  Very true. I guess they think they can dance with the devil if they want to - same thing with UN dealings. The internet and the UN are good if they're using them... bad if you or anyone else uses them... hypocrites.

  if you grow up speaking english and you move to mexico you don't automatically speak spanish, know customs, understand currency, possess skills.

  for self-support or have any special insight into latino mindset.. .

  why would you expect leaving jehovah's witnesses would leave you any less ill-equipped to navigate the real world?.

  It's a much more difficult transition if one is born into the cult, I've found. Having had a 'normal' view of things before the indoctrination helped me on my exit. I never thought of 'worldly people' the way wt teaches, so I was ahead of the un-learning curve a bit. But ridding myself of the 'unique' doctrines still took about 3 months. I threw out everything but my faith in God, which I had before contact with jws. But I did investigate that as well.

  Being born into the cult, as many here confess, is the hardest row to hoe because they've never known anything else and it's their whole 'truth'. Born in or not, it's mind-warping to realize how thoroughly we'd been duped. The mind and ego take time to mend... and it can't be rushed. The 7 steps of mourning/loss apply.

  My chat with 2 Dubs yesterday about UN membership

  i live close to a resonanbly busy street, 20 odd shops banks, a train station,a couple of cafes and coffee shops etc and usually see dubs doing street work close to the station and i'm now on nodding terms with an elder who is out most days of the week and have got close to recognizing most of the hard core of about a dozen of them , i was walking out of the cafe yesterday to be greeted by a couple of newbies i'd never seen before , a scruffy short dumpy man and a fairly well presented middle aged lady, i'll try and abridge the conversation as best as i can, we must have chatted for about 15 minutes and it was all in a good mannered style;.

  me " have you sold many of those this morning ?".

  jw guy " oh no we dont sell them we give them away for free" (like i didn't know that).

  Right, Blondie. That way wt can say, "oh no, we never JOINED the UN, how ridiculous!" - and then continue to confuse the dubs with their deceptive double-speak.

  However, as it is for any NON-governmental agency, becoming an NGO IN ASSOCIATION with the United Nations, the wt was just as close as it possibly could've been - it couldn't have shared a closer relationship unless it was an actual nation. It's just a publishing company hitching a ride on the back of that ol' beast.

  As more and more jws find this out, watch for the wt to produce some fascinating excuses LIES in upcoming 'QFR'. For some it's no big thing - but for some it's HUGE. I'd love to hear how they're going to cover themselves on this one.

  Perfume / Cologne

  there are some perfumes that i absolutely just love and a little squirt of it can bring back such good memories, make you feel sexy.

  my favorite is dolce & gabbana (red), followed by d&g "the one", followed by coco chanel .

  on men, i love the smell of the original hugo boss - used to make my tummy clench in a good way .

  Cinnabar by Este Lauder - very heavy and spicy, so 'just a dab'll do ya'. It's just for me and with one tiny whiff I close my eyes and go "mmmmmmm". White Musk for everyday, which I always get compliments on. My hubby's old-school and has always used Brut. I LOVE the way he smells!

  Why did god make Mosquitos, ticks, and leeches?

  they drink blood which he is against.. they are a nuisance and would be hell in paradise.

  they just seem to be pests with no beneficial or redeeming characteristics.

  no jw could give you a satisfactory answer to that.

  One time at a Bible study(wt book study) I mentioned that I'll be 'happy in paradise' to be free of mosquitoes and WEEDS - I'd just weeded our garden and was itchy and disgusted. One elderly sister corrected me - "Jehovah created them for a PURPOSE and declared everything 'good'". That dampened my view of paradise. Nevermind how the ground was supposed to be 'cursed' after Eden...

  The op mentioned that mosquitoes, ticks and leeches drink blood, but what about disease? Well, except for leeches - they actually can be used medically I think. 'finally awake' is probably on the right track - we really don't understand the delicate balances of the interdependencies of species.

  I don't know, 'comotose'. I'm sad and happy at the same time to say: I just don't know.

  I am one of the Anointed

  i realise now that all true christians that believe in christ and get baptized are anointed with holy spirit, making me one of the anointed.

  i also believe the symbolic number of 144k are the first-fruits that will be pick by yehovah but no distinction until then (romans chapter 3).

  so since there's a scripture in 1john i think that says the anointed will not need to be taught by others and will have understanding, i'm thinking of telling the elders 'do to the fact that i'm now anointed i no longer need to go to their meetings.
