Preppers and prepping.... thoughts?

i have been watching doomsday preppers on natgeo (it's just a trainwreck, i can't stop watching) and while those guys are a joke, i think have a few weeks worth of supplies and water on had is a good idea (tornadoes, hurricane, freak snow/ice storm, etc.).
however, prepping years worth of food, 5000 rounds of ammo per gun, building a fortified bunker.... what for?

The non preppers are already on teevee a lot.
They are the ones on after a storm or disaster, whining about how FEMA isn't bringing them water, or they have no diapers for their baby.
You really don't want to be a non prepper.

Nothing doesn't exist.
If you have a baseball in one place, and a basketball in another, you could say they are 5 clicks apart, with nothing in between. But if you move them twice as far apart and call it 10 clicks apart, you have just decribed a numerical quantity of something that you called nothing. By definition, nothing can not be described in such terms and quantities, so that apparent nothing is really something.

Why does JW.org need a registered trademark?
by cedars ini've just noticed that the logo for jw.org is a registered trademark.. this is how the logo appears on the back cover of the new magazines.... .
maybe i'm overthinking this, but i'm struggling to understand why a website for a religious organization that purports to be involved in not-for-profit educational work needs to register a trademark for its website.
a trademark is something commercial companies use to protect their goods or services.

Again, I struggle to see the justification for registering a trademark for a logo to a website address when the website in question is not supposed to be commercial in nature.
You say it's not commercial, they never said that.
It is a big money making corporation, and much of their activities center around developing and sustaining their commercial activities. This includes developing brand loyalty (don't read other company's literature) and protecting their brand by enforcing copyright and trademarks. The "non profit" legalism they hide behind is a bit of legal fiction they can do by using the cover of a religion.

Pronouncing it RIGHT

i was remembering that when we were studying the daniel book for the book study back in the day, someone released a pronunciation guide.
i remember studying it closely so i could pronounce all the names right (especially on the section of daniel 11).

I Got a Call from "Microsoft" This Morning....

Here is what I do if I get a landline call from a private unknown number. I pick up the phone, and in a stern voice I say "Security!"
I have had telemarketers and other phone rifraf apologize for calling me when I use that greeting.
