Who is Babylon the Great?
by sabastious inhello jwn, my last thread revealed the identity of the beast out of the earth referenced in revelation chapter 13 veses 11-18. this post will deal with the beast out of the sea who is being ridden by a prostitute called babylon the great.. first, we must identify the beast the prositute is riding.
this can be found in revelation chapter 17:.
one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, come, i will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits by many waters.2 with her the kings of the earth committed adultery, and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.. 3 then the angel carried me away in the spirit into a wilderness.

If Abraham had never lived...No Jewish nation, no Islam, no christianity
by Aussie Oz ini guess the guy really did, that he did as the bible says and that he fathered the jewish nation, fathered by extension islam and christianity as well.
maybe he really did, because well, we have that trinity of belief systems existing that we cannot deny.. pretend with for a moment that he never did though.
lets pretend that the jewish nation never came to be, that the koran thus never got written, that the ot never got written, there was no jewish saviour prophecies uttered and that humanity made it through the last 4000 years or so without either of those three and their offshoots like christianity.. what would history be like?.

What if the alternative had been worse than religion though? After all, it was a creation of man and one man not existing still wouldn't have changed the way of thinking for the rest of those who helped shape both the OT and the Koran. Just a thought.

In all US states, the Courts do NOT require two witnesses or even corroborating evidence in child sex abuse cases
by yadda yadda 2 inpages 433-437 inter alia, of the book "myers on evidence in child, domestic or elder abuse cases" fourth edition refers.. you can view this very informative material at google books.
this shows how the watchtower's strict interpretation of the biblical two-witness rule is very much out of harmony with the modern legal system in matters of child sex abuse.
j.r. brown, watchtower spokesman, is reported by the associated press on february 11, 2001 to have said:"...corroborating evidence can be used instead of a second witness to prove wrongdoing.

Yep. Courts are interested in details like facts and evidence... not if there was a second person present that can verify the claim.

Why 607 b.c.e. and 1914 c.e. are utterly true, correct and beyond question!
by Terry inand, by the way, what we said about russell being the "faithful and wise servant"......?.
to get money (for jehovah's work, of course) we are now prepared to hint and insinuate when armageddon will happen and this time we will be 100% accurate.
we got that part right.. .

I think the real history of the Jehovah's Witness cult... would make an excellent plot for a blockbuster comedy movie. Script would pretty much write itself. I told some of these events to my workmates at my last job... that was their feedback also.

Bookmarked.
I agree Terry. I believe satirical comedy to be one of the most powerful weapons out there. Brilliant, just brilliant.

Hmmm... good topic. I was always the one the book study conductor had to get someone to explain detail to me as the topic just often did not make sense to me. I was regarded as quite stupid by a lot of the people in my congregation.
At my last job, I had similar scenarios when it came to break time discussions over the latest scandal on one of the current affairs shows here. I'd often question the proof (which often, there was no real proof). "What more proof do you need? They said it flat out!" was the response I often got (sorry to say, but I don't see that as proof). It's amazing what people will believe and you don't necessarily need to be intelligent or charismatic to get people to follow what you say.

Umm yeah... crocs here in the top end aren't exactly known for their fruit fetish. How would the croc even reach the pineapple to begin with? They can jump but their instincts are far more suited to hunting than picking fruit... useless climbers. They'd starve to death waiting for the fruit to drop from the tree in the first place.
