While this discussion of religious history is fascinating and has many threads, it still doesn't uncover the origins of the Watchtower practice of channeling, which it holds in common with UFO sects and spiritist groups and individuals. This is also common with Theosophical groups such as that which Helena Blavatsky was associated with. I would like to know more about those connections.

Satan is cunning and deceitful. He is attacking the command people would least think about, in order to keep a job and LIVE. Punishment for those that reject this will be death by guillotine.
Just to be safe I will rest on Saturday and Sunday.

WT Elders school: Avoid black and white thinking - now look at this zebra
by sir82 incontinuing on with my haphazard review of the recent one-day elders school..... in one of the introductory talks, the co was making the point that we can't view things merely from a black and white perspective.
many issues have "shades of gray" and we need to use discernment in such situations.. and i'm thinking "finally!
maybe he will continue on to make an actual, reasonable point!".

they then created a separation of categories... the originals, the old ones, in other words the anointed, a selected groups that you cant be part of because only 144,000 are selected, so they had to come up with all sort of excuses why the end was not coming.
so many explanations to jesus words.. they were buying time, the end had to come at any moment, 1941... 1975... before the end of the century.... but at the last moment this cultish doctrine back fired on them... the number of the originals kept growing... these "divinely" (self) appointed group who wrote countless letter of bible interpretation to gods headquarters kept increasing.

By adjusting the Anointed doctrine in this fashion, they created a new problem. Since an anointed person is suspect of being mentally unbalanced, this can also include one or more, even all of the members of the governing body. From now on there will always be suspicion that any pronouncement or statement made by a member of the governing body is the delusional ranting of a mental patient. Come on, watch a talk by Stephen Lett, or David Splane and try to convince yourself that you are not watching a fruity nutty bar.
