my father is still in the truth but keeps in touch with me from time to time.

the other day, he sent me an email about how the generation could be a 120 years like it was for noah.

so, i responded saying that itd be a good thing if it turned out to be true; that he may believe it to be true, as long as he doesnt judge people who dont feel the same way.

In the end, all that matters is love and good works.

He responded to my email, and, inline my comment, added “and doing God’s will”.

This boiled my blood. He obviously meant: Going door to door, regularly attend the meetings, anything related to the JW. So I sent an email outlining how Jesus talked about doing God’s will in the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus seemed more concerned about encouraging people to display love in their day to day activities rather than actively take part in their religion. On the contrary, he exposed the religious leaders for their hypocrisy.

Love and good works (baring good fruits) is “God’s will”. Preaching is to actually encourage people to do God’s will. Religion is intended to help people in doing God’s will. Thus, it is not, in itself, God’s will.

Anyways, I am oversimplifying a huge email exchange that I had with him to the point that he said he wanted to wrap up that conversation in person as he wasn’t sure he understood what I meant.

My issue here is that I need to have some respect from my father… If he wants to keep in touch simply to let me know that God is displeased with me, I don’t see the point of keeping that relationship alive. I need him to acknowledge that if one day, I stand in judgement before God, I will have the same odds as any other JWs he knows.

I felt compelled to leave the JW specifically for their lack of love and their judgmental attitude over everyone. Now, I realize that my own Dad could actually be judging me as displeasing to God simply for not being a JW – nothing else.

there is a visitor brother in town and from what ive been told, he has been a missionary for many years and they were having a get together for him.

i took my mom to that get-together yesterday and stayed for a few minutes.

i heard a group around a table with the visitor brother talking about how hard it was getting in the world with so many distractions and that many of the brothers were falling into the trap and leaving jehovahs organization.

I love this idea and will send an anonymous letter. I'm in. BUT, I think I will send a letter to both my congregation AND the bethel in warwick.

If we send letters only to our congregations, they will easily go unnoticed by most. However, if we send them all to bethel so that they end up having thousands of letters... it might even make the local news!

Oh, and I will make this letter personal and I would be willing to send one every year until I get enough of it.

looking at one of their articles on the matter, they stated that a large portion of the printing work was delegated to other locations than ny, thus, they did not need as much space as they did in ny.

also, it was stated that operation cost in nyc were expensive.

Considering that there are 1 million JWs in the states, than, the number of volunteers for the Warwick project is not that impressive... about 79% CHOOSE NOT TO HELP! Adding to the fact that the money seems to lack as well.... than, yes, there is some real passive resistance going on!

To get to that number:

(A) There are 500 volunteers coming in each week. 208 weeks over 4 years. Divide in half to factor in those who come back more than once and the weeks with less traffic = 52,000 volunteers.
(B) There are 1,000,000 JWs. Remove half for those too far. 500,000 candidates. Remove another half for the elderly, the kids and the handicapped: 250,000 possible candidates,

I hadn't thought about this before, but a friend pointed out to me that the considering the number of JWs in the state, the participation in that project is not that impressive.

That's strange, especially that last week, after seeing these pictures, i wrote a topic laying out how shocked I was by seeing these pictures. Perhaps too many people felt exactly like me and they ended up taking it down.

On the other hand, it sounds logical that it could be that there were pictures of someone who had an accident there.

This is truly an impressive accomplishment. However, the fact that information is translated does not make it truthful. For instance, from time to time, they get "new understandings". Hence, information previously translated in various languages and presented as the true was in fact false.
So, while we can acclaim the technical achievement and the good will of everyone behind this, the information itself can be questioned.
