for years, with thousands of posts. Is the WTS worth all this energy from everybody? Instead of being behind us, it's pretty much inside us just in a different way. Opinions...

If we are "free". Why are we still debating?

Why does being right = being arrogant?
by AlmostAtheist inwhat is it about a person's believing they are "right" that leads them to being arrogant?
you've surely noticed that the more sure a person is that he's right, the more likely he is to treat those that disagree with him with disrespect.
it's hard to see how a person can disagree with something that you know is right.

To answer that question all we have to do is look in the mirror. You guys are to tell me that never have you acted arrogantly towards anybody? If so, then you have the answer. It's a matter of honesty. Besides, arrogance is a perceived act. I suppose I could say arrogance is in the eye of the beholder. Body language can mean a million things. Sometimes we will be right in our assessment, other times we won't. Also, body language is affected by culture. What in one culture we may call one thing arrogance in another they may call it something else.

Love And Marriage Was The WatchtowerÂ’s Way An Advantage?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; } .style2 { font-family: arial; font-size: 18px; color: #8668e0; } .style3 {font-family: arial; font-size: 18px; color: #3300cc; } --> love and marriage was the watchtowers way an advantage?the thought of one man and woman bonded through matrimony was always appealing.
the society used to stress chaperons, however, i think in todays day and age.
however, did the societys way prove helpful in certain respects?.

Their views on marriage and sex go hand in hand. My marriage got ruined because my ex-wife believed there was only one way to have sex (boring) and believed (thanks to WTS teachings) that other ways were "unnatural". WTF!!! I love sex. Screw their narrow minded vision of how things should be. I'm a horny MOFO, I like to go out and party like an animal. I love women. Down with the WTS. Hail the GODS of SEX and partying. AS far as marriage... no. Not again...

It amazes me, that no violent acts have been perpertrated against the JW's
by JH inwhen i listen to the news about the school shootings in virginia, and the previous school shootings elsewhere, it amazes me that nothing similar has ever happened in a kingdom hall.. i'm totally against violence but i know that it just takes a nut, to do something like this, and there are plenty of nuts and angry people running around.... so many lives have been broken because of the watchtower, and so many jw's and xjw's are unhappy because of this sect.. are you also amazed that there has hardly been any violent crimes agaist jw's or the watchtower?.

I get the feeling somebody wants to see someone else get hurt. I was a JW in Mexico. People let dogs out on us, threw hot water at us, cold water, ran after us with sticks, etc. Fortunately I am out. Others will be too. I am sure those of you who were JW's wouldn't have liked to get hurt by others then. If that had happened you'd still be in and dubs would be saying: see I told you so, the "world" is this and that or the other... Besides, if you got anger in you, strap some gloves on, get into a ring or a cage and go at it. Don't be a f**ing p***sy and suggest that cowardly acts would solve a damn thing.

Mad- This is not about semantics. It's like porn, can't define it, but sure as hell know it when I see it... Mental gymnastics and dictionary definitions will never change the fact of what the borg does. It's there, in plain sight. It's just a matter of seeing it for what it is. Oh, BTW if any elders are sneaking on this site and reading this: kiss my ass!

I also salute you nvrgnvk. I'm here just as another testament of how the WTS can ruin your life and how it is possible to survive. Let the GUILT not shatter our happiness.

They are a f**ing cult. Just because they don't fit the definition of the "single leader" does not mean they're not. They're the exception not the rule in that regard. In every other aspect they are the rule. Just look at the thousands of people that lives' have been destroyed. They discourage college education, the blood policy, NO divorce unless there's adultery, no one is allowed to think for themselves, false prophecies, etc, etc, etc. Talk about big brother...

Do your elders know you're engaging in religious debates with apostates over the internet? Didn't think so...

I train jiu jitsu and MMA in one of the best gyms in the Midwest! Actually, Sean Sherk used to teach the combat submission wrestling here. We have some bad ass dudes training at this place. Anyway, I don't think I could be doing this if I were a JW. I quit once when I baptized and I'm not planning on doing it again! One thing that I have is a lot of anger!!! You know how it goes... can't do this, can't do that, can't listen to this music, can't wear this clothes, can't talk to these people, can't do that sport... whadafxup??? I'm really angry! ANGER IS A GIFT.

I'm new here. Left the org about 4 years ago. Cheated on ex-wife, confessed had JC done but was not kicked out. Went on my way, moved from Mexico to the States 3 yrs ago. For some odd reason I still feel guilty about things (about the org), it's like I don't enjoy my freedom much. I used to tell ex wife after I baptized that everytime they asked for more and more. I don't understand a lot of the things being spoken about here. I still think that people in the org are genuinely ok. I'm not saying I'd go back, I just want to understand. Also, I believe no group or organization is perfect, so why rip on the JW's. I'm not trying to be argumentative, just want to understand. I was baptized for maybe 2 years before I left and I have mixed feelings. If anybody has any opinions please let me know. I feel like I have a big weight on my shoulders and I need some help. All of this became stronger when a sister came to knock on my door and I accepted the magazines. It's BS, I don't know why I feel like this. Was (is) it part of mind/group control? What the heck??? I'm always feeling guilty about one thing or the other... it just won't let me be.
