has anyone else heard (or have i been playing ostrich) that the door to door work is no longer necessary????

the follow up to that was it's not true.

but, it was part of a talk at a 1 day assembly.

Thanks JH. Your "welcome" was most appreciated! I almost felt like I was being preached to again! lol I still have one friend whose a JW only cuz he won't give up on me!! He just told me about this newest "revelation" and it's usual correction a month or so ago. Maybe it came out longer ago than that.

I'm not disgruntled with JWs. It's just not for me anymore. My biggest complaint now is that I don't seem to fit in anywhere. Being raised a Catholic, converting at the age of 23 to JW and leaving 21 years later gives me the 2 biggest guilt trips in the world!!! I wouldn't mind becoming a part of a religious organization again....if for nothing else than to meet people...but I DO still believe there isn't a trinity which leaves out 99.9% of so-called Christian based religions. Guess I'll just keep on, keepin on......I pray more now than ever and love, more than ever, talking to him along the trails on the Blue Ridge.

Has anyone else heard (or have I been playing ostrich) that the door to door work is no longer necessary???? The follow up to that was it's not true. But, it was part of a talk at a 1 day assembly. In my days, mid 70-mid 90, the talks given at assemblies were gone over with a fine toothed comb and their were those given the charge of following the talk. Have things changed that much? How can witnessing publically ever be fulfilled??? I do it everyday in my actions in open and more spiritual actions than I ever demonstrated as a JW.

Are JW's generally better than average people?

i for one, would blindly trust just about anyone on this forum, just the fact of knowing that you already were a jw.. does this mean that jw's in general are better people or are we a very close bunch of people?.

What a loaded question!! If JWs are better than average people, than wouldn't we all still be JWs?? I do believe JWs are caregivers and are family oriented (whether biological or friends). I know non JWs who are more caring, loving and spiritual than any JWs (including myself) I've ever known. We are (were) looking desperately for the answers that our former religious leaders couldn't provide. We are only imperfect human beings!
