Opinions on Age of Baptismal Candidates
by redskymedic ini am sure i am not the only one that thinks it's ridiculous that they allow pre-teens and young teens to get baptized.
i know now that i did not have a full understanding of the implications of baptism.
i did it primarily because that's what was expected.

I was by far, no Einstein as I was growing up, but I always had logical questions in the back of my mind that bothered me. The thing that struck me hard during all those boring meetings, was how hateful and unforgiving Jehovah God seemed to be. The carrot that kept me interested when I was a child, was the possibility of living forever. The idea, of course is laughable, and even as child I could see the folly in such hope. I sat there during the meetings and would hear about a God that would wipe out the vast majority of this planet if he just got pissed enough. As a kid I used to think that forever is an awfully long time, so wouldn't someone somewhere, sometime piss Him off again and I would be wiped out eventually along with everyone else. There were many other things that bothered me about the doctrine I was being spoon fed as a child, but for me, that was the biggie. As long as I had these doubts in the back of my mind, I never had an interest in becoming baptized. They did make it very clear that getting baptized was a big deal. -fin

Peterson verdict - Double standard?
by chappy inpeterson was convicted of murdering his unborn son.
the law in 30+ states says that taking the life of an unborn fetus is murder.
would someone please explain how a non-human can be murdered?

lol......I thought you were referring to the OJ verdict when I read your headder.
If you can look at the issue logically. It is, and should be the womans decision to keep or not keep the growth inside of her, it is her body after all. If she has something growing inside of her that she cherishes and wants to keep, then of course the person that murders her or her unborn baby, or both, should be tried for murder.
So simple...

Reasons Why We LOVE This Place
by minimus ini love this place.
where else can you find fun, friends, research and the "pulse" of jws and exes?
when we come on board here, we realize that we all share different things that expose us to why we're out or in the process of getting out.

Hi minimus-------I love to come to this place and mostly lurk because even though I've been out of this cult for well over 30 years, it's left emotional scars that while covered over, will never fully heal. I find it sort of therapeutic to read about stories of people just like me that grew up in this cult and shared the same childhood experiences that I did. It's kinda fun to read about someones experiences and say, hey, that's what I was feeling when I was sitting in class all alone and I could hear all the other kids in class singing and laughing as they sang Christmas songs in the cafeteria, preparing for the X-Mas recital for their parents. You know, stuff like that.

Age Difference?

I have to agree with sixofnine, a 26 year age difference is just perfect for me.
I am 46 and my wife is 20 years old. To say she is young enough to be my daughter would be appropriate. My wife is a few months older than my youngest daughter and she is a few months younger than my oldest daughter.
When I got divorced a few years ago I just decided that I would be alone the rest of my life, and after 18 years spent in a horrible marraige, the prospect of peace and quiet and no nagging was a releif.
The reason I figured I would not get married again was because I just didn't find women in my age rage very appealing, on any level. A co-worker who is of Filipino decent casually mentioned to me that if I was looking for a good woman then I should look for someone from the Philippines. I had never heard of such a thing, but I did some research using google and found that there a lot of fil-am dating sites on the net.
After a ton of research on the net, I decided to reply to some of the ads on a few of the free profile sites for filipinas that were searching for American husbands. I received some replies to my emails but one girl, my eventual wife Jet, popped up on my Y-messenger one night while I was at work. We talked for about an hour when all of the sudden she told me that I was probably too old for her, and that she had a girlfriend that had a child and would i be interested in her, I told Jet that I wasn't interested in her friend and that I agreed that I was probably too old for her, and then I popped her messenger screen off of my computer.
Jet popped up on my screen and asked me to forgive her and that she liked talking to me, I popped her off of my screen several times before I gave in and began to talk to her again. From that night on we talked for about 6 to 8 hours non-stop every night until I flew over to the P.I. 6 months later and converted to catholicism in a record 20 days so I could marry Jet in a nice big catholic wedding. Turns out that about 92% of the population of the Philippines is catholic. How ironic, I spent much of my youth arguing with my catholic neighbor friend about which religion was better, J.W. or catholic, and I end up converting to the enemy..lol
After a long immigration process that took over a year, my wife is finally here with me. I must say that I couldn't be happier. We both are very much in love with each other. I have told Jet that she can go back to school and finish her college degree here if she wants, or she can get her real estate license and go to work under my mothers brokers license, or if she chooses, she can stay at home and take care of the house. It's completely up to her.
Who knows what the future holds, but for now I can guarantee that we are amongst the few married coulples that can honestly say that they are married to their best friends. We laugh together, and play together, and love together. As far as jet and I are concerned, the rest of the world can screw themselves if they have a problem with it.
By the way, I wear a cool gold cross every day that Jet bought me in the Philippines, and as I promised to the priest the married us in the P.I. I take Jet to Mass every Sunday. It's really cool. It's mostly singing and it's only about one hour long....Perfect!!

Has this happened to anyone else?
by EyeDrEvil inok, this may sound silly and trivial.
but, i need to know if anyone else has had a similar experience.. as a result of facial hair (a goatee and mustache), i was relieved of my incredibly important.
later, i felt like i should send the elders a thank you note for their wake up call to the fact that i was in a very messed up religion.

Cute candles.....NOT way too much info. Some of us have a good sense of humor and don't have a stick up our collective asses.
