with respect to christ being the "redeemer" and of having "paid the ransom", i would like to know:.
(1) what is your technical understanding of each term?.
(2) what is the watchtower's understanding of each term?.
You may be on to something, Steel.
I believe the WT is on point in its understanding of redeem - the explanation of the go'el, or nearest relative who repurchased a person or his property if things went wrong, is very understandable.
However, it is my belief that WT is way off course on the ransom.
For example, the teaching that Jesus Christ is the archangel, Michael, sent to prove that a human can maintain integrity to the end, thereby upholding God's sovereignty is ludicrous.
How is it that an angel can be called our next of kin?
I realize WT tries to explain this by insisting that Michael/Jesus Christ is the first of God's creation, but I've always questioned that.

Hi, TD.
Every time I see your letters, TD, I smile because it takes me back to when I worked for the County Health Department.
One particular division was known by the acronym *TD.
The director of that division had such a calm, soothing voice that it was an absolute pleasure to field his calls.
20+ years later, I can still hear him, "This is B**** L*********, *TD."

over many years i have been pondering how mental illness has impacted upon jw's due to the effects of indoctrination.
in my case; when i was 21 i had a breakdown and was hospitalised for 6 weeks.
i was diagnosed with anxiety tension state disorder.

the congregation i attend had it's watchtower study on thursday night because of l.d.c work this week-end, and another congregation i have some not very spiritual friends in had their watchtower study on wednesday.
from what i have delicately prised out of people, the congregations loved the watchtower study this week, saying it was so encouraging and all the usual stuff, with no-one seeming to realise the g.b.
said they're not inspired, so the spirit int he past has moved them to teach wrong things, and all the other ideas excellently summed up on reddit.. today's watchtower will wash over the heads of most j.w's like it never even happened, the all remaining as loyal as ever, and it makes me so, so sad..

For all their talk about the GT (including ArmaG), the JW's are terrified of the prospect.
I know my JW sister is - she doesn't even want to discuss it.
