For fear of being identified, I won't say... however, I can tell you I was too young and that it was against my fathers whishes. Its just that I was nagging him just about everyday about it, so he cave in.

Visited Beth Sarim today
by exwhyzee inmy sister in law has been shunned by the family since she da'd herself at the age of 18 and moved out of the house.
i always insisted that my wife keep in contact with her and made sure she knew she had a soft place to land, with us, should she need it.
even at the risk of it getting us in hot water with the pioneer, elder, bethelite family members there was no way we were going to let her disappear into the wild blue yonder on her own.

I think that JWs who realy want to do a pilgrimage should not only visit bethel, but also places such as Beth-Sarim and the burial place of Charles Taze Russell.
I'm an active JW, and I know about theses things. In that sense, I feel empowered to the fact that I remain one ... for the time being ... in full knowledge of the context and everything around it.

New Videos for Teens

EUSTACE: Your comment really made me laught.
WTWizard, your right that we should be concerned about privacy, text while driving and other things. However, these issues are also addressed in external media such as tv Ads and in school. What these channels usualy don't say is that you can simply spend too much time on your device and you can put yourself in awefull situation by texting things to people you would normally not say. Since I think the purpose of the video was not to cover everything, but to cover an aspect that usualy don't get to much attention, I think it was a good video.

Concerning the teen video, I think they are totally right. Especially where they talk about the fact that you can text things you wouldn't say. There is a lot of flirt in the Witnesses because of that.

I think the Bully one is well done “technically” and I think they almost got it. For example:
- Don’t walk to school alone
- Label your belongings and don’t take money or expensive thing with you to school
- Tell an adult (parents, teacher or trusted adult)
- Shine a spotlight on their actions
Yeah, it’s all good.
YET to tell a kid to act confident and to use humor, you can’t teach that to a kid; especially if they are scared. As for avoiding places where bulling might happen… well, I agree if it is occasional. However, if the kid always avoids a park some other favorite place, then, that’s not right; they need learn how to face their problems, not running away.
If my kid gets bullied, I will invest in recording devices and call the cops, plain and simple. That’s why I pay my taxes.

How long did it take you to prepare for talks or parts in the KM school?
by OneDayillBeFree inseveral years ago, whenever i got a talk slip i would get really nervous but accept it and work on it almost immediately.
of course that was way back when i still believed it all.. now they gave me a #3 talk out of the blue about a month ago and i had forgotten all about it till the meeting night.
i really thought about not showing up at all but at the last minute, i decided to go.. so when i got there the meeting had already started and so i just stayed in the back looked at the info, found 2 scriptures and then without any notes i went up and gave the stupid talk!.

I prefer to take my time and think about the message I really want to get across: Stop accepting everything without questioning!
For instance, I try to add something obviously disturbing but thought by the Organization.
“When dealing with David’s sin, we need to consider that weather it was man’s justice or Jehovah’s justice, one way or another, the baby was not going to live. Yet Jehovah, in his mercy, spared the lives of David and Bath-Sheba. This is why the scriptures tell us that Jehovah struck the baby with a sickness of which he died after 7 days. Notice he did not kill him in the whom or at birth, allowing for David to come to true repentance. The same goes with us, sometimes, discipline may be harsh; beyond our understanding, yet, we must show the same humble attitude as David and repent!”
Most people don’t even known that story and will go : WHAT??? Why did the baby die? What did he do? So, they’ll research things and end up on sites such as this one.

what is the earliest age you heard someone get Baptised?
by enigma1863 ini was curious what is the youngest age any jw has been baptised.
i thought it was hypocritical for jws to say wait for marriage because its such a big deal but "why wait to get baptised".
i think my step sister was 11 years old.

Kids are concrete thinkers where they don’t understand “gray zones"; they understand the world around them as good or bad. That fact alone is enough for me to believe that baptizing a pre-teen is ridiculous. For reference, see http://www.pamf.org/teen/parents/health/growth-11-14.html.

What Status are you? Ex JW, Inactive, elder, MS...etc
by enigma1863 ini am technically inactive.
i was just curious if there are many people on the inside.
are there any within bethel itself?

Active. Somehow, even if I don't agree with a whole lot of stuff, I still very much enjoy going to meetings and talking to people. The difference however is that I am much less concerned about what others think and somehow, it is suiting me very well up to now.

Questions From Readers (15th of May 2005)
Why were David and Bath-sheba not put to death for committing adultery, whereas their newborn son died?
[…]
We must remember that if the case had been handled by human judges, the parents as well as the unborn child in the womb would have lost their lives. The loss of the son might also have helped David to realize more keenly how displeased Jehovah was with his sin with Bath-sheba. We can be confident that Jehovah dealt with the matter justly, for “perfect is his way.”—2 Samuel 22:31.

Today's Watchtower Study... "Jehovah Safeguards us for Salvation"
by Honeybadger inso, i'm sitting here highlighting answers in studying today's washtowel, and it's a real bull***t-fest.. there's so much loaded language, juvenile "reasoning", some semi-veneration of king david (yeah, he's definitely a good role model .
maybe i've not been paying much attention, but it just seems like there is even more of this present than usual .
i just felt like sharing that.. .
