In the beginning I was enthusiastic about FS. Several who worked with me told me I was good at the doors. The Bible is indeed an interesting book, and people here in the South have the greatest respect for it.
Even though I'm inactive with the Witnesses, I still believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and continue to talk to people about the benefits of living by its precepts.

What sort of a witness were you?
by brinjen ini'm talking door to door service work here.
were you the kind who would insist on getting a conversation at ever door?
or where you (like me) the kind who would take a "not interested" as an excuse to get the hell out of the householders face?

Universalism
by choosing life ini was talking to a friend who believes that everyone will acieve eternal life eventually.
she used some scriptures that make sense to me.. 1 cor.
15:22 -for as in adam all die, so also in christ, all will be made alive.. rom.8 :38,39- basically states that nothing can seperate us from god's love.. it was kind of refreshing to hear her talk about everyone being important and worthwhile to god.

I don't believe in universal salvation, but I do believe in the redemption of Adam and Eve. The Society makes the assumption that they were willful sinners and therefore undeserving of salvation.
I contend the blood of Jesus covers them also. If not, Satan would have won. Never may that happen!

Thank you. I went to every website about JW's - pro and con - before I settled on this forum. I like the freedom of expression found here. After being in the WTS mindset for some 30+ years, this is a breath of fresh air.

I divorced my first husband in 1979 due to his lying, cheating, no-good ways. I was led to believe JW men were the best. Imagine my chagrin when I found our there were JW's who had lying, cheating, no-good ways also. If not, they were so controlling as to be unbelievable. I knew one sister who had to ask her husband what size eggs to purchase!

Ninja, I thought all Scots were dour penny-pinchers and you come out with this:
am a fully fledged apostate now...."sniff"....got horns, forked tail and a pitchfork very cheap through "apostates r us"
That's what we get for stereotyping, huh? I always enjoy your posts. You help to keep things on an even keel around here.

Highlander said:
Did you mean the book, "Robert King Himself Has Become Jehovah" ??
Nope,, haven't bought it, never will
To paraphrase what Mammy said to Rhett Butler, "You is a bad un, Highlander." Seriously though, Robert King has Charles Taze Russell written all over him.

What didn't you do because you were a JW that you now regret?
by jwfacts ini just bought a bottle of wine for an exjw's 30th that i am about to run off to.
on it there was a great quote by mark twain:.
"twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do... explore.

My oldest daughter had her heart set on becoming a cheerleader or a flag girl. I wouldn't even consider it. I deeply, deeply regret that. She got married at an early age, separated, drifted in and out of relationships; just now at age 33 seems to be settling down. I have asked her forgiveness which she freely gave.

Every now and then I'll drop by E-Watchman to see what's up. The administrator/moderator is throwing people off his board like crazy. All of the think-tank old timers have moved on. The only ones left are the nauseating flatterers (sycophants, if you will).
Has anyone bought his book - Jehovah Himself Has Become King - and does anyone think Simon may become that tyrannical?

were the insight volumes written to supplant his work?
if that is the case, how spiteful and petty can an organization become?.

looking back...neither publication is the scholarly book the dubs make it out to be... the research is biased and the sources are all pro-dub researchers....(but then so are most newspapers and many mainstream media mags...time, newsweek, us news...etc...all have their editorial bent/slant....
both are crap.... still in my bookcase....not sure why I keep any of it....just cant let it go quite yet...
Now that's what I'm talking 'bout. This is one of the reasons I've come to this forum for the past seven years. It's a tell-it-like-is, let-the-chips-fall-where-they-may place. And the cost is much, much less than psychotherapy.
