  i would love to do this on a mass scale... think there might be something "big" in the results.. 1. were you a born-in (including those who's parents converted while they were still children) or did you convert as an adult?.

  Born-in (mother returned when I was 2)

  2. When you left, did you still (a) fully believe in the truth TM , (b) partially believe or (c) realise it was all a load of crap?

  (b) partially believed... didn't feel right but didn't know any different.

  3. Now, do you still (a) fully believe in the truth TM , (b) partially believe or (c) realise it is all a load of crap?

  (c) it's CRAP!

  4. When you left, how afraid where you of armageddon TM ?

  I was moderately afraid, I was one who would break out in a sweat whenever there was a 'special news bulletin' but the thought of spending forever with the people in my Kingdom Hall TM was worse.

  5. Do you class yourself now as (a) christian (b) agnostic (c) atheist or (d) other (please state).

  (a) atheist though I'm open to change if I ever find evidence of 'someone out there' that makes sense to me.

  i was about 4 or 5 years old.

  they must of been talking about prejudice in the meeting or something.

  that's when i first learned about it.

  Hard to say... theres so many.

  One of the earliest in memory was learning someone could be disfellowshipped for attempting suicide... on the basis that it's wrong to take any life including your own and you're never given more than you can deal with. It didn't sit right because of a) the blood issue and b) if someone is contemplating suicide, they clearly have been given more than they can deal with. I thought it was cruel.

  Never got the logic behind 1914... was relieved to find out I wasn't the only one.

  The whole "we never said armageddon would come in 1975"... re-call hardly any of it at the time (had it happened, it would have been just before my 3rd birthday), I mostly heard the re-buttals but at the same time there was a sister in my congregation who was living in government housing and on the pension because her husband cashed in his life insurance believing that armageddon would happen, then died in the early 80's of cancer.

  It's hard to say... I believed in it (even when I left) but it never felt right.

  Leolaia: Sounds like they had to do some maintence on the lines and connected the wrong line back. I used to work for a telecommunications company, (ok, only call centre work but we did visit an actual telephone exchange as part of our training) the phone lines are about the width of a hair and usually a couple of hundred of them bundled together. Any calls made while the connection is wrong shouldn't be charged to you (pretty easy to prove as the date and time of the call is usually recorded). Still annoying though.

  Lillith26... get yer arse back to Katherine and post from there... kidding. Beautiful spot, Katherine is. I was born there. Spent the first two years of my life on a settlement known as 'Bamyili' which is about an hours drive south east of Katherine.

  palmtree67... Northern Territory is located in the top end of Australia. I'm in Darwin which is right at the top centre of the country.

  Where I can find information on South Australia court case, where a JW sued his KH and the WTS after breaking his leg in field service?

  from memory a newspaper article reported on this some years ago - it involved the jw trespassing on private property, being knocked over by a goat, the homeowner being sued and having to pay damages to the jw.. initially as the jw sued his congregation, the wts defended the kh and itself with the statement that jw's are not required to go out in field service and that the ministry work is purely voluntary.... can anyone point me to a link?.

  Hi LUKEWARM, I'm in South Australia and I haven't heard of this one.

  I grew up in SA and I never heard of it either... approximately when did this happen? Maybe check a public records office if you're in Oz... if not I may be able to help there.
