You sure it wasn't "Losche", that ignorant ass, drug out a District Convention final talk over 1 hour after he was supposed to be finished!!!! People started leaving after 30 minutes, during his talk he condemned almost everything including pro football and higher education. That idiot was a piece of work.

Disgusting comment re: education from Tacoma 2007 District Convention
by Justitia Themis inthis is from saturday afternoon program.
the speaker first starts with what he called the "alphabet soup" of degrees....a.a., b.a., m.a., ph.d., etc.
; he said they were nothing more than "sheepskins on the wall.

Sometimes in life, you HAVE TO be an asshole. Trust me on this. I do this all the time to keep a distance from people, whether its my girlfriend, friends, mother, my JW family, work associates, etc. I'm telling you, keep a distance from people, you can guard yourself better that way, and hey ask questions back to them with a stern, slightly sarcastic tone, when you are confronted with a barrage of questions from someone that has no right to ask them. Dubs, are nosey, selfish, judgemental, pieces of trash, that I no longer have use for.
And when I wrote my letter to the congo, I told them point blank that I wanted no contact, and I've received zero. If elders would call me now, I would hang up. Luckily for me my dad is an elder and he knows I don't want contact. Unfortunately he also won't speak to me.

I despised a few...
1. Brother Garza - big, fat, bag of hot wind, AND LAZY!!!!! This man never, ever did service, and was generally worthless
2. Brother Thatcher - a health risk, he showed up for 2 visits, during his whole time, he was finally replaced
3. Brother Andrews - a real Bible thumper, old school type with a handshake like a vice grip, I swear he tried to break bones
4. Brother Burge - still active, just left my old circuit, he tries to be a comedian all the time. This man was spineless
5. Brother Hall - a fat toad of a man, that was obsessed with technology, he loved to eat and talk about the south
6. Brother Martin - a fire and brimstone style southern preacher, who wore very expensive suits, and loved expensive hobbies and food too
There was one that I liked, Brother Spencer, a truly, genuine, nice man. He seemed to care more about families and conveying love than anything else. I cried when he left (I was 12) and I meant it. He told me I'd grow up to be a great man.
I enjoyed Brother L.C. Cotton's talks, because he had a great voice, and was a very moving speaker, that I greatly enjoyed listening to. He was always at our District Conventions.

Were You Constantly Counseled By Elders & Others?
by minimus inwere you ever told by the elders or others in the congregation that you shouldn't engage in a certain thing because it would be inappropriate-----yet you did it anyway?.
sometimes, "mature" ones will tell an inexperienced witness what they should or should not do within their families.
certain sisters were adamant that a wife should leave her adulterous or abusive husband and if they didn't the victims were shunned by their counselors!

Ok, let me "read between the lines" here for WTWizard...
Basically, he went into the organization, thinking it would be a nice social club to find a nice looking woman with some morals. For whatever reason, he didn't get one of those. There are many reasons people don't find mates, here's a few reasons off the top of my head:
1. Social retardation - this one is pretty much unfixable, it applies to computer programming, chess playing, poindexters that like their mama's egg salad sandwiches and still live in her basement. NO SOCIAL SKILLS AT ALL, very few fit this category
2. Ugly - its even hard to be too ugly anymore, get teeth fixed, different hairstyle, nose job, contacts, whatever, and fix it
3. Smelly - take a shower, buy cologne
4. Too Picky - look at yourself in the mirror, what DO YOU deserve?
5. Fat - if you're funny and dress right, women don't even care
6. Not putting yourself "out there" - if you constantly stay home and mope, you never find anyone
I don't get it Wizard, you know how many single sisters there were? I mean I know we have an age difference, but do you know how many sisters, want nothing more than to get married, pioneer full time and raise a tribe of clapping seals? I'm sorry, but I ran with guys too, and we all had girlfriends, and never had any problems talking to ladies or finding girls to talk to us. I'm not saying some elders didn't look at us cross, but we didn't care.
Sorry, but the society, even though they are thought of as ogres alot around here, do not encourage homosexual behavior, and to my knowledge and experience have never told a brother old enough for marriage to not pursue the opposite sex. Sometimes, when you're not put in the right environment you tend to blame others, guess what, CHANGE YOUR ENVIRONMENT, to help yourself, ultimately, YOU are the only one to help YOU.

Where there is a garage sale sign, so shall there be a Witness...
by pmouse inis that written somewhere in the nwt?
or is it "have a garage sale and they will come" the hollywood horror movie?
i don't recall seeing it, but sure enough, hang a garage sale sign out and you will get them, all dressed up carrying book bags with a casually rolled up watchtower trying to place it to distract you while the other one tries to throw you off by offering 10 cents instead of 25 cents for your junk.

Yes, everyone in my family used to hit garage sales, especially my two aunts and my grandma, they also would hit the local Goodwill. They never "witnessed" at any of these, just tried to pick up bargains. Then the rest of the day we'd spend on return visits, that weren't interested in converting, but more interested in chatting.

Well, we talked that evening and as it turned out, she was basically just "seeking attention". She's been depressed about gaining some weight recently, and wants more 'quality' time with me and also some time with her friends and family too, as she's been spending all her time at my place. Basically she got so down about her weight, that she didn't want to be around people she just wanted to hide out and do nothing. So we agreed to stay together and work on all of it. She spent the night Friday, and left on Saturday, and won't be back until Wed, and then this weekend she leaves for Minnesota with a couple of her friends for a wedding.
The cook out on Saturday with her family also went on without a hitch, everybody loved my smoked boston butt, and of course my 16 hr. baked beans went over huge.
I think part of it, is that I'm such a busy guy, its hard for me to give anyone "lots of my time", I choose to play in a busy, blues band, and also work 50 hours a week, plus be on call for my job, and then have a myriad of friends that are always demanding my presence too. Its not a "bad life", and I'm used to the craziness of it all, but many of the ladies I've brought into it, just can't deal with it, and can't cope. One day, I'll slow down, but right now, I'd like to get all the running and music playing out of my system so eventually I can "settle down", and have a family, and have no regrets.
Right now, I'd sure rather have her in my life than out of it, and she feels the same, and she apologized profusely for breaking up with me, and how she did it, and said how lucky she is to have me, etc.
So that's better, but the grandpa thing is still the same. He is already starting to lose motor skills, and soon will lose his ability to speak, read and think. Its really awful. He was never a smart man, but was always very kind, loving, and a good husband and father, and a really great grandpa. I will miss him a lot. Actually I already do, since I'm DF'd, and he won't speak. I will send a card, I've decided.

... Most people wouldn't be so lame as to break up with people on their answering machine... but a TEXT? Did she at least use smilies?
Seriously, that's low.
You sure it's not some sick prank from a deadbeat 'friend' who happened to stumble accross her cellphone?
Lore
Yeah I'm positive, she called me later, and said that she'd come get her stuff tonight, and give back my garage opener.

Her being over all the time wasn't my idea, she wanted to be there all the time. I prefer space in a relationship and breathing room.

Well thank you everybody.
I agree face to face woulda been nice. However, most people never confront me, if they have bad news they send a letter, email or a text. I'm a pretty confrontational guy, and kinda big, so for whatever reason, most people avoid giving me bad news.

My girlfriend that I brag to everyone about, and treat like a queen, is leaving me. I actually got DF'd over her, and have been with her for over 5 months. We were so close, I just totally never, ever saw this coming. I didn't want to run out and get married like Dubs, but she was basically living with me, then today I get a text, and it says that she doesn't want to be with me anymore. I am totally devastated, right now. This was two days before a big dinner party with my closest friends, and 3 days before I was gonna have her parents, sister and grandpa over for a big BBQ dinner at my place with my new smoker. Her family all loves me, my mom loved her, we love each other, I just don't get it. Concentrating now at work, is out of the question, and I have a massive report to do. What I really don't get is that she is sending texts saying that she still loves me.
Couple the above with the fact that on Monday, my aunt called and told me that my grandpa is dying of brain cancer. Then my dad called me yesterday and said the same thing. Well since they are all JW's, I can't even pay my last respects to my grandpa, because he is the congregation PO, and will not even talk to his own daughter who is also DF'd. He is a very wonderful man, and I will miss him, I know he's just doing what he thinks is right. It just sucks from my perspective.
