i lol whenever i run across this term because it aptly describes the elders' wives i've known.. bossy and domineering for the most part, they delighted in being the alpha females and watched jealously to see if any other female received undue attention from the body of elders.. i remember one who told me that my dress was too short, another said i was spoiling my daughter, and yet another wanted to know from where i was buying her clothes!.
too much!.
lol.. sylvia.

so this time of year we get all of the feedback about how the majority of jws (and we) didn't partake.. if you self identify as a christian what do you believe about the bread and wine.
are you catholic and believe in transubstantiation, or greek orthodox and believe in the mystery of the real eucharist, or protestant and believe only in the symbolism of the bread and wine.. do you serve grape juice and soda crackers (chruch of christ i attended), real wine, real matzah, wafer, other.. do you take communion daily, weekly, monthly, annually.. how important is communion to you..
LOL @ Outlaw.
After leaving the JW's behind, I don't attend any church services.
My personal belief is that anyone who wishes should participate in the breaking of the bread and the passing of the cup.
From what I've been able to glean from reading 1 Corinthians 11, this was done in conjunction with a normal evening meal.

noah, my movie review.
you may have already judged this film and you've never seen it!
like many of its critics, you think you know what you're going to see and .
Along with the Book of Enoch, there's also the Book of Jubilees, and the Testament of Noah to help round out the Biblical account of the great Flood.
Of course, my favorite is the Book of Jasher.

although i was exposed to the jw's as a child as the only religion i knew, i was not a jw until i got out of the navy as a conscientious objector.
so i was typical "worldly" when i hit 18 out of high school and i got to see the world before personal catastrophy involving heavy drinking made me turn to the lies that i thought were "the truth.
" so just over 30 years ago, i got the special privilege of serving as the original crew of a brand new ship with a crew slightly over 200. i served 5 years on the "uss worldly" and then left to become a jw.. when you are the first crew, you learn together how to use that ship, how to run things smoothly.
Thanks for sharing your reunion experience, OTWO.
I'm happy to report that my pre-JW associates have accepted me back into the fold unconditionally.

in the bible story nimrod is having all the people build a tower to the heavens and god didn't like it so he caused there to be different languages all a miss so no one could understand one another.
so thats the bible story anyway, what about reality.
in my limited research of ancient history its come to my attention that the main language written and spoken was akad or akkadian.

According to the Book of Jasher, the Tower of Babel was built when Noah was 940 years old, Nimrod was 88, and Abraham was 48.
That would have been 300+ years after the Flood.
I like this book because, unlike the Bible, the ages of the characters are given and the happenings are arranged in chronological order.

what follows is a prologue to the novel and plot which ensues.
the style is steampunk.
a mixing of space travel and such with victorian era technology.. .
