I'm starting to really get into the New Testament. This is great!

stuff i never really touched much when i was a studying with the witnesses.

i'm in awe.. amazed.. at the things jesus is saying/doing.. some of it is even putting me in tears.

one chapter that i really love so far is i'm in luke and i'm reading about the woman who came into the pharisee's home and started kissing jesus' feet and jesus told the story of the two people that owed money.

It blows your mind doesn't it? I remember when I first properly read those chapters about Jesus. I couldn't put my bible down. It was a first for me. I was around 10 years old(?) at the time. I remember wishing he was still with us on earth.

He had to have been the most liberal minded 'person' to walk the planet. Have you ever tried to picture what he might be like if he were here today? I see him on a motorbike, jeans and leather jacket using words like 'cool' and 'dude'.

It's true the JW's don't like to use the New Testament much, as pointed out by Greendawn, it's too liberating for them. Kinda makes you wonder who they would be most like in those accounts. Pharisees?

when you consider the leaps and bounds in medical discoveries that we've made in the last 50 years, it seems incredible that they're still using chemotherapy and radiation as the treatment for cancer.. while i was one of the lucky one who has survived cancer (so far), it's always in the back of my mind that it could return.

we all have friends who died before their time because of this rotten disease, yet the only progress that seems to have been made is that they can now 'detect' it earlier, which of course gives you a much greater chance of survival.. there have been stories of people who have been cured through alternative medicine, yet no one in the medical field seems to be interested in anything other than chemo or radiation.

Exactly. That's their job. The people selling MGN-3 were pretending that it was a treatment for cancer. They were making false claims about it in order to sell it to desperate people. The FDA didn't stop them selling it, they just stopped them falsely claiming that it was an effective cancer treatment.

So it's OK for pharmaceutical companies to make false claims about their products, even to the extent where the side effects kill people. This caused much controversy here last year. Pharmaceutical company Roche treating medical practitioners to a lavish meal while they hear of all the wonderful products Roche has to offer. Sales meeting anyone?

I'll share my experience. I have a condition known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. There is one conventional form of treatment for this condition. I tried it, used this treatment for more than three years, helped a little but I felt the small gain wasn't worth the side effects which includes weight gain, fatigue and potential liver damage.

So I tried one of the natropath treatments. Took longer to see any results but I've found them to be far more effective. No weight gain or fatigue either.

No one is saying we must abandon all conventional treatments in favour of holistic. As both Jeff & Mary have pointed out, there needs to be a balance of both and it continues to baffle me how anyone who is willing to consider this is labelled a crackpot.

i heard on tv this morning that a few will protest at our assembly which will be held in quebec city friday, saturday and sunday.. i heard that someone who lost a family member due to blood policy will protest in front of where the assembly will be held..... i'll try to find a link to this story... .

So what does a person do when they're told by their doctor that there is no more treatment availible for them? As I've said before, they were the majority of his patients. As I also keep saying, Dr Holt never gave them false hopes by telling them he would cure them. The patients just found themselves in remission with doctors baffled as to how they were still not only alive, but tests finding them in quite good health.

As Mary pointed out, different people respond to different treatments.
