Confronting Our Parents. Part 1
by jakes induring winter school holidays here in south africa,my wife and i decided to travel down to our hometown.
to confront our parents about the jw issue.we felt we needed to clear the air and let them know what our .
standpoint regarding the jws are,and why we will not be raising their grandchildren in the org.. once and for all we needed to get this behind us.we needed to tell them about my book and felt it would.

Encounter with JW neighbours # 2
by winnie inas i posted in a previous thread, we moved about 5 weeks ago into a house next door to a local elders family (who also happen to be related to us through marriage).. the elders wife (i'll call her mrs m), decided to weed her garden when we went out this morning.
but we were only gone for 20 minutes.
to weed a part of her garden, she has to come into our front yard to reach it, which she was doing when we came home.

They prevent people from making preparations like insurance, give false comfort by poo pooing the grief, and then, not only won't help out widows and orphans, but may very well be stealing their donations too?
It's not just their fruits, but the love among them that will identify Christ's followers, and this bunch ain't it!

by oompa inok, slowly awakening and fading at the same time for two years now, and did not plan it.
i tell my wife last night i have been having some interesting e-mails with my dad about the qb from the sept km we are to study this week.
she says she has read it, but does not remember it.

Is there any chance this article is just saying the fds does not endorse material from the groups that have published material and websites? I feel the statement goes beyond that by saying ANY literature that is not from the Society is not approved.
Oomps, what you are saying is "my wife wants to give them the benefit of a doubt, could she be right?" No?
First off, this is the same 0rg that made cagey statements up to '75, then blamed the R&F for catching the statements and believing them when the Big A did not arrive in 75.
In the insight book, they define "lie" as making an untrue statement to someone who has a right to the truth, thus redefining "lie"
Most JW's give the org the benefit of a doubt in these matters and will likely do so regarding the Sept KM QB, but I just don't think that's a safe bet.
Let's suppose tho, that they DO just mean info from these 'groups,' Let us suppose they aren't banning barney the dinosaur, archie and jughead, and online banking, which they probably aren't anyways.
Does that make it OK?
No.
They are still requiring members or potential members to get info about them ONLY from them! Would you buy a used car from a fellow who insisted that previous owners, consumer groups, even the better business bureau are all just liars?
As you walk around what was advertised as a Porsche, you wonder why it's a Yugo, but he blames you for misunderstanding and claims that in spite of your perceptions, it IS in fact, a Porsche.!
That's just an example, it's just a used car, but in real life the WTS wants to do the same to you with Life and death and even dictate who you can and cannot speak to.
Can you imagine? that kind of power? given to an organization that insists it doesn't need to be transparent in its dealings? Who says that to question it and its motives is to perish?
To sum up: It is NEVER a safe bet to grant the WTS the benefit of a doubt, but even if you did in this case, they are still overstepping their bounds.

I too, feel for ya, oompa.
She's not going to make it east for you, she's been taught that losing you from the religion means you will become some kind of animal.
She needs reassurance that you are still YOU, and love her, and won't leave her no matter what she chooses.
Find things you can do together to strengthen the bond between you independantly of the JW's, take her out for dinner and a movie or snuggle up watching a movie on the couch.
Take a drive to see fall colors, a walk somewhere beautiful, something nice.
This all enhances your credibility, and weakens theirs.
It takes time and is a perilous path, but it will be worth it.

What kinds of fading techniques have you used?

i'm new to the site, my wife and i are are doing the fade we still have a son and daughter-in-law who are still in so we don't want to get hung.
i was an elder for 25 years and was removed because i didn't agree with the gb on an important issue and spoke privately and with trust to another elder who broke that trust and told the other elders and co about my disagreement.

I read science fiction, fantasy, western, and mystery books a lot, Heinlein, Norton, Asimov, Tolkien, Lillian jackson Brain, Louis lamour.
I love researching new things, new ideas, and also ideas I'm already familiar with, cults and cultbusting, JW's, mormons, scientologists, the DNC.

I download stuff, ebooks, music, girlie pics, funny videos, instructional materials, and pictures of things that interest me. Some of these pictures wind up being done as jigsaw puzzles using the Tibo jigs@w program.
I enjoy collecting and collating vast amounts of data, constructing databases and finding trends and relationships in the data that were not immediately evident before sorting and collation.
I play games, D&D, GURPS, Car Wars, Traveller, various cardgames, board games, and the new and exciting constructible collectible card game, Pirates at Ocean's Edge from wiz kids.
I shoot. I shoot a hell of a lot. We belong to a gun club and shoot pistols, rifles, assault rifles, shotguns, and when we can machine-guns.
I build stuff, fractal pyramids, concept models, models of dream houses, geometric constructs. I enjoy experimenting with theoretical polyhedral forms.
I am currently building a ramp for the platform I put on the back of my truck for my scooter, a recumbent quadracycle made of two kid bikes side by side with a seat slung between, and a replicating carving machine.
I want to build a CNC milling machine so I can cut panels for stitch and glue canoes.
I modify nerf guns, hop-up airsoft, and mess around with potato cannons.
I watch movies and TV, comedy, British comedy, action, no suspense or horror and nothing occult, I just don't like that stuff.
Music! ELO, classic rock, country, bluegrass, big band and swing, everything from Andrews sisters to ZZ Top, except heavy metal, rap, R&B, and punk.
I write. Stories, poems, essays, love letters to my beck.
We go for drives, see movies, eat out, go boating, walking by the river (with me on my scoot) shopping, spending money, laughing, and loving.
Oh, and lots and lots of sex.
Any of the above may be done for or with someone else who needs help with it, except the sex which is ONLY for Beck.
Other than that, I enjoy building and selling PCs, and making any money my other ideas and inventions can bring in. The world is simply rotten with cash, it's everywhere. Buy, sell, build, sell, design, sell. spend.
Repeat as necessary.
