Important Supreme Court Case on Monday
by Hortensia inhttp://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2012/10/a-supreme-court-clash-could-change-what-ownership-means/.
could bring down ebay, and the selling of used books on amazon, and reselling goods on other sites.
book publishers who sell their textbooks for astronomical prices in the u.s. but much cheaper in other countries are suing entrepreneurs who import the cheaper but identical books and sell them for less.. at issue is whether you own the stuff you buy.

At issue is whether you own the stuff you buy. The book publishers want to prevent resales, because they "lose" money they think they could grab if reselling is forbidden. A textbook publisher I write for usually pays me for my writing but also sends me a case of the books when published, each book marked in large letters "not for resale!" What the hell am I supposed to do with an entire case of books I don't need and can't sell? It seems to me that if I give them away, the publishing company loses out anyway, because that's a few more people not buying their book.
Here is something you can do.
You give those books away.
Yes, the book is a free gift, given to the purchaser of a super nifty bookmark that is priced at what you would have sold the book for if you were not giving it away.

The Devil also has no love for the “other sheep,” who support the anointed and are in line for
everlasting life—a prospect that Satan no longer has.
(John 10:16)
What does it mean to be "in line for everlasting life"? Is that like a conga line to paradise? I noticed it is a "prospect" and not a promise. I also noticed that the verse cited has nothing about the devil, or standing in line, or a prospect. Once again, this is another made up assertion that scripture does not support. That is the rule, rather than the exception in Watchtower literature. Who can possibly trust the writing of such poorly trained writers?
John 10:16
English Standard Version (ESV)
16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

In order to lie that craftily and that often, one would have to be heavily corrupt.
What amazes me is how craftily they tell the truth. They say that if you are a part of their organization, you have a prospect of everlasting life.
Did you catch that? You have a prospect of everlasting life. You realize, that when you go into a casino, you have a prospect of winning a jackpot. So they are not even promising you anything, and if you don't get everlasting life, oh well.

Does God Have A Visible Organization On Earth Today? Second Try!
by wannabe indoes god have a visible organization on earth today?
is it not true, that jehovah had a representative line of kings sitting on his throne at jerusalem, and didn't that line of kings end when king zedekiah was deposed from the throne?
while it was operational could it not be said jehovah had a visible organization on earth while those kings were ruling?
-
kurtbethel
Faulty premise.
There is no scriptural support that God wanted those kings to rule over Israel. The Israelites didn't have kings, but then they saw their neighbors did and wanted one of their own. God told them, essentially, be careful what you ask for.

A closer look at the origins and times of Pastor C.T.Russell
by Terry incharles taze russell was born into a time and place in history when america was rife with failed ideas, movements and philosophies about mankind's destiny.
america had been founded by mostly puritan perfectionists and other zealots chased out of europe for troublemaking and fanatical hard-headedness about god's purposes for them.. the first effort of puritan colonists was to bring about god's kingdom through hard work, self-improvement and human institutions which would raise mankind up little by little to perfection in jesus christ.. this was seen to have failed by the middle 1800's and a new approach was needed.. a rural, self-taught farmer from a baptist heritage named william miller filled the need.
using just his wits, sincerety and a bible and concordance, miller searched the scriptures and his neighbor's libraries for the answer.. miller's research led him to the unshakeable conclusion that jesus christ would return sometime in 1843. miller polished his arguments and began a preaching circuit to churches around america's most fervent centers of christian enthusiasm.

OUCH! A casual examination shows that this is the case, and yet people keep joining up. Amazing.

Are Texas women cows?
by kurtbethel inlikely not, but this one is acting like one, and it's a good thing.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2223665/mother-wins-guinness-world-record-breast-milk-donation-pumping-86-galllons-help-premature-babies.html.
a mother in north texas has been awarded a guinness world record for donating breast milk.. alicia richman, 28, from granbury, pumped over 86 gallons between june 2011 and march 2012 for donation to the mothers milk bank of north texas, a nonprofit that supplies neonatal intensive care units.. the vast quantity equates to 11,000oz - to put it into context, a typical newborn's feed is around 3oz.. she told cbs dfw: 'i pumped at work, on vacations, in the car.
and i never had to buy formula.'.

I think what she is doing is great, and amazing that a human can produce that much milk, and a bit funny too. A bit of humor is not out of line with this, and I think about dairy products too.

long time study
by happy-n-alive inso i am 20 now and i had my first study when i was 14. no jehovahs witness relatives and i am currently in my second book with one more chapter to go.
the reason it took so long is because it started out very sporadic andd short.
anyways, a friend and i were talking and i said i dont think i want to get baptise anytime soon and she said they may want to 'see a return on their investment' -_- so my question is if any witnesses ever got pushy with you about taking the next step after you have studied with them a long time.

I wasn't trying to chase anyone off, but I have a saved message of a JW pioneer telling me that she would not longer be studying with me because I was.... oh, ... what was the term. OH! A "fault-finder".
Well now, you wouldn't find a fault if someone had not put it there for you to find, would you.
I milked 4 years of study and what ended it was when I said I had studied the Bible with some Christians. Those JWs couldn't get out of there and end it quickly enough.

Some women are blessed with an abundant supply. When I first started pumping breast milk I had a co-worker who used to call me Elsie. She was the only one who could get away with that cuz I was quite fond of her, may she rest in peace. She died 10 years ago from breast cancer.
That is more about you than I ever expected to know, and there is a bit of irony in her manner of death.
What about donating blood--bone marrow---organs? Does that reduce us all to cattle?
Cattle, no. Livestock, yes.
