he told us that college or higher education is now strongly discouraged by the society.
i argued that such policy is not practical here in the philippines since most jobs now require some sort of college education unlike in other countries where there are demands on skills regardless on educational attainment.
I didn't stick around long enough at the DC to hear the garbage.
From what I understand, higher education most certainly was frowned upon in program.
I'm in agreement with Tuesday in saying that this policy is a dangerous one for the future. Sure, not everyone making a living has a college degree, but it's definitely appearing that you need to have some kind of further education past the secondary level to make a decent living these days.
may make the dreaded announcement to my super righteous, super loyal parents next week that i'm not going anymore.. problem is, as you all know, they "really" believe that it's tantamount to my killing their grandchildren.

i read with sadness the various travails of those who are in and want out but haven't, mostly for the sake of family, the unmitigated temerity to df the borg, and are just waiting for the inevitable kangaroo miscarriage of justice by a jc to pull your plug, and then consoling yourself with thinking that the hounders may have had a sleepless night or two once they'd done their dirty business.
of course you know that after a night or two they've deleted you from their hard drives, so the consolation is pretty much short-lived.
but it seems to me that to give, not only the hounders, but the whole circuit lingering and on-going second thoughts, that maybe they're the ones who are in the wrong and how many others there might be, is when they don't get a chance to hang some bum rap you, and you give them the pink slip.
Unfortunately, the WT Society has taken the power out of DAing. They now have one announcement that applies to DA or DF: "So and So is no longer part of the Christian Cong."
So they get to have the last laugh. The rumor mill cranks up and before you know it the whole circuit thinks your a lesbian ax muderer.
My suggestion: If you DA, send letters stating your intentions and reasons to everyone you've ever known.
I was thinking how much it sucks to not have it specifically said if the person is DF'd or DA'd. The letter sending is a good idea. I also like Little Toe's approach in him DAing himself in a talk. I'm seriously thinking about going out this way.
i'd like to formally introduce myself to everyone here,as the title,and my post count reflects...i'm new around here although i think i may have stumbled across the site sometime before i decided to stop going down there at all,because it looks very familiar,i could have sworn i read an article about jw's real involvement in the holocaust on here at some time.
i've seen some very interesting topics hereabouts,as well as point of views,just wish i would have found you guys sooner so that i could have avoided that whole "thing" down there.

i've slowly found out that my hubby was a great big jw in his active days.
he's been inactive now for about 5 years.
he has only attended 1 memorial and one assembly recently to supposedly appease his father that came into town to have to drive 1.5 hrs to attend the one in our area.
I was very "in". I had full trust in the organisation at one time and thought that all my doubts would reach some reasonable clarification at some later time. Until that time would come though, I was determined to be as hardcore as they come, and that very much was the case. Many said that until I came along they hadn't seen so many younger ones so serious about the religion.
I was only baptized some 3 years ago, and I quickly was appointed a MS and Pioneer. I had aspirations to enter the circuit work later on as well, hoping that I can play a part in straightening some things out that I saw as problems within the organization, more in particular with local congregations...........even though now I realise there isn't much that can be done to "fix" things.
Things definitely have changed in such a short time.

I remember being told years ago that there were a lot of "fakers" partaking in Brazil.
As in newly baptized ones.
They had a heck of a time convincing them that they weren't "the real deal".
I heard the same thing about a few other countries as well.
It's interesting how the religion tells you what your eternal hope will be, and what it will not.

so i recently attended an assembly day, and this added ammo as to why i am turned off:
- they did a very good job saying how anything that is not 'of jehovah' is worldly and from the devil.
so black & white.
Where's Jesus? Compare how much the first century Christians, like Paul, preached Jesus and how much the Watchtower society does.
The Watchtower Society is an IDOL that has usurped the honour that is due to Jesus. It has produced nothing but 6.6million Watchtowerites worshipping the Watchtower IDOL, not genuine Christians.

You can't even mention Jesus alot around JWs without getting strange looks. If you don't mention the Organisation enough and you will still get strange looks.
