If i'm not, why am I talking to you? Of course, in your world, people like me can't exist. Because if we did, that would mean an intelligent, rational, free thinking person used his free will and chose to become a JW. Oh my! That can't be! Someone actually looks at JW as a whole, weighs the good vs. bad and finds the positives exceed the negatives to the point of dedication and baptism? Lunacy! You probably have more respect for those belonging to a "mainstream religion" (lutheran, baptist, catholic, ect.). The sheer size of these religions makes them "seem" normal. Sort of how the eastern world views Islam. But, the hysteria comes in when a Muslim American boards a plane in Dallas/Ft. Worth or an American woman walks in downtown Tehran without a head covering.

i'm curious as to what doctrines you teach.

is it "jesus is love.

So am I getting this right that most of you just want to do whatever YOU want to do and make up your personal rules as you go along?

And if so, at what point do you tell another person what to do?......Say, your neighbor likes having sex with animals....do you intervene? What if your neighbor loved veal and kept baby calves in his basement? The blood-curdling cries at night sending shivers up your spine. What if you found out your neighbor and his "son" were members of NAMBLA? Would you report them?

I'm a JW and I'm a free thinker. I choose to think most of you would rather believe that every JW should know everything about every subject. The reality is, we don't. Of course, how couldn't we if "We are enlightened by Jehovah!" (insert melodious tone here). I could just see your type back in Jesus day.

You: "Hey Martha, I just heard Jesus talking about eating His flesh and drinking His blood! What did Jesus mean?

Martha: "Ummm...I don't know. He said that?"

You: "Ah Ha! Martha you're being duped and you just don't know it! I mean, if we were to eat Jesus body and drink His blood we would have to kill him first and he was just telling us 'thou shalt not kill' and if we eat him alive we wouldn't be 'doing unto others as we'd want them to do unto us' so which way is it? That Jesus dude has no idea what he's talking about. He confuses himself! Now, the Pharisees, they make everything so simple and easy. Moreover, you don't have to follow no man! 'Give up my belongings and go following Him? Bah! The Talmud is all we need!

I'll leave you "high minded ones" to have your honor in full.

Ask me anything you want. And BTW, 144,000 would be Kings and Preists residing in heaven (Rev. 14:3,4 see also ). Jehovah has established a government that will usher in that new earth in which righteousness will dwell. It's that same knigdom that most members of christendom pray for, "our Father who art in heaven let thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven." (Matt. 6:10). Seeing how most countries have a governmental structure, it isn't far-fetched that Jehovah would use a similar structure during Christs' thousand year reign. The rest of obedient mankind as well as those ressurected ones that never had a chance to learn of Jehovah's righteous standards would eventually grow to perfection like our first parents Adam and Eve (Rev. 7:9). The way Jehovah originally intended for mankind and for the earth (Gen 1:28, Ps. 104:5). Jesus, along with the 144K would open up new scrolls for these individuals to live by and would also rid the earth of those who willfully chose to disobey those laws (Ps. 37:11 and Rev. 21:1-4) . So, the 144k are NOT the only ones that will receive "salvation". This erroneous belief of JWs is usually spewed and regurgitated by those who haven't really took the time to talk to a mature JW. I could walk into a nursing home and pick out a senile catholic, ask her a bunch of questions, and draw my own conclusions about ALL catholics. Perhaps your questions are sincere. But, why ask them to a person that is studying and then post the unsuspecting persons comments on here for fodder?

You give yourself way too much credit. I'm a big boy. There's nothing you can post on this board that will "frighten" me.

The "annoying" jury is still out.

Perhaps it's the inability to reconcile human suffering and a belief in God?

I can't believe they just sat there...

saturday i photographed a witness wedding .

during the part about the woman's role the speaker made the comment to the new bride ,"don't try to manipulate your husband .....we know how you women can be ...!".

my jaw noticeably dropped and i uddered " what the heck " as i looked around to look for support from other women there,.

I remember being at a Catholic wedding and they couldn't find the Preist. They found him doing the Altar boy in the rectory! The stupid parishoners just stood there baffled! Finally a Nun blurts out, "Timmy wanted to know if he could take an A-N-N-A-L"! The church filled with laughter and little Timmy learned a valuable lesson that day.

Another time, I remember my brother and his fiance going over some pre-wedding counseling with their baptist minister when the minister started asking sexual questions! When he wanted my brothers fiance to demonstrate with a banana, my brother punched the minister! Come to find out, Rev. Fairchild had made it a habit of giving unsuspecting young wives some of his "Sword of Salavation".

I've noticed many of you that have your own ministry. I'm curious as to what doctrines you teach. Is it "Jesus is Love." and that's it or does it go deeper? If you could, please post your basic beliefs concerning these topics:

1. What happens to a person when they die?

2. Who is God and what is his name?

3. Why is there suffering in the world?

4. How did we get here?

5. According to the Bible, is it okay to participate in wars and politics?

6. Is the Devil real? If so, where did he come from?

7. According to your religion, is it okay to smoke marijuana?

8. According to your religion, is it okay to have pre-marital sex?

9. According to your religion, how do God feel about homosexuals?

10. Does God talk to you personally?

Arguments JW's can't argue with.....I think???

these are just a couple of arguments i think would cause any half sane jw (if any current and actively brainwashed "true believer" could ever be described as sane), to stop and think for themselves.. thinking person: is the bible and the events it describes true and factual?.

jw: yes.....to the letter.. thinking person: could evolution be true?.

jw: no way.. thinking person: ok, so i just want to get this perfectly clear; evolution in no way happened, is happening, or possibly ever will happen?

Here's an argument I like to use with an evolutionist:

Me: So you say God doesn't exist, but life evolved from some primordial soup right?

Epicurus: That's right. Life came into existence by accident in this mechanical universe.

Me: So, it all started with this massive explosion; "Big Bang"?

Epicurus: Sure nuff!

Me: But, can life come from inanimate matter?

Epicurus: Naw! The simple celled life forms were already there.

Me: Who created those? I mean they just don't pop up from nowhere do they?

Epicurus: No, they were created, NO!....I mean...they were already here!

Me: Okay...we've established that, but how did they get here?

Epicurus: Science hasn't figured that out yet.

Me: Oh! Science hasn't figured it out. Well, let's say we fill this box with a bunch of inanimate things. We'll turn it in a tumbler and wait until we get a simple life form. How long will it take?

Epicurus: Ummm...I reckon...I don't know......a cajillion years? Maybe never?

Me: Well life had to get it's start from somewhere. How did it get here?

Epicurus: Man you just don't get it! You just gotta believe man!

Me: Oh...you mean like most religions tell you?

Epicurus: Exactly! Wait! No! I mean......(rubbing forehead)....my head hurts! I'm gonna go now.

page 371 paragraph 22 of the june 15, 1967 watchtower magazine says, "in addition to all of this, a persons faith can be weakened by what he reads and takes into his mind, dwelling upon "higher criticism," relying on worldly philosophers.

it should be remembered that, when we are reading a book, the author of the book becomes ones teacher, and for this reason great care should be taken in selecting reading matter.

Every few months? Your post history would contradict that thought. Maybe this is therapeutic, cathartic, or even mental masturbation. I don't know. But you find some kind of relief perusing this board more than "every few months".
