Why is the US so afraid of Social Health Care?

i just don't get why the us is so afraid of social health care, and is so opposed to the canadian and british models.

the plain fact is that there are far more americans without access to health care than the combined populations of sweden, norway, denmark and finland.. a measure of the maturity of any society has to be how it sees fit to re-apportion its wealth.. we are quick to criticise african leaders who line their own pockets but leave the masses in poverty but cannot see that blindly following capitalist principles is much the same.

if we live in a wealthy society then part of that wealth has to be put back into society as a whole.. .

Ok, I gotta comment here. Where has anyone said they wanted all corporations gone and replaced by the government? Who pays 60-75% in taxes? We certainly don't, our tax rates are not much different than the US. Most are in the 30% bracket, and that's 30% on what they earn above $35,000. Before that, it's 15% and no one pays tax on the first $6,000 per year... no one.

No one is saying get rid of corporations, they are a vital part of any economy, just keep them in their place and don't allow them to take over for their own good at the expense of everyone else.

Note the tax statistics for the USA are between 14-34% which puts them at a taxation rate of many European countries, Canada and the UK.

That's about the same rates as us.

I think it's fear of the unknown more than anything else... just my opinion... I'm sure there are plenty who would disagree.

Never tried magic mushrooms but have smoked a bit of the ole weed in my time. Like Burns with mm's, marijuana helped get me through some tough times. To just be able to deal with what was going on at the time, my past and not want to block it out of mind but rather go with it... without wanting to bawl my eyes out. It was a huge relief for me and helped me put a lot into perspective.

I haven't smoked in at least a year now... haven't felt the inclination. I never became 'hooked', I never experienced any unwanted side effects. Everything in moderation I say.
