Our soldiers go spill blood against tyranny, then they come home and we give the country and its resources back to the people who live there. "I am leaving"

bigdreaux's thread caused me to think back on similar threads where the poster's have been blasted for their exit threads.

most try to reason with the poster with positive responses and try to get them to stay with us, but a few have posted negative thoughts to being downright nasty.. i have noticed various post's stating "you'll be back" (in sarcasm) to those who outright state that we are better off without you (the poster who says goodbye.).

there have been good people here, bigdreaux included, who are ostracised for their post to say goodbye.

If I see a good bye thread, I will likely comment asking that person to stay.

Whether they go or stay is up to them, but I put my oar in saying that somebody cares.

As for being hurt by what someone says on the board, nobody has said anything harsh to me as yet, but I think it might start soon.

Oh well, I think what I think, believe what I believe, and say what I say, and expect SOME level of disagreement.

Big, I am glad you are staying.

Just for the record, if I missed your goodbye or anyone else's, I am rather sporadic on my pc use and prolly missed it.

I doubt I will ever post a goodbye, I'll likely either fade away, or just drop dead on my keyboard.

Is sec, before you get all condescending about JD learning some roman history, shouldn't you reconsider your statement that the US has never had a war where we defended our actual land from invasion?

as to all the wars we have been involved in since WWII being unjustified imperialism, that is a load of twaddle if I ever heard one.

Stalin killed 20 million people and lowered an iron curtain over half of europe, and was trying to extend his dominion to our allies as well, he made Hitler seem like a schoolyard bully.

Fighting the spread of communism fits your own definition of 'defending our allies against imperialist invasion.'

After the bloodthirsty hippy peacenicks made us pull out of viet nam, pol pot killed half the country while Noam Chomsky did his PR work calling him an 'agrarian reformer.'

I suppose all those bodies were to fertilize the fields?

I really think liberalism is about feeling good, but that often entails niavete and closing one's eyes to reality.

Conservatism isn't perfect either, but at least we try to make sure our nations enemies are room temperature instead of serving them tea and crumpets.

If you want peace, make it a bad bet to attack you. there will always be those who desire what you have, or to take you down a rungs. We have a responsibility to our children to ensure that they are safe, and the biggest threat we currently face is islamic fascism, communism might be staging a comeback, and the neocommunism of today's hard left poses a fifth collumn danger right within our walls.

This is no time for feelgood catch phrases that mean nothing like 'rich men start wars, poor men fight them' and 'war profiteers.'

I've started about a zillion of these, this is the part where I agonize over whether to click submit...

let me begin by saying that i never expected to even talk about my situation let alone discuss it on the internet but i guess im just feeling so sad that i must hope that someone will understand and give me encouragement...so here it goes.. .

but the more active i got, the more abusive my stepmother became.

Maybe it will help if you look at it another way, From your tale I think you have never really HAD a father. You can't lose what you never had.

I applaud your decision to educate yourself, find love, get married, and move on with your life.

I think it wise that you don't intend to inform your direct male biological progenitor of any issue you produce.

unlike him, you intend to be a REAL parent and protect your children.

My ex and her husband had their son taken away by the county on trumped up nonesense charges brought by his JW mother.

Once the county realized they had no case, they went about trying to BUILD one, cover their but, justify what they'd done.

My ex managed to record the antisocial worker on a number of occasions.

"now we've got a number of hoops to jump through for the eyes of the court, but when it comes time to adopt him out I don't want a fuss"

admissible as evidence.

When it all started for me.

i was thinking about what started my big doubts with the wt doctrine.

i remember often questioining certain things but the biggest doubt was when i started some research in the wt literature about a subject i knew a lot about.

I was raised 'in the vicinity of' the so-called 'truth.'

I had a somewhat rocky childhood, the less said about it, the better. I was 5 in 1970, and everything changed for the worse that year.

But had pretty much pulled it together by the time I married for the first time in 1986, and put in some pretty solid effort to be a JW up until my duplicitous and treacherous spouse decided in 1994 that fidelity wasn't for her, then I fell to pieces.

But I still thought I had the truth

Then we had the two study articles about the 'cities of refuge' in 1995. I remember sitting in the kingdom hall and thinking, 'geesh, they are really running out of things to put into these magazines!'

It seemed that they just said the same things and had run out of new material, but upon looking into my mom's extensive kingdom library I found that they really had been just that shallow and self-serving all along. I just hadn't seen it.

Now that I had reached my saturation point with all of the types, antitypes, and modern day fulfillments that all lead to the WTS, I lost all enthusiasm for the alleged kingdom. The meetings never had been 'refreshing' for me, but now they became interminable.

I began avoiding them, using my shaky emotional condition as a plausible excuse.

I still thought it was 'the truth' and periodically stepped up activity in vain attempts to get baptized, but the elder's were having none of it.

I was, by that time, known as someone who was 'perpetually studying' so therefore there was obviously something very wrong with me in their eyes.

If I had been a new person they would have moved me along to the dipping pool tout suite, but no. I was a perpetual study so I had to prove myself.

This I would NOT do, so it always returned to me backing away and blaming my emotional state. It helped that my second wife was a basket case and our lives were really chaotic at that time.

The last straw was being told by an elder in the brookdale congregation, that I didn't need to be baptized because, as a 'retarded person' I was under my mother's grace.

I truly believed that he was suffering from some sort of mental deficiency, possibly the total lack of a central nervous system, and still do.

I never liked Dave Bye, but to have this complete moron tell me I was retarded?

UNACCEPTABLE!

I left my nutcase wife, moved to St Paul, and never even tried to contact the congregation there. I started looking at apostate websites, starting with free minds, tower watch and the rest.

I had hit a low spot in my life where I had to tear down everything I had ever been and rebuild. This is when I truly broke free mentally and emotionally from their mindset.

My life has been up! up! up! ever since, thanks in no small part to my Becky who is possibly the best person I have ever met and the perfect woman for me.

And to think, it all started with those two stupid articles on the cities of refuge.

What would you do?

barbie doll's grandson called yesterday saying the his fiancee, wants to meet us.

his hasn't willingly visited us for more than 10 years.

the last few times we saw him, was when we stopped his work, every time we invited to come and visit us and he never has.
