i have heard from my father (who is an elder about 50 years old) that there is a great seperating work going on within the org.
he said that almost all of the people my age 25 to 35 have quit going to our hall (about 20 people).
i have not been to a meeting in about 1 year.
My aunt told me that the old congregation is looking REALLY empty. At one point there were like 100, when I left it was about 50, now there is about 30 - 40 depending on the meeting. I think its GREAT!!! There are tons of people around my age leaving the Borg on a weekly basis, if not DAILY basis. This last month my old drummer and my old sax player told me they are leaving.
do you think they all ended up being elders because they were ambitious and loved to exercise authority over others?.
or do you realize that each elder has his own story and that some became elders under great pressure?.
do you really think that all of the elders enjoyed participating in judicial committees?.
No my dad is one currently, and I love him as much as any son has ever loved his father.

Oh yeah, they give a talk on EXACTLY the offense, usually on Thursday as a local needs talk. When I was a kid and got busted for screwing around, they gave a talk about a week or two after my private reproving AND the elder looked RIGHT AT ME the entire time he was giving the talk. I left that congregation the next week and never, EVER returned, wished I would've left the church at that time... Oh well...I'm out now for good.
i heard this morning the "who will be saved (n 126) " public talk.
the speaker raised the point of age baptism and he confirmed what has been pointed out a couple of times on this board, namely that, according to a trend which seems to be fairly recent within the wts, people don't have to be adults to decide they want to become jws and get baptism.
the only two examples which the speaker selected were 2 children : manaseh who, at age 12, promoted idolatry, and king yoshia who restored jehovah's worship as soon as he came to power at age 8 !
There was SEVERE pressure when I was a teen to get baptized, it was absurd, I started hearing it at about 13. Then they are forever held to that standard of living.
he was telling me that by 2020, none of "this" (the weeeerld) is going to be here, but it's still a good idea to have a 401(k) because you can use it for other things, like a down payment on a house or something.
then he started talking about how he never thought he would retire, and now he's faced with it.
i just kind of thought that was funny.
I started my 401k at age 25, when I was still a Dub. People said I was foolish, and I told them, well you're 55 and probably without savings, I don't want to be in that boat, and with the power of compounding money and time I should be able to live comfortably in my golden years.
